      I did. The LP Trad lives hidden under lock n key (theyre $4k in Oz) for last 10yrs, and only comes out about once a year. The CIJ Strat gets played every week n lives under my bed.

      Lynyrd Skynyrds original music is proof of this. Gary on his dirty gibson and allen or ed king or steve on a strat. Almost every song has that dynamic. When they split solo it comes to the surface.

    Depends on the music you are playing... That's why there are so many different types of hammers, screwdrivers, etc. Different tools for different jobs

    More mid, brighter sound from strat. LP had more low bottom end for me. Both are great guitars. Just depends on which one you want for the job at hand. For recording purposes, I'd probably use a blend of both guitars to get a full rounded sound in the mix with bite and warmth. ❤

      I used to think they were 'gay'. I didn't think the single coil was cool nor did I appreciate the shape.
      I love the playability of Gibson Les Paul's and the Humbucker richness and crunch is amazing for certain heavier styles (Tool, Drop D stuff) but, I went and bought one, put a hot rail pickup in it and I really like it. It definitely has it's own character. More snappy where the LP is more sense and crunchy.
      In the end, I like the Strat just as much

      A strat will make you a better guitarist a train your ears a little better.
      Less Paul is good for rock shows where everyone is high on drugs and don't care

    I have both. US models. I favor my LP, but play my strat more often. The Strat is much more versatile and chimey! The feel and looks of the LP can’t be beat. Nothing sounds like a Strat though

      It's a little muddy, makes it more difficult to play in tune
      No problem the people who listen to les Paul are tone deaf anyways.

    Dissecting fleas trying to differentiate between the two, not to mention myriad variables in guitarists, amps, pedals and settings on each, including the guitars themselves. And, playability is also a big (pretty subjective) variable.

      Lol if you cant hear the very clear difference then you need your ears checked. The Strat is much warmer and the Les Paul much more depth to the crunch... 👂

    Strat is a crunchy Gibson is a fuller and thickness tone also sustain but I preferred strat because when I was begginer my first guitar is strat

      I’m a Les Paul man through and through, have 3 Gibson, an epi, and an AXL. That being said I do long for a strat! Used to hate them but now I feel the need to own one

    The funny thing is could swap the pickups out and reverse the sounds. I’ve got a hot rod strat, and all 3 of my LPs are totally different. Got one with PAFs, one with p90s, and one with Fishmans. Hell I’ve even got a tele with EMGs. 90%+ of the sound is coming for the pickup type, power and position.

    Originally, Les Paul was used in recording and MTV. Nowadays, a few tweaks in EQ and sound processor makes a better and fuller sound

    I like the bright vibrant sound from the fender but I also love the les Paul, it's a bit darker but has that bite. ❤😊 I love em both.

      Your far better off learning on a strat because you'll be better at knowing the notes and when it's in tune. Les Paul too muddy, is ok the people who like the Les Paul are tone deaf anyways

    I think they are very similar in sound and especially tone. The amp settings probably contribute to the sound more than the guitars.

    Watching Sullivan play live on a strat then switching to his les paul, his tone was night and day different. His playing was even better

    what amp was behind it? In my experience, Most gibson have a better sound on a marshal amp.
    And a fender amp was build for a fender and sounds evenly awesome as the other combo.

    I have two Mexican strats an American Strat with 1984 serial # and a parts caster .. all 4 get played but my studio Les Paul never gets played

    2 points as 16 year musician:
    1. Stratocaster - most on High Frequency
    2. Gibson - most Mid to Low frequency.
    Note: major factor pick ups (amps may factor a bit) both have distinctiveness, taste may Vary, good musician knows how to apply good Music either the 2 of them

    Nowadays you can use a stomp box or a processor to make them almost indistinguishable.

      When the engineer uses the mixing board there won't be a difference, if you want a be a good guitars learn on the strat because you wanna know what the notes are and when it's in tune. This is so important, a huge difference between a musician and not a musician.

    Unpopular opinion: Positions 1 and 2 on the Strat may as well be joke settings. 3 (middle) through 5 (neck) are the only legit options. I say this as a Strat lover.

    On this lick from eye of the tiger sounds better with the strat...I will try it on my Ibanez guitar...It sounds deep and its bright on the low strings...
