Lovely to see Al getting hugs from girlfriend - that's a wonderful surprise from Mum and Dad! Scary thought that so many older houses hold such crappy surprises for the unsuspecting homeowner - where's the Building Inspector been on these cowboy jobs? Good to see you two back at it, bread and butter jobs that you do so well. Keep safe guys!
Hi Steve and Alex another building masterclass on how it's done properly to create another safe home after the dodge city cowboys, it was a delight to see Alex's face and brought a lump to the old throat a fine surprise indeed, anyway stay safe guys you are the best!
Great work again! Really neat turning the soldier course over. You'd never know you'd been there. Shame about the narrow scaffolding. I reckon it wouldn't have been too hard to widen it - just put new verticals in and take the originals out. Could probably do one new and then move the removed pole along.
nice to be back on my computer to see you properly as we have just come back from our holiday to celebrate our 53rd wedding anniversary and sorry i could not watch last night as we were coming home , your first blue blade was a bit wonky but you got there and watch out for any bullets left over after the cowboys ,LOL thanks for the video looking forward to the next one.
must take a longer to budget it than do it right lol. i have just waiting for my new house which was built in the 60's needs a small amount of pointing what sort of pointing mix would i need
Carpenter & Joiner here, I have never in 37yrs of chippying encountered a 3 board scaffold. No wonder you was struggling your tits off working on that. I've encountered a few proper dodgy scaffholds with traps or other dangerous things that I've refused to work on until they were sorted out. It's staggering how many cowboy scaffolding firms are operating.
Love your vids. As an Electrician it is always good to get an insite into how other trades operate. I was just wondering how, when Alex mixes the cement, you know that it will dry to the same shade as the origional cement in between the existing brickwork?
Wow what a discovery, the inventor of the brick slip! Lol always makes me wonder if an insurance would pay out if there was a collapse to a house only for them to find out the lintel wasn't installed correctly in the first place, and the FENSA scheme is pointless because only covers the window installation, installers need more responsibility putting on them when surveying for new windows.Nice suprsise for Al, Keep on trucking guys.
Excellent work as always. Can I just ask but I have a few windows like this that the soldier course or whatever is lower than the stretcher course above window. Does this mean there's no lintel and that the brick works sat on top of the window? House built 1900-1905. Obviously windows changed but just wondering if I need to sort them out. Currently no bowing or cracking issues I can see. Thanks.
Don't be so hard on Cowboys. I was a Commercial Carpenter for years and also a horseman,a Cowboy. I was also a Farrier, another type of Cowboy, yet did very good work. I lived in Texas as well. I get your meaning, but we're not all Gobshites!
Hi cowboy builders really get me why do there do what there do. Our house was typical cowboy builder some of the things there did like put a concrete floor in the kitchen and the downstairs bathroom there never took out the kitchen units or toilet there just concrete up to the units and cut the bottom of doors off, the toilet was concrete around so it was in the concrete not sat on top. The list is endless what there did.
How someone could do this & then walk away knowing that they had completely bodged the job AND held their hand out on payday is beyond me.. Well done you two putting this right for your client, it's so much easier doing it right in the first place though isn't it.. it makes me wonder how many houses in the area are the same considering how many went up around the same time one would assume the same cowboys worked on them ?
dont be to hard on the brikkies that put on those dodgy bricks and lintels steve ...its hard to do good work after a weekend of boozing and smoking meth eh
I gather looking at what you had to contend with Steve the last lot were bodge it grabit and scarper. What a mess I'm glad it wasn't me having to sort that dog's dinner out. Thanks for shearing I did so enjoyed it. Please be careful I don't want to see Alex telling us all that you had to stop. Speaking of Alex I can see he has been busy sorting out those bricks and its nice to see his young lady in the clip. All the best and all my best regards Ken.
I find it scary how many bodger builders there are . Presumably if we are looking at an original build it is an indictment on the companies that employ these brickies. If the problem has been caused by window replacers then it is high time some kind of quality standards inspectorate took a look at the work being done. Please reassure me that the work you are doing is not going to present the same problem in twenty five years time.
Just come across your videos.....so knowledgeable and very good to watch.. Well done both
Cheers John and welcome 🧱👍🏽

Could got some frame extenders on top of the window frame before the lintel went on. Would be better than wood filling the gap.
👍🏽

👍🏽It depends what’s been used when it was built 🧱👍🏽
@@SteveAndAlexBuild thanks for the reply bricks and morter
What was the reason for the silly 3 board wide scaffolding?
No idea but we really struggled 😒🧱👍🏽
Carpenter & Joiner here, I have never in 37yrs of chippying encountered a 3 board scaffold.

Have you noticed whether the supercharger is shortening or degrading the battery life?
No seems great so far 🧱👍🏽

👍🏽
Hi lads glad to see you showing people how it should be done wet done chaps. 😂😂
Thanks Keith 🧱👍🏽
looks like a #properjob (although I'm a sparky). It's not just you that finds utter garbage at every other job you go to
Such a shame 😒🧱👍🏽

Best to get someone to check in person 🧐🧱👍🏽
At least you don’t put weep vents in like most builders, ie break the spout off and push it in afterwards 😂
😆🧱👍🏽
👍💥👍
🧱👍🏽
Why on earth did they make scaffolding so narrow.?
No idea 😒👍🏽🧱
Someone has had his barnet cut I see
😉👍🏽🧱
Haircut explained,😂😂😂😂😂
😆😆🧱👍🏽
Don't you just love a good cowboy
😒😒🧱👍🏽

I like the Catherine video what a lot of old shit you come across
😁😆🧱👍🏽

What’s with these premiers? You might be star walls but you’re not Star Wars!
That’s what you think 🤔
Now then, Norwood. Behave!😇
@Mmmmetro 😆😆👍🏽🧱
Your lack of faith is disturbing.
I was making a joke really but wondered why we get ‘premiers’ rather than the video just uploaded earlier.
