They make Fretted Violins such as the 7 String Fretted Viper & there's also a Fiddle Fretter which you could use to get an idea of what it's like to play one. The frets turn the Fingerboard into a Grid that shows you where the notes are so it's easier to see where to put your fingers plus you could even show students what high 2 & low 2 looks more like.
I've tried several types of "fretted products" that adhere to the violin's fingerboard. Unfortunately, more often than not, the raised frets interfere with the vibration of a string in many instances, so they end up not working very well. It's certainly possible to have one work very well on a violin but the high rate at which many violins do not work with them was too high for us to recommend them anymore. :(
@@KennedyViolins Actually the 7 String Fretted Viper from Wood Violins is a bit different because the frets are filed down almost flush w/ the Fretboard.
My violin teacher just sits there and I don't know if I'm doing good or bad and I make so many screw ups with the bow and how the violin sits on my shoulder that I'm not sure if it's me hitting the wrong notes or the bow shaking or not being lined up or some other issue that doesn't make it sound right but I have no idea how it supposed to sound at all the teach just said look up an online piano and use that to hear what it supposed to sound like. I still have no clue because a piano has 52 keys and I got only 4 fingers on the e string what keys am I supposed to use the teacher I have seems completely incompetent to me the only thing she really corrects me on is my holding of the bow and my wrist on the violin. How do I ajust the shoulder rest how am I actually supposed to hold the violin on my shoulder how do you read sheet music I have no idea I'm just pulling a bow a cross a string and listening to what I think sounds right or OK. She just sits back and thinks I didn't practice at all I did but I learned how to play completely off key because I don't know anything. And you just tapping a key on the key board doesn't help me "you went sharp" wtf does that mean I've paid for 10 lessons and already had 3 of them I think I'm done.
Unfortunately, there are far more violin teachers willing to be paid to teach violin, then there are teachers who are actually compatible to teach us and be helpful. Sounds like you may not have a good match ☹️ Your teacher should be able to play your music for you so you know exactly what it sounds like. I'd listen to them play your music in the lesson and record it on your phone. Then play it back at home when you are practicing. If they are not able to play the music for you, then you probably need a different teacher.... 😉 . ruclips.net/video/xXR_o0V6ShI/видео.html
Is the clip on tuner only for open strings? I see some on Amazon but read a comment that said they are only for open string tuning? & if not, does it give you a range of how close you are to the perfect pitch?
So what kind of fingerboard tape is that? You can slide it under the strings and even move the tape if it isn’t put in the proper space the first time you stick it down. I need that kind. Chances are pretty good that I won’t get it in the correct place and would need to move it.
It's possible that you can get this tape at a good hobby store. It didn't stick to the fingerboard too much when I was moving it because I hadn't pressed it down yet. However, once you press it down and wrap it on the neck, it stays in place pretty well. We sell the tape on our site: kennedyviolins.com/collections/violin-position-tape
I have tape on my violin at 3 places only. At first position at 3rd position where I can test an open string for an adjacent string for notes an octave above and then much higher the fingerboard where an open string is an octave above. I am right at the beginning of playing the violin. Only had my violin for 3 weeks now. My 4th finger is not as strong as I would like it to be so I rely on open strings but want to start using my 4th finger more instead of using the open string so want to put another sticker where my 4th finger must go.
Woops! For some reason I didn't see your comment. That's a pretty cool tape placement. A lot of people will place tape for shift points when they get more advanced and it helps a lot. Good luck and happy practicing! 👍
@@KennedyViolins I am only at day 24 of starting my violin. My ears will always tell me when I am sharp or flat. In 2016 I passed a grade 5 singing exam with merit and I have a total of 10 music certificates on my wall none above grade 5. I got to grade 4 with recorder and then I was given a flute so comparing the difference in sound the recorder was only worth the rubbish bin. When I had my first flute lesson the teacher asked me how many years have you been playing it and in astonishment I looked at her and replied "what do you mean? I only got given it a week ago!" having played the recorder before which has very similar fingering for notes gave me a head start and I had always been fascinated with sound and could get any sound out of a narrow neck bottle and depending on how full it was depended on the pitch I was going to get from it. Now here I am at the start of my violin playing and am a self learner.

Couldn't you just us a tuner app on the phone?
F# is not equal to Gb on string instruments.
Only on keyboard instruments.
The measurements are wrong. They should be 36mm, 67mm, 79mm, and 110mm.
