- March and April are the months when the cherry trees come into their spectacular, showy blossom. However their splendour is short lived.
Join me as I talk about my cherry blossom bonsai trees, and the beautiful cherry trees in the garden, including fuji cherry bonsai and wild cherry.

That bookshelf insert is so cool! Those woodland cherry tree is great despite it being a bit slower than you want and even the one from your front garden is very nice too look at. I love cherry trees even if the flowers can be slightly unpleasant to the smell sometimes. You have such an amazing collection!
Thanks. I expect to cut off the first set of leaves from the wild cherry trees - the second flush tends to be very much smaller.

Thanks Alex. There are some much darker varieties that I have seen in local parks and public spaces but they seem to start to wilt and droop much earlier.

They make great bonsai trees - such a pity their beautiful blossom is gone so soon
Nothing beats them jason. All of mine are in full blossom now and i just took a few short videos in between a couple of monster repots. I am sure that bigger tree would produce a few more lovely airlayers from it :)
I have tried air layering without success Xav. The Fuji cherry on the other hand grow like weeds 😊

I life-time dream for me - to be in Japan at Cherry-Blossom time and visit some of the mountain temples and, of course, the Bonsai Nurseries. Can't see it ever happening - but we all have dreams.

Super video. It's got me itching to create my fuji cherry grove. Half way through I went out and re-potted my bird cherry, then came back in for the second half. I really enjoy the haiku too.

I have a very small one of these which I thought had died on me. There were blossom buds which all of a sudden burst into life. But before they did blossom I took it out of the pot and surprisingly there were very, very few fine feeder roots. Taking a leaf out of Peter Chan's book I repotted it in sphagnum moss, perlite, grit and akadama with a top dressing of sphagnum moss. Touch wood it now looks great and is full bloom. I will of course need to key an eye on it in the coming months. Yours look absolutely beautiful. A great video Jason. Thanks.

My First year with kojo-n-mai trees, in North West UK. Bought three from local garden centre near Preston last year, for reasonable money. only preliminary wiring and pruning done so far, letting the trees grow and develop for a while. I liked the look of your windswept trees, might have a try at that style myself. Enjoyed the video.
Kojo-no-mai are fairly easy and forgiving trees. Mine are just beginning to open now and should be in flower n tye next couple of weeks - a bit early. Good luck with yours 👍

Beautiful trees and inspirational for the one I bought. Mine was bought at a garden center, and it is full of buds on the branches. I want to use seaweed liquid fertilizer on it.
Mine are also just now beginning to bud out. 🌸🌸🌸
Very nice, I have two that are a year old. I bought them when they were as thin as a toothpick but now they have reached 10mm in thickness. I'm wiring them in an interesting way but I'm considering repotting them in a larger pot to increase growth even more but they do well in a Bonsai pot. I've already given them 8 hard prunes. Its March 23 in Denver, I keep these one's indoors so they've grown all winter. Should I or should I not re-pot? Hmm
Do you want to thicken up the trunks? Or are you happy with current size.

I'm currently waiting on my first 'Kojo no mai' to be delivered. They are available in the States but not very common at all.
