I grew up in Augusta, I live in North East Ohio now, but it'll always be my home town. I wish Fort Discovery was still around to be part of this video, but watching it made me smile, so thank you to those who made it.
Is this a decent place for outsiders to move to? I'd expect the small business owners to be nice to talk to, but what about the residents? It might kind of be like how Portland has become for me, just on a small scale so I need to ask questions. Its just as bad if one has a New England accent in Oregon as it would in the south.. People would like it more in GA I believe, but I still might have some of the same issues, I dont know.. I mean I am single, 40, want a slow pace life with some jobs I could get. Cant afford the coastal states, but at the same time I dont want to feel like I need to go to church to meet people also.
@@LongLeggedOne Yes it's a great place for "outsiders" or transplants as I call it. We moved to the Augusta area from the Chicagoland area in 2015 and haven't had a problem "fitting in" We love it here, have made plenty of great friends and the pace is slower giving us the opportunity to focus more on a better quality life. And no you don't have to go to church to meet people here.
@@LivinginAugustaGeorgia Excellent. If I dont go to Augusta, Im going to Columbia which also seems like a good choice and close too. within an hour. Cant seem to lose with either one. GA has Atlanta and Savannah though, I wonder if that makes Augusta different too, I dunno.
I left Augusta in 1965, i visit my brother and sister maybe ever other year. It not my home anymore, i live in THE NORTH WEST GA. WOOD, liberally! This big old log cabin of mine is seting in the middle of 19 acres with deer, turkeys, fish in the pond, I've never had any thing stolen for me, i have good neighbors, no noise no youngsters running tru my yard. My son live need by and and a bunch of stepkids mustly girl My brother's farm is completely surrounded by townhouses, he's 86 now, when he builds the House on granddad farm there wasn't a house to be seen in any direction. Augusta is wall to wal to the county lines, why would i ever what to move there ever again
Would love to visit. I was born there in 1973 at Ft Gordon but don't remember we moved in 74. I'm planning on visiting someday. Thank you for sharing this video
@@LivinginAugustaGeorgia I rented an apartment in the champions pine lane place but I’m from Chicago. It took me weeks to get used to those birds early in the morning

Good video. I am doing some research on new place to move to on the cheap, and I might be into Augusta, I just want some opinions. I am single, 40, MtF Transsexual, in Oregon but want to leave due to high costs and not fitting in. I like music to a point, 2nd amendment. Good food. No pot or weed, cigars instead.. What are the chances I'd settle in fine?
You may fit in fine though Augusta is more in the conservative side! Maybe you’ll fit in just fine! Good people and a lot of diversity contrary to popular opinion!
The Robot guy at the end of this video reminds me of the “They Live” Movie. Weirdo. They walk amongst us. Reality. Like what we’re seeing in the world right now. But, God wins in the end!
I lived in Augusta Georgia for nine years and those were some of the best years of my life!
So sad it has gone SO down hill lately. Why are all the buildings downtown dilapidated???
Do u have to attend church to meet people though? I been hearing that. I might not wanna come now.

GOD FORBID
An extremely nasty, rundown and violent city. Nothing at all to do but go to Walmart, waffle house and chain restaurants.

Obviously this is all a PR stunt. All the commissioners chased off other businesses despite it being a Tier 2 location.
