While I don't mind alternative wood fretboards, rosewood is my favorite, so it's good to see Fender has gone back to using rosewood slab fretboards on Vintera II models. It didn't make sense that the cheapest guitars from China had rosewood boards the last few years - but not Fender, except on expensive models. Although some Mexican models, like the Robert Cray hardtail, have always had slab rosewood fretboards (wonderful jumbo frets on that one too). I've never played a Jaguar, but now have the itch which needs scratching, next time I visit a guitar store a Jag will be in my hands. We are blessed with some excellent guitar stores here in Portland, I need to get out more. Jags have a different sound, and a very nice sound it is!
yeh I think we will see rosewood back on the player series too before long, it still doesn't make sense its only on the Venter II And higher end signature models like the isbell, chrisse hyndes, The Robert cray you mention, Joe strummer and others haha. Sounds like a trip is due - You should definitely try one :D
Great catch, have fun with it. Nice drive to Wales too - love those leafy lanes. Nashville Tuning can be a lot of fun to add sparkle to fingerpicked style parts, I've used it a lot in the past on acoustic and electric . . . I have an old half size Ovation - put Nylon Strings on, Nashville Tuning but in A and now have a cross between a ukulele (strumming) and the top end of a harp (finger picking) - lotsa fun in the studio!
That's a great buy Paul. I'd have snagged that in a flash, I reckon! I'd likely consider changing the pick guard & like you tortoise shell would be the obvious choice. Congrats on your new acquisition. 👍😎

Yeh i can see how it would be great for layering in the studio and adding to a recording in a unique way for sure.
