You actually need to do that, in the official release (Wilbur didn't do it here), you need to pluck the high D string once during the bridge, it wouldn't work it it was still tuned to an E.

Damn for everyone who doesn't know how to play guitar here, y'all are troopers. Everyone is different but even though I've been in orchestra for about seven years now from school, I've found guitar incredibly difficult to play. I picked up ukulele pretty easy only because of the experience with four strings. Music is a fantastic to way to express yourself and for any aspiring writers and musicians, if you don't know where to start, just play. Play til your hands hurt so bad they're sore. Play without worrying what anyone else thinks. Because the music comes from you. Why listen to the sound you want to hear when you can just make it yourself. Good luck out there y'all. Covid is hell but at least we've got music to keep the blood flowing and the hearts beating.
Wow, hard to imagine that this video would be what started my guitar journey. Looking around and finding my grandma’s old guitar, buying a capo from the local music store, and sitting in my room practicing this and jubilee line for 2 straight days. Now I can play all of YCGMA and every cowboy chord, along with some barre chords. 1 year in the making and still going strong!

When I was playing violin I kept breaking the same string so often that I had to get it replaced like 4 times within a month lol. I mean I've knocked my guitar over so many times because I'm clumsy and it's still fine :)

Around 7 months ago I wanted to play guitar but I lost motivation and ended up getting stuck unable to play barre chords Then I discovered Wilbur and something inside me just went. "(points finger) I WANT THAT. I WANT TO PLAY THAT. IF I CANT PLAY THAT BY THE TIME I DIE I AM A DISAPPOINTMENT." 3 months in, I can play barre chords and I can play two of his songs. I'm still on the grind. The fingertips of my left hand are as hard as metal now. I am not giving up though.

Update: So after being very dramatic and frustrated I realized: People are bad at teaching their own songs. Including Wilbur just saying "You can figure that out by sound." …I can’t. I haven’t even been playing for a year yet. For everyone like me: I recommend the video from Justin Rothberg. He actually explains it well and even I (a dumb fuck) can figure it out with time. Tip on tuning: Use Fender Tune. After signing up (for free) you can make custom tunings. I also made one for the tuning with the capo which is: 6F, 5C, 4G, 3C, 2E, 1A. Only issue is that for some reason Fender doesn’t let you put the 4th string on G so I just switch to my regular app for that one. But it’s usually alright anyways. Good luck and don’t give up! Progress is progress no matter how minuscule it feels. As long as your holding a guitar and doing something you’re making progress!

@@straeberrylemonade ok lesson for both of you. If you’re having trouble with a pick use your pointer finger and thumb. It goes on the side of your pointer finger and keep it there with the thumb. Guitar takes a lot of practice and it would take a while but I believe in you both.
Good luck yall! Guitar can be super fun and his music is mad fun to play, just make sure you’re actually also learning technique and the theory instead of just learning to play individual songs, it makes learning music so much easier

Those hammer offs are difficult on an electric or semi acoustic as you don’t really get enough movement on the strings to be able to pull on and off quickly. I’d suggest to anyone struggling try sliding from the twelfth fret back to his original position as it sounds just fine.

when i listened to the recording i kinda just followed along so it might not be right but for the verses i do: 1 2 3 4 1 2 3 4 down - down down up up down down the - is just a rest and the numbers indicate the beats on where the strum should land that’s pretty much the same pattern throughout, and to bridge the gap before repeating it i just do down up i hope this helps but if you have any questions feel free to ask :DD

U can get a clip on tuner for like 5 quid my guitar has a built in tuner but I suggest getting a clip on one

@@straeberrylemonade ok lesson for both of you. If you’re having trouble with a pick use your pointer finger and thumb. It goes on the side of your pointer finger and keep it there with the thumb. Guitar takes a lot of practice and it would take a while but I believe in you both.
@Aprianex It hurts a bit at first. You have to get used to it. I dont have a guitar but i have a Uke and it did take a while. Good luck :)
Good luck yall! Guitar can be super fun and his music is mad fun to play, just make sure you’re actually also learning technique and the theory instead of just learning to play individual songs, it makes learning music so much easier

Edit: the plucking is basically just the regular uke tuning and all you have to do is just pluck C E C A E in the rythym of it and you got the plucking but it just sounds higher

Those hammer offs are difficult on an electric or semi acoustic as you don’t really get enough movement on the strings to be able to pull on and off quickly. I’d suggest to anyone struggling try sliding from the twelfth fret back to his original position as it sounds just fine.

for the verses i go DDDUDUD DDDUDUD when you move your fingers to that chord where your second and third finger are on the first and second string of the third fret(NO SURE IF THIS IS ACCURATE. i'm lying in bed rn typing this BDBDJDDH whenever ur fingers r farthest from the capo and r on the top 2 strings fir the verses) hit that note TWICE

when i listened to the recording i kinda just followed along so it might not be right but for the verses i do:
1 2 3 4 1 2 3 4
down - down down up up down down
the - is just a rest and the numbers indicate the beats on where the strum should land
that’s pretty much the same pattern throughout, and to bridge the gap before repeating it i just do down up
