      Spent a lot of time digging around other utilities in my career and it’s never fun. Somebody recommended a digger, most of the time when they were on the job with multiple utilities in the trench all they are good for is to take up space and look good Most excavating is done by hand in such situations.     Hi Steve & Alex. Well done guys. I would filled the hole back in and said it can’t be done. But as always you two get it done. I could see it was hard and stressful. Alex what super star you getting in there and getting done. Taking the strain off your dad. Great father and son team. Looking forward to the next one guys. 👍

    It won't be a problem rodding or jetting the branch on the Y.
    A jet line can be made to go up it with the right head on or if you use plastic rods they can be bent as their pushed in and sent up the Y.

    Well, that was a struggle!
    But as usual, you've ended up with a neat job.
    As you say, having a Y joint under the house isn't ideal but at least the main pipe carrying the toilets is roddable.
    I bet the dig for the foundation and other drain diversion was pretty grim as well.
    Not to mention bridging over the new sewer and services!
    You really must want that porch!
    Sorry to hear about the further delay on your hip operation.

    Moving the stop tap will be quite easy you can squeeze the blue pipe

    I'm about a fifth of the way through a job that's killing me right now. Because of the cancer & the arthritis i really really really wish i hadn't started & got someone else to do it but you know what it's like, we take on this shit but you know the worse part for me? It's self inflicted, it's my job, something that I wanted & so decided that I'd do it once I had a little bit of energy. That energy lasted about 20 minutes so now I can only do little bits at a time, visually making no headway at all.....

    In NZ we would get a registered drain layer in first to shift the outlets before, starting on the foundations.

      And we would not let a worker get into a trench with unrevetted sides higher than his head when he is crouching in the trench. Too many men have died from that type of stunt.

    The water meter is in a strange location, they are usually at the boundary where the footpath is or where the water pipe enters the house. If there is a stop tap in the footpath I would have been tempted to resite the meter further back in the grass.
    By the way their is SDS drill attachment you can buy to chamfer the waste pipes, I seen it on another youtube channel.
    Great work though.

    might want to get a spade chisle for your big hammer for digging things like this it works great fast and sves the back a bit

    This is probasbly a silly question, but with so many services in the way, once you are below the pipes level, why not use a high pressure washer like the Karcher and a largish wet and dry vacuum cleaner to suck up the resulting mud?

      @@SteveAndAlexBuild don't kick it before you try it :-). I realise the dirt was falling in off the sides, but you could put sheets of plywood to shore the sides up while digging and you'd be surprised how little water the pressure washer uses.

    I don't want to put a dampener on the job but if them are two soil pipes they should have stayed separate believe me when you split the soil pipes into one the chances are they will constantly block I've seen it time and time again but if they ain't soil pipes my apologies

    Hell Lads you both had a right faff on there who would buy a new build house? my daughter payed nearly 1/4 of a million for her house and it's just a bag of shite everything is wrong with it, I had to anchor the staircase properly because all the joints were opening up and rails moving around it could have collapsed and she has infants up and down the stairs it was so dangerous found out the main joints were glued with no anchor screws!

    Only problem the customer going have now if any of them 2 lines block you can only access one of them from the inspection chamber that's why the chamber was in that position so both line could be jetted or cctv'd

      They can always take the toilet out and rod from inside....... Had to do that before because them slim manholes are a nightmare to get the rods down and around the tight bend up upe pipe 😖

    It looks like it would have been easier to overdig the excavation site and then re-tamp everything instead of trying to work in a small hole. Then you can just put the pipes where you want to then cover them up when you are done. Just asking not criticizing.

    Why wouldn’t you get a skip at the start looks much more professional Steve no mess no eye sore for customer or neighbours and only move the spoil and rubble once ! Now you have to dig it and scrape it off a nice looking lawn

    Small digger 😂😂 Not a professional, but would an internal sealed manhole cover not been easier? Although im sure digging for foundations would still have been required.

    Always the same when working on your own house Steve that was a mare but done now .isn't it right a man hole each change of direction of pipe for the other pipe parallel to the house did a similar job a while back .
    The back garden a bit of work a mini digger needs 800mm to get through a door so should fit side gate mate .Retaining walls steps etc and the patio cost of quid that but be nice when done .

      @brickrightbuildinglandscaping . I have a nail infection which takes 6 months to treat and they won’t entertain operating till it’s clear so no op this year. Gutted but at least I know now and I’m not waiting for a letter every day any more . 😒🧱👍🏽
