Anything after 1941-42 or so it's too far off for me to care about. Also, I think there would be major pushback if they tried to extend the copyright terms again. People have a much different view of copyright laws than in 1998, and there are a lot more copyright reform advocates in Washington today. I could also imagine Google, Wikipedia, EFF, Creative Commons and many others being fiercely opposed to such a change. The 1998 extension didn't really have any opposition, and didn't get much publicity due to the Monica Lewinsky scandal at the time. Even if they were to somehow extend it again, I think it would only be for individual authors rather than corporations. Democrats do not want to pass a bill that would help major corporations, and Republicans don't want to benefit "woke" entertainment companies like Disney and Warner Brothers. (Congress had a GOP majority when the 1998 bill was passed) The main reason copyright was extended in 1998 was to match Europe's copyright laws. Most countries have switched to Life + 70 years, and very few have more than that. The only countries I see extending it in the foreseeable future are ones that have less than Life + 70 years.
