She didn't need it at the beginning of the song. She uses it for the chorus. And you can see during the later verses she's holding that finger off the strings.
To play the opening chords she needs her middle finger. Also playin anything other than slide parts while wearing a slide is almost impossible…. The slide hits the neck of the guitar accidentally all the time and makes a clunking noise through your amp
For me this is their greatest song on the album… and after all, Pau wrote it and it is a personal song I believe, and i love when she is angry just as much as when she is in every other emotional state… she’s amazing regardless. I do get why you love her happy though of course… music is so personal to each of us 😊
She doesn't look angry, she looks tired and how could she not be after months of traveling without rest and on a bus traveling many miles without comfort, she just thinks how tired it must be, they themselves say how so hard is touring in their song hell you call a dream
For me it is their top song on keep me fed, musically as well…. Possibly the most complex song… solo lead bass part, slide guitar, clean guitar, heavy rock guitar, tempo and feel changes, extreme emotional output, and shocking contrasts… as well as being written by pau about something personal i believe, when she was younger

I'm no guitar player so therefore my question. Is there a reason why Dany didn't pick up the slide before the song starts or did she just forget?

It's a good song, but not one of my favorites. And I prefer songs where Pau is in a happy mode, and not a stearn angry looking mode 🤣!!
