It was saddly impossible to stop her from smoking.
You have no idea at which point she was a wondefull friend and so generous. Our fights to pay the bill at the restaurants where amazing, she was used to call the restaurant one day before to prepay... My last concert with her was in Avignon, Schumann concerto one year before her death, we all miss her very much.

@@Petitgirard1 She sounds like she was a truely great friend and I think you are blessed to have known her and we to still be able to hear that wonderful passion for music. Thankyou for sharing this video and allowing all to hear the beautiful music that her talented fingers and soul were able to play.

Her interpretation of Chopin's nocturnes is, in my opinion, one of the best. She is top of the list for me, with Rubenstien and Rachmaninoff

J’adore. I’ve lost my French. But I’ve never heard anyone play with more tender nuance, intent, and essence than Brigitte Engerer.
She doesn’t play a piece, she gives a world.
Only the French have that kind of delicate anger, love, insuiation, purpose, finesse, and pure heart.
I want to play Chopin as she does. She plays it even better than he wrote it.

@@ApotropaicV I agree; also, when playing live, she was totally involved so that her phrasing, sound and expressiveness were really moving and exciting. Think she was a true musician, I use to show my piano students her videos as a relevant reference.
