I feel like very few people were acknowledging the way Hawk handled the situation.
He knew the fight was unfair, plus got humiliated. That’s actually hard to take in. But he didn’t let that get into his head. He chose to accept his defeat and moved on and went on to enjoy the party.

He not only learned to move on, he learned not understimate an enemy and also to have mercy and forgivness, not being that angry looking for vengance kid.

26:50 you can't compare the instances at all, because Miguel and Sam were broken up here. In fact, Sam broke up with Miguel so he has every right to do what he wants. Sam can be upset, but she shouldn't be mad at Miguel for it. In season 2, both Sam and Miguel were in committed relationships so it was kinda both of their fault.

I don't understand why the show seems to want to put all the blame on Anthony for Kenny's bullying. Are they forgetting the curly haired menace that peer pressured Anthony into bullying him? Kenny should be making that kid's life a living hell

Miguel is not in the wrong but I understand from Sam’s perspective why she would be heartbroken there and crying. She still loves Miguel and it’s not easy seeing someone you love with someone else after a recent breakup. Also it wasn’t a situation where she broke up with him because she didn’t want to be with him but a situation where she broke up with him to work through her issues and also considering the fact that she found the necklace and said that she was in a better head space, her reaction to seeing that kiss made sense. I honestly think it would’ve been unrealistic had she shown no emotion at all
I get that, but at the same time, I don't think Sam needed to break up with Miguel, they see each other pretty frequently in their lives anyways, so I think all she needed to do is ask for a literally break or some distance, not an actual break up.
It doesn't matter. Anyone that tries to claim Miguel is in the wrong is wrong. A man has every right to move on if his girl breaks up with him.

She just says that she needs a break and than goes onto say "that doesn't mean we can't still be friends right?" and she never states that Miguel and her can get back together afterwards, she just leaves it at that, a break up. At best, you can say that Sam left it Ambiguous on whether they would get back together.

I don't understand Nathan's argument when it comes to Sam, because Sam did breakup with Miguel. It wasn't a break and it wasn't the day after like he used in his argument. We see Miguel struggling being his friend but slowly accept that reality throughout the last couple of months. Sam is justified for being hurt bc she was finding herself, but Miguel isn't obligated to wait for her either. He's character is complex and so are the relationships in this show which give a sense of realism. I think this show conveys teenage relationships really well and gives flaws to each character.

Miguel isnt wrong for what he did, it was heavily implied by Sam that they were broken up. Also it wasnt “a couple days” it was at least a month, the show itself says this….bro is allowed to meet someone even if Sam was about to make up with him, cause we know that they’re gonna get back together, but within the show’s verse, they didnt!
obviously it’s understandable why sam would feel bad about miguel kissing another girl but miguel has every right to. she broke up with HIM and she can’t control whether or not he can talk or in this case, kiss other girls and he can’t do the same to her either. they’re broken up.

Sam is the one who broke up with Miguel and, if I"m getting the timeline right, it's been all summer they've been apart. The season showed Miguel slowly accepting the breakup culminating him telling Johnny in this episode that he was cool with he and Sam just being friends. At the same time, I don't blame Sam back in Season 2 for kissing Miguel because she was drunk and obviously not over him, jealous of him and Tory, and she just found out Robby lied to her about Miguel not returning Mr. Miyagi's Medal of Honor. The difference to me is that Miguel didn't need excuses to kiss the random girl, or anyone else for that matter, because he and Sam were actually broken up.

Here's the thing: Everything about Sam at that party very much implies that she intended to get back with Miguel AT that party.
She's looking at the necklace like she plans to do something with it, she's dressed like she's trying to impress someone (Way more fancy dressed than everyone else at the party, if you notice), she's got this confident swagger as she walks into the party AND she beelines it for Miguel's apartment instead of naturally moving through the area. So clearly she has a plan... that is ruined the second she sees Miguel making out with another chick.
In that context: I completely understand Sam's reaction, even if it's not really Miguel's fault.

Davion is quite literally my favorite person on this channel. I find myself agreeing with him most of the time and he’s hilarious 😂
1) Hawk beating Kenny was absolute BS but it honestly didn’t bug me that much because I took it as it was because it was for the story and the story only. I know Kenny winning was ridiculous but it’s not like that fight makes Kenny a better fighter or anything. There’s 3 reasons Hawk lost, 1: Robby told Hawk to hold back on Kenny, 2: The ref was paid off, allowing dirty moves and robbing Hawk of points, 3: Kenny used the technique Silver taught him which is like Cobra Kai’s version of the pressure points which basically takes the fighter out of the fight. The only way I could have seen the same result with both dojos getting in was if Hawk absolutely destroyed Kenny and Tory and Sam rematched with Tory winning again. But that would probably cause Sam to just lose it and quit karate or something bc she lost again. So yeah the Kenny-Hawk fight was unbelievable but it was only done for story. It can be compared to when Demetri beat Hawk at the end of Season 2 which honestly shouldn’t have happened either but hey, it was for the story.
2) Neither Sam nor Miguel were in the wrong. Sam told Miguel she wanted a break which gives him the right to do what he wants because he is not committed. Not being biased or anything but from the way they were kissing it looked like the girl was more on Miguel than Miguel was on the girl, she likely initiated it but that’s just me assuming. Sam is not in the wrong because no matter how long you’ve been broken up, seeing your ex with another girl is always going to be heartbreaking, especially since they had only been broken up for a couple weeks and she was probably going to get back together with Miguel because she found the necklace. So honestly Sam had the right to feel the way she did and Miguel isn’t wrong for what he did.

They should’ve built up Kyler as the main student of Cobra Kai, not Kenny. Not only does he lack the experience to compete with miygai-do, he’s like a middle school schooler
Yes, as much as I hate Kyler it would make so much more sense. The Kenny stuff is laughably ridiculous and the only negative mark I have on the show.
He's a freshman in high school now. I agree that some of it is silly but I can suspend disbelief for a lot of it because he's fast, and he's deceptive. And it's not like he's going around kicking everyone's ass. Every time he's fought someone bigger like Robby or Hawk, he only really got hits when they were taking it easy on him. Robby beat the shit outta him in the tournament when he was serious and Hawk made him look like a child when they were at the pool.
Facts , you would’ve thought that’s where his character was going after they showed how good of a wrestler & fighter he was. Seems like after season 3 they decided to just make him a side character that only makes jokes and gets beat up
25:41 Kenny got the first point against Robbie in the tournament too; and it was in a similar way that he got the first point against eli/hawk... plus, kenny's small stature has been an element of surprise against his opponents, which is a theme present with his character for some time, so it's ridiculous to say that he shouldn't of even gotten a point against eli/hawk. Eli/hawk would've lost to robbie in the tournament if robbie didn't hesitate in delivering the final blow when he saw how Kenny was reacting with such anger & violence.

If it was Hawk back in season 3, Kenny would’ve gotten destroyed.
Halfway through the fight tho you could tell hawk started to not go easy on him and still lost which is why everyone hated this scene. I get why they wanted that to happen to kind of reverse the roles of hawk and Sam but I think it could of been done better. Maybe they could have had hawk be dominating the fight but then gets hit with the silver bullet and isn’t able to continue, making Kenny still win.

the scene at the pool happens in episode 3 & people are acting like Hawk couldn’t absolutely wash Kenny like a dirty pair of socks. put them both in a real world situation without rules/paid refs; Hawk literally plays with Kenny & shrugs off his hits
Because of bad writing, too. After Kenny won the first point, Hawk said screw it and wasn't going to take it easy. Hawk looked bad in that fight even with the cheating all because the writers needed Kenny to win. It should have been like the Sam-Devon fight where Hawk left no doubt he was the superior fighter and the ref would have had no choice but to award him points.
I started watching cobra kai bc of yall since i wanted more reactions to watch with you, and it’s now one of my favorite shows!! So glad I managed to catch up! Love ur reactions, can’t wait for season 6 :D
Wait, how was it wrong for Miguel to kiss a girl after he and Sam broke up? Even if he was under the influence of alcohol, it’s not the same incident compared to when Sam and Miguel kissed in season 2. I’m not calling out Sam here because she had just found the necklace and so she was understandably conflicted and upset. However, don’t point fingers at Miguel here because 1. He didn’t know Sam was near and 2. Sam WAS the one who said she wanted a break from him.

We got to see Hawk's green mohawk! "It's time to uncage the Hawk" part was awesome! Tory did the right thing to disappear because she knows that she'll be cheated to win again and Terry's going way too far again! I'm glad Sam was able to win with Miguel's support! The more the ref looks at Terry, the more everyone's going to notice it & he'll face bigger consequences for helping Cobra Kai win and being unfair to Miyagi-Fang.
Miguel is in the clear, they’ve been broken up for a while and we’re becoming friends again as he told Johnny. People do go see other people after a break up in order to get over pain or start to move on.
Also Miguel is the best fighter, not Hawk. How many times have Hawk beat Miguel where both are healthy? Zero. Miguel beat Hawk in their fight in season 2. Miguel beat Robby in season 2 and this season in real fights; Robby was on the ground until Miguel stopped fighting.

Miguel is not in the wrong at all, because Sam broke up with him, and then had the nerve to say, "We can still be friends", which is code for breaking up, and that means Miguel is free to do whatever he wants, people like Nathan are trying to say that what Miguel did is the same thing that Sam did, heck no, Sam was dating Robby when she kissed Miguel, she is a cheater, Miguel on the other hand is single, he can do whatever he wants.
Changing the rules was probably Silver's idea because you can tell how that ref hesitated. Also if I was in that show if Robby told me to go easy on Kenny, I would be like (Why should I hold back, look he may be in Cobra Kai, but that still doesn't mean I don't need to beat some sense into him)

After Watching many ur guy’s cobra Kai reactions, it’s so obvious that Nathan is such a simp for Sam. This man literally gets mad if u say anything bad abt her, even if he knows ur right. Davion and Cameron r absolutely right here at the end of this reaction when they make their points. Nathan then tries to bring up other points as a way to defend himself. Robbie wanted Hawk to go easy on Kenny, so that's what he was doing, but Kenny was fighting more dirty, and pulled off some illegal moves. Especially that last one that knocked the wind out of him. If Hawk was allowed to continue he would have defeated Kenny easily, but the ref was paid off once again by Silver. So Hawk wasn't nerfed, he didn't know there was a dirty ref at the time, so go easy on Hawk. Sam and the rest of the Dojo, started to realize how dirty the ref was. Johnny and Daniel told her to make every hit undeniable. Wish they would have said that to Hawk to, but like i said they didn't know at the time.
As a JustUs fan I COMPLETELY understand BOTH Davion and Nathan's point of view.....
Davion argues that Miguel did nothing wrong cuz him and Sam were NO LONGER in a relationship WHICH IS TRUE. In fact SHE broke up with HIM while he didn't want that, it may have been mis-leading when she used the words "a little break" or "time to figure things out", but IN THE END she implies that she hopes her and Miguel can still "be friends" as in NOT BOYFRIEND AND GIRLFRIEND. So no matter how she words it, she broke up with him. And now that they broke up, Miguel can be with who ever he wants to be with regardless if he's influenced by Alcohol or not.
On the other hand......
Nathan argues that even though she DID end things with Miguel, that doesn't imply that she doesn't care about him. You don't have to be with someone in order to care about him/her. In Season 4 Sam tells Robby even though they ended things on a bad note, SHE STILL CARED for him. Same here, Sam STILL had feelings for Miguel. And she got upset when she saw him kissing another girl cuz she was surprised to see him move on so fast while she was STILL hanging on to him, that's how you know that her idea to break up isn't what she really wanted after all. She only did it cuz she thought that she needed to "find herself outside of all this karate drama" in order to get over her depression about losing to Tory at the All Valley. If she had won, she probably wouldn't have broken up with him.
Nathan's point of view is weighted on the emotional side of the story, like "I know we broke up but damn are you gonna move on that quickly, meanwhile I even regretted breaking up with you and decided to mend things since Im STILL in love with you. Seriously didn't I mean anything to you regardless of all the other aspects (rebound relationships, alcohol, etc)?! That just HURTS." Cuz if you love someone at least show that you DID care about them and that you are sad to see them go. Don't act as if I didn't have ANY impact on you at all (emotionally).
Davion's point of view is weighted on the MORE LOGICAL side of the story, we broke up means we broke up. Regardless how you feel or how I feel about it or how we went about things, we are not an item anymore. So I can be with whoever I choose to be with and not feel bad about it since I broke up with her or in this case "she dumped me". Of course I'll be sad since you didn't even give me a definitive explanation as to WHY you actually wanted to break up other than "Im not okay", but what am I supposed to do stay sad forever, lock myself in my room and eat ice cream all day? I "Miguel" am not with that shit you feelin' me?
Both of you guys are right, but at the end of the day, one cannot be more right than the other, both points are UN-DENIABLE , plus its just a show so its not really something that is worth arguing over. 😂

Robby telling Hawk to go easy on him is literally stupid because with Kenny still being in Cobra Kai and knowing that he was going to fight dirty anyway does make sense because if you think about it back in Season 4 episode 7 Minefields, and when Kenny was fighting Robby, everybody was laughing at Kenny, but ended up surprising them with he ended up sweeping the leg of Robby, and Silver gave a really good speech, about using other people's opinions against them and using it towards your advantage and you can surprised them with your strength and Terry Silver teaching Kenny the Silver Bullet is literally the deadliest move you could ever do because one hit from that, and you will be fucked up for a while, so that is the best way to get rid of someone because you can take them out with one shot.

Of course, if you break up with someone and you see them move on incredibly fast, you'd be hurt. Is normal to be emotional, and Sam was totally okay for the way she reacted! But when you BREAK UP (cause that's what they did), you don't owe anything to the other person, you don't get to decide how fast they move on or remain single bc the same way you have your own feelings, the other person does too. I'd surely be the type to take my time, and even tho i'd be hurt if the other person is already with someone, who am i to say they're "wrong" for it when they're SINGLE? How can you be in the wrong when you're not in a committed relationship?
The point of the time that passes when you move on from a relationship to another one has to do with yourself, not the other person. You do what feels best for you, based on what you truly want. Miguel wasn't in a relationship, at least a month had passed (not that time matters imo), so he is not in the wrong. And if you wanna be real, you can see he wasn't even thinking about a new relationship or kissing anybody, it just happened.

The first situation they were both wrong, but In this situation no one is wrong. Sam broke up with Miguel and it hasn’t only been a couple of days the show literally shows a decent amount of time has passed. Also Miguel kissing the other girl doesn’t mean he didn’t care about sam or he’s over her. He still cares deeply for her but what is he supposed to do just wait for whenever sam wants a relationship again no he has to move on with his life but he still has that live for her.

Davion and Cameron are right, not saying sam doesn’t have a right to be upset but Miguel wasn’t with sam therefore he can do whatever he wants. When sam kissed Miguel back in s2 Miguel was dating Tory, that was cheating what Miguel did in s5 was not. And Sam was with Robby in s2 as well, therefore cheating.
24:06 - Yeah I knew that girl was going to flirt with Miguel especially when Sam arrived at the party to see him to find out she's too late! It WAS all Sam and her decision to end their relationship in the first place which is what led Miguel to unexpectedly kiss that random girl. She DID made Miguel miss his chance to give her the octopus necklace when they met up with each other.

Two things
1. 14:35 I'm not sure why Kenny was feeling so confident saying this when not even a month ago, Kenny was hella close to crying after the beating he took from Robby in the tournament
2. Why did they have to nerf Hawk so badly. Maybe if Hawk was given an arc to where he let the champ status get to his head and slack off on his training in the lead up to this, or maybe Cobra Kai sabotaging Hawk in some way before this fight to make Kenny's victory more believable, even if you want to say that Hawk held back, I don't think Hawk should have had a problem beating Kenny even if he took it a little easy on him for Robby's sake since he's very experienced by this point.
Exactly that what I hate about Hawk losing to Kenny he literally defeated Robby last season basically destroyed Brucks without a problem but you Hawk has a problem defeating a kid
They had to nerf him for story purposes. If Cobra Kai would have lost both times then they wouldn't make the tekai. If Hawk would have won then they would have had to make Sam lose again which they were not going to do
They didn't nerf Hawk bruh, they pumped Kenny up, it's time for the fanbase to accept Kenny is a great fighter now. If Miguel, Eli and Demetri can go from weak nerds to the best fighters in one season, Kenny can as well.

They nerfed Hawk sooo bad in season 5. To be honest, they should have Hawk be up 2-0 against Kenny, and then Kenny uses the ''silver bullet'' and the ref says that Hawk cant continue, so Kenny can still get the win..
Exactly, I have no problem with Kenny putting up a fight but Hawk should have been on the verge of winning before Kenny makes him forfeit with the bullet. That way Hawk wouldn't have looked weak, and they could show more of Kenny's growth like in the "leader follower" exercise that when things are desperate he's gon use anything to his advantage.

They never nerfed Hawk. Whoever this show nerfed it's Kyler, Kyler is already a wrestler before he joined cobra kai and as far as I know he also knew Miyagi Do because Robby taught him. But I never saw him combined his karate and wrestling skills he was only sticking to karate. And remember this show let him lost to a crippled kid.
And Miguel had the biggest plot armor in this show not Kenny. He literally beat Kyler while he just got out of the wheelchair 🤣
I mean, it can be both. I agree that they nerf Kyler to make him the show's court jester, but at the same time given Hawk versus Kenny's experience levels, there's no way he should have looked that bad against Kenny. I get the cheating thing, but the writers explicitly made Hawk look bad just to prop up Kenny, while when Sam was in the exact same cheating situation, they managed to make her look like a great fighter against Devon. It's bad writing, imo.

Miguel is NOT in the wrong. If anything, Sam is in the wrong for breaking up with the guy she really loves. Why couldn't Sam go through her "healing" without having to break things off with miguel. Literally makes no sense. Sam could have literally just said "hey i need some alone time with my friends and take a break from karate". No need to "break up". They did do Hawk wrong, but Kenny has been in training every day while Hawk hasn't been training since LaRusso shut down for a while. The only reasonable explanation I can think of how the writers can explain why they did that to Hawk.

Kreese told Robby to stop going easy which is when Kenny couldn’t touch Robby. It’s the same here, Hawk was about to get serious in the last round
