Glad you’re playing Gerry again. You guys are ahead of the curve. He’ll be massive in the states in the coming 12 months. You’ll both love his live performances at TRSMT in front of his home Glasgow audience. Would love to see your reaction to this...or his new single, Ghost.
He is very famous in the U.K. especially Scotland where he is huge and can sell out stadiums. I'm not a big fan personally but respect the fact that he has done everything with no major label backing.
@Calisparkz2 he got big because someone saw a Facebook video and thought, "we can sell that". He's not untalented but in ten years he'll likely still be on the fringe if the UK music scene.
He is singing the story of my life during my teens and 20's in the east end of Glasgow, many many thousands of Glaswegians can make that exact same claim and that is why Gerry Cinnamon is so big in Scotland.
It does what good musicians do. He takes u there with him, reminds u of yourself so u easily relate. Sings about dark things in an upbeat, nostalgic way. Just telling the truth. His lyrical talent is great. U can tell I'm a fan. 😁😁
Been many years since I've been drinking on a golf course (or a graveyard for that matter) but it has happened...on more than one occasion. I'm sure other Scots will relate ;)
Whilst currently drunk I feel I must point out to folk not from my part of the world that 'drinking on a golf course' isn't just having a drink whilst playing golf, it's about underage drinking..and the places you would do that, away from the public eye. I mean it was always dark when we were gubbing cheap cider or buckfast on the golf course. The cemetery was another good hiding place lol
@@nathanmcnulty6407 Gerry's song Ghost is the most Springsteen esque song of recent times, Sam Fender is manufactured , theres no way he wrote that song, it's instantly forgettable record company drivel. Obviously not a UK band but War On Drugs' Lost In The Dream has a great Springsteen quality to it as well.
He just sold out the oldest stadium in the world, Hampden Park the home of the Scotland 🏴 International team, 100,000 over two nights 🎶🎸... It's amazing to watch him from busking and playing the bars in Glasgow to touring the UK and afar...wee snake hips God bless him
I’m from Italy, I don't remember exactly how I came across this guy, but I was sure from the first moment: he deserves to be famous all over the world! And when I found out that he had to open for the Dropkick Murphys... boy, my new favorite singer who opens my favorite band of all time (yes, maybe I'm an atypical Italian). It kind of reminds me of my favorite singer from my Spanish period, Fito y Fitipaldis (also very famous at home, but hardly at all abroad). Please make him worldwide famous!!
I first heard gerry when he was in the cinnamon, which I realised good things were to follow, they did he went solo & made it more uptempo, his like of Neil Young, Johnny cash defo helped him on the way to being so fuckn good, may he keep rocking in the free world 🕊️
So glad you all love Gerry Cinnamon. I've done security at gigs he has played at here in Scotland and everyone loves him. In some way, every Scot can relate to that man in one way or another. We are all Council kids at heart. Growing up on Council House estates the kids grew up in gangs and still do. Only when I was a kid, we didn't have mobile phones and our curfew time was when the street lights came on, which in the summer in Scotland could be 9.30 to 10pm at night. School nights we where all in, bathed and bed by 8pm lol. We made our own fun. Making gang huts in the vegetable factories wooden crates which where stacked 4 or 5 high and 10 to 20 wide. These crates where like 4 feet squared. We would 'borrow' the dads saws and saw tunnels through the crates. The factory bosses left those crates there for us for years so we had our gang fort. Another factory had a large satellite dish that was never used, kept laid down next to the factory. This was about 15 feet across and went about 4 foot deep to the centre. It filled with rain, Scotland is great for rain lol. That was our cool down pool in the summer, even though our little town is right on the river forth and we have great beaches there. The next village over has a golf course so we would go hunting for lost golf balls which the dads would wash and bag up in 5s to sell to their golfing buddies for us, that was our spending money. If we did chores around the house we got some pocket money too. The dads made us all wooden stilts or go karts that we called bogeys or they made us ramps in the middle of the street so we could try stunts on our bikes. We would walk up to Braefoot Bay where there was an old war munitions site and we would find old shells that the dads turned in to money boxes for us to give as gifts to friends etc. Using the mother's pantyhose legs to put a tennis ball in to play Stoatie off the side of the house, always got us in to trouble when mum realised all her pantyhose only had one leg lol. Yep, Scottish parents and kids had more of a who dares, wins attitude in the 70s and 80s. You don't see much of that these days. The teens hang about bus shelters with their carry outs (booze) shouting abuse at folk etc. Or they are sat at home on their consoles or pcs. Totally different era now and it shows drastically. When you do see kids actually being kids you know what age their parents are lol.. As we went in to teenhood, we experienced drinkng around that same golf course, or at the auld Kirk which was and still is a creepy looking place, but we where still home for curfew time lol. Growing up in Scotland like us GenX'ers did, should be a requirement for every child in the world.
Aye he is here 🏴 but if you watch the very rare interviews he’s done he says he doesn’t want fame and all it’s trappings and he shuns the limelight
Drinking cider in the golf course🤣🤣 i can see that very golf course from my window 💯 gerry is class try diamonds in the mud its about living in glasgow/scotland lyrics are funny 🏴🏴🏴
Jerry!!!!! Class act and he goes under the radar outside of Scotland so glad to see you guys react to 3 of his tracks!! Take a look at Billy Bragg, Sam Fender, The streets and heres a bit of source material, take a listen to manchester XS Radio it just churns out a constant stream of classics including Jerrys stuff and oasis and more. Keep it up and just keep enjoying doing what your doing, thats the thing that makes watching with you guys so good.
He grew his fan base organically via RUclips and hasn't signed a record deal , he does it all himself , listen to Hope over fear about Scottish independence whch put me on to his music , boys a poet.
This festival is a 10 minute drive from where he grew up in a rough area of Glasgow, transmit Festival was called T in the park the crowd are well-known for their energy and noise 👍🇬🇧
As a Scot myself. Can't understand how happy it makes us feel hearing someone like us. He grew up on a council estate, round drugs and booze. Came from the shit man. Songs are awesome as well like. The term 'concrete jungle' is quite a popular one over here. Especially to describe where he's from, Glasgow. That's the king of all concrete jungles 😂
What I think he is saying is no one can judge you apart from yourself and actions in life. Just do your own thing. He is a fantastic man, plays his heart out at every gig. He wants to create music himself, and he has knocked back producers. People in Scotland listen to his music and enjoy it and it has spread from there. This is yet another great review of Gerry 👏👏 There is a video of him on RUclips called Erratic Cinematic - A Gerry Cinnamon Documentary. Might make you chaps understand him better. Please review Primal Scream - Country Girl, Movin On Up, Rocks or Loaded.
Got a free pint the other day due to Gerry and this channel. Walked into a social club in Newcastle and they had him playing on the jukebox. Asked.the barman if it was Gerry and got mega appreciation and a free pint. He was Scottish.

Down to earth cool guy who should be more well known in this world for his talent, also give Lewis Capaldi a listen too another good writer and singer and Kevin Bridges for comedy xx
Paulo Nutini - Iron Sky (Live from Abbey Road) Another one of Scotlands finest. Everyone get on board with this one.
I'm certainly on board with it. :)

Seriously, as a guy from Scotland and Glasgow. I love you two guys. You are both quality.

Great shout fella.Sam fender is fantastic

Sam Fender has to quite close to the bottom of any "Need to Listen To" List to be honest.
