I personally think the second movement of Ravel's concerto in G major is one of the most beautiful things musical arts have ever produced. The transition around 6:00 is a true human achievement.
This movement inspired one of Jacques Brel's most lyrical songs, "Les déserpérés", whose score was written by Gérard Jounannest, Brel's acompanist at the time. Check it out.
Just as the other comment said, this piece gives many orgasms to listeners. You expect this? I 'd like to play Bach's at my funeral. Of course playing for your parents is something comforting even thousand times. Hope you get better and better.
I seriously cannot find any piece more beautiful than this... i've looked for years and this is seriously the most beautiful thing ever created... Someday i wish to play this with an orchestra
@@hxppythxughts7149 Oof, I was not expecting to hear that piece mentioned. Not trying to be negative, but I just think that first concerto of Chopin’s is a slog. One of Pogorelich’s most recent recordings of it was decent-ish… Chopin is just the most rewarding when he didn’t have to write for more than one or two instruments/players 🤷 The Chopin here as I see it would be either Ballade No. 4 in F minor or Prelude Op. 28, No. 4 As far as a recommendation for a beautiful piece to rival this stellar Grimaud performance? It’s tough, but the middle part of the first movement of Tchaikovsky’s 6th symphony with the swooning strings has a similar sort of tenderness to it to me. There’s a short orchestral piece from the earlier end of Webern’s career entitled “Im Sömmerwind” that is a bit less straightforward than the Ravel, but I think is beautiful. My opinion of what are the most beautiful in the traditional, romantic sense would be a tie between R. Schumann’s Introduction & Allegro Appassionato in G and the Cello Concerto in Bm by Dvořák. I’d go with Richter on the Schumann and either JdP/Barenboim or any of Rostropovich’s for the best selection of the Dvořák (although I slightly prefer the version he did with Ozawa personally).

After the hauntingly beautiful opening piano solo, the first-time listener might wonder how Ravel could possibly improve on such perfection. Then they hear the recapitulation, with the melody spun out elegiacally on the cor anglais with the delicate filigree embellishments on the keyboard, culminating in the long final trill on the piano over gently sighing phrases on the strings and they go "Oh..."

This is wonderful. Ravel makes a beauty that is fragile, but somehow survives the undercurrents of dissonance, which for me makes his work more precious than that of many more expansive composers, and seems to encapsulate our stormy life on this planet. I do love the glory of Handel, and the spiritual serenity of Bach, but it’s Ravel who speaks most intimately to my heart.
Fills my heart . Que maravilla! Absolument sublime ! Amazing!!! Wonderfull!
For me, this music is a journey to a magical realm or state of mind. The solo piano part is when you try to enter the realm, as if you are saying a password. Then, when the rest of the orchestra starts playing, you enter this magical world that you didn't know before. The world itself is made out of light and happiness but also out of sadness, sorrow and desperation. There are no humans in this world, it's only nature. It merely depicts the profound beauty of this nature on its own. Life comes and goes, it literally goes by; everything "just happens".

The Adagio assai of Ravel's Concerto in G is the sort of music I just couldn't live without. Thanks for this heartfelt performance, Pri038 P.S.: every time I listen to it I find it so hard to fight back my tears...
Such intense and sublime moments, Helene Grimaud is such an amazing performer and look at the beauty of their looks to each other, sentimental. I couldn't even imagine how one and only Ravel felt when writing this magnificent composition. When Classical Music and Jazz are together as in this incredible composition, the intensity of music captures all the emotions of humans can feel at one time. Music is our universal language and as great Oliver Sacks emphasized "One does not need to have any formal knowledge of music - nor, indeed, to be particularly "musical" - to enjoy music and to respond to it at the deepest levels. Music is part of being human, and there is no human culture in which it is not highly developed and esteemed." and "Music is part of being human". Let music conquer our lives friends. The life is more meaningful when you dedicate yourself to an art form. Peace.
Hélène Grimaud 2009 Ravel PC in G major, Vladimir Jurowski, Chamber Orchestra of Europe; Recorded at Cité de la musique, Paris, France on January 24th 2009
I don't know what he intended but I get the sense that Ravel is expressing the essence of Aging, Compassionate Care and Death in this movement. The disjointed piano plods along like the elderly. The first time there is treble fibrillation, the accompaniment comes in like compassionate caregivers. Then there are happy flights of fantasy (Alzheimer's?) in the right hand of the pianist, like butterflies. Until it ends with the final fibrillation and peace.

This is the most beautiful piece of music I’ve ever heard in my life such a longing
Comment tutoyer les anges ? Cette oeuvre magnifique nous y aide allègrement !

Was there ever a doubt as to her talent?
magnifique interprétation .... j'adore
Peace.

Sublime interpretação de Helene Grimaud. Ela é sempre maravilhosa! Saudações de Brasil!
