Being a pro and a perfectionist is why you said it looks crappy Steve. In reality it was a complicated dig and the pour showed that what you did was spot on. Water meter is a pain but unless you want to pay ££££ you probably have the best work around. Nice to see Al doing a bit of solo work too with the pour. Top work all round.
Yes sometimes it’s hard to price a job where you don’t know all the difficulties.. it can be a pain .. form and concrete looking great ! Awesome job guys 👌🏼
great job lads, l had the same, my 6m-3m extension was going to take three of us 1 day, hit the water pipe, sewer pipe and rainwater pipe. absolute nightmare, glad you got a new contract keep it up Dave.
Hi lads I know you said it looks crap but it's fine and serves a purpose and when the concrete is poured it will become apparent I come across this all the time I build porches for a living the last one had all 4 services and 3 different pipes in the footing nightmare job but like I say your doing a great job and love the channel ps get rid of those shovels and get long handle pointed ones for digging out best of luck guys 😊
At least you now know if a neighbour ask for you to do theirs you can firmly say NO and run for the hills Well done lads one of best go to you tube channels
Well, hopefully we can see start to finish of your video and your extension outside your house will be interesting to see what it looks like when it’s finished
Hi Lads, I do share your pain.... Have been there and at times felt miserable at the end of a working day. Just keep soldiering on. Best Regards, Bob (Weston super Mare)
it causes more stress because you know if you do not get it right then you are in really BIG trouble with the Mrs and you know you are in the dog house both of you ,thanks for the video
Nice work but the water supply might cause an issue in the future if that boundary box fails you are going to struggle to repair it,what I would have done dug on the point of entry extended the duct and move the boundary box/ stopgap a meter back👍
I just placed an order for a porch. There is an inspection/rodding access point right in the middle of where I want the porch, the architect came round and seems unkeen to move it but I said "hey look at Steve and Alex's vid" - he went away to talk to building control to see if it can be moved.
Rear handle circles away is the way to go blade on left side so right handed people are looking at blade and being rear handled you have a longer reach keep the videos coming
Some jobs tou just think " why did I start this" this is where a lot of time in the ground can be swallowed up, you will be out soon, I think i would have been tempted to just do the strip to the front and use spanlites to bridge to the house.
intresting video guys thanks just a thought why not have the rain water pipe on the outside of the wall so you dident need to have a head ach trying to get forms around it
Look lad's it's a 💔 Job, But you Learnt from it, A lot of work in Renovation is in the Sub Structure (pipes/cable's Gas and water, Shuttering ,under Pining etc) 🧱 You Know how to price, Always Price Extra for below ground, if you're going to Get 🔥 it's below ground. Great content, your Lucky to Have the Good Weather, normally it be raining 🐈 and 🐕 on ground work 😉
Interesting video, very well explained. Some ppl hv the brick frogs up but u have them down …any reason, as I think the proper way is to have them laid up..pls explain if u can…thx v much
Hard going. It's all down to money and bad planning. When houses are being drawn, any drainage running parallel to the house front and back should be 3.5m minimum from the house.
Not an easy job to do with the drains and water pipe in the way. I think I would have bit the bullet and had the water meter moved away from the wall and then ducted the water pipe into the house wall. I was a water engineer with the local Water Company for 50yrs and it’s surprising how many people have built extensions over water pipes and then had a burst in later years. If they had ducted the pipe or diverted it then would have saved having to dig up the floor.
Love the 'Ticking Clock' as Steve mentally searches a distant memory for the correct terminology! Not fair to take the mick out of the wrinklies Al! And it's only a porch! BTW, DeWalt or Milwaukee for the average DIY'er?
@@SteveAndAlexBuild I know you do the editing Steve - just me taking the mick. Good explanation re De Walt and Milwaukee, bloody expensive but I guess you get what you pay for eh? Thanks.
Diese zusätzlichen Kurven in den Abwasserrohren könnten sich als fatal herausstellen, wenn dort Toilettenpapier und Bratfett eine Verengung erzeugen. Sowas lässt sich auch schlechter reinigen.
Hi both brilliant vids as ever can I ask I’m about to dig a foundation 0.9 deep by 0.6 width however the next door single storey wall is roughly 0.5m away from my trench should I be worried digging out the trench if I try and do the job as quickly as possible ? You advise would be most grateful
Haha love you guys but thats horrendous couldn't you just move manhole then put a renforced slab to build off drains can run under slabs as the weight is spread as long as you have rodding access. Would have saved you a load of heart ache. Sure it will look nice once finished
When you finish work out how much it would of cost. I just priced a porch 15k customer nearly had heart attack but I checked it and couldn't get price down. It was max size hipped roof fancy front door and side window. Complete job plasterered, joinery electrics ect. Let me know what you get it to
Good afternoon Chaps, Stressful jobs indeed. Sometimes it is the big sites/jobs. Sometimes it is the small jobs... Quite a few "unknowns," when pricing for work - and one of the biggest is the question what is underground on the job site? If only we were blessed with x-ray vision eh? How we as Builders & Tradesmen deal with these "unknown items" is a mark of who we are. Skills such as patience, determination, trade-craft, and sometimes sheer bloody mindedness get us through, as you so ably demonstrate in many of your videos. I always subscribed to the view of, "some you win - and some you blooming well loose." (as long as you get more winners....then your doing alright. Keep grinding Mate.... 👍😁🧱 PS: Sorry to hear that you can no longer upload from the scheme with the T & G insulation batts. I suspect that will be a Pukka - looking job when finished. PPS: Keep "pinning" the trolls - they deserve no less. And I see you had a couple of particularly vindictive and spiteful examples recently. An unfortunate side effect of social media. 😜😁🧱👍

Tough job guys. The double bend in the surface water pipe is a worry, any debris from the roof could cause a blockage.

Yes
Hi Lads you should watch RR building there went to the Milwaukee show showing the latest stuff from Milwaukee

have you ever thought of letting someone do the drains & you do just the brickwork & other light work ;;
Yep 👍🏽

Just a quick comment on the description for the video. Its "surface" water pipe...!

You must not be into Plumbing because to move the stop tap is so easy extremely easy

Could you not use a raft and leave the pipe there?
Wouldn’t have a clue how to do a raft
