Yay for selecting the Oklahoma Redbud! It’s going to look so nice in your front yard. I have one and love it’s spring flowers and the heart shaped leaves are so pretty. I was worried about it this summer with the heat wave in Texas, the leaves started curling. But it managed to pull through. It does drop seed pods but the birds seem to get the seeds before they hit the ground. I also have a Forest Pansy Redbud and a Weeping Traveler Redbud. Love redbuds 💜
Ah, my Oklahoma! 😍 Oklahoma redbuds are gorgeous! Stunning in the same way Cherry blossom trees are in the spring! I'm interested in trying another redbud variety, Rising Sun.
Oh yes I LOVE the rising sun…. Absolutely beautiful!!! What zone are you in??? I am in zone 9b line Jayne and they dont do well in my area… they heat is too much for them. The nursery workers told me they had problems with them in my area. Im wondering what they are crossed with being that the normal red buds do so well!
@@GardenHappy I'm zone 8b, in central Texas though, so I'm not sure how they would do for me either. I have an area where I think it might do ok as an "understory" planting. It would still get a block of direct sun in summer, but there might be enough shade to keep it from frying. Trying to decide between a Chinese Snowball Vibernum, that redbud, or a variety of lilac I found that doesn't need a long cold period (Monrovia produces it). All would be a bit of a risk in my area, but with my situation of lots of mature trees, they might be ok. No pay off without a little risk! 😆
I really like your choices! That snowball Vibernum looks like a hydrangea right? yet probably more hardy! I am so excited for for you and agree sometimes we just have to try. Sometimes we win and sometimes we learn! Hahaha
My Husband and I went to Lemuria Nursery today wow was fantastic Eric was so friendly and helpful we bought 3 Trees and several perennials and the prices were so great and the 20% even better Thank you for sharing will definitely go back there
So neat to see this video! I am actually thinking of adding an Oklahoma redbud to my front yard within the next month! I can’t wait to see yours in bloom this spring 😊
That tree would look amazing in ur front yard. I have an eastern redbud and its gorgeous during spring. The only thing i dont like.it drops alot of seeds and grow fast.i keep pulling them eveywhere.but other than that its beautiful. Canopy is awesome..❤😊
You will love the redbud they are awesome trees. Be sure you have the girls collect some of the leaves to press for valentines card’s. Have a wonderful day.
Love Redbuds! Beautiful tree. Yours will look fantastic in your front yard. I planted an Oklahoma Redbud in my backyard last year and it's starting to fill out nicely. I'm in 9B as well (Sacramento area). Hope to see an update on yours!
I love Redbuds! Planted an eastern redbud in my front yard this summer. I also have a weeping redbud which I love to death! Suggestion on "Monster". When you're ready to take him on, tie him up with rope, cut it off with a hedge trimmer or chain saw to get rid of the foliage, then you can dig him up!
Oh my goodness I LOVE Qtip. I think that was a little silkie! And the GoldGlobe is gorgeous!!! You are gonna LOVE that bush! They make an awesome pop of color! ❤️❤️❤️😍😍😍👍👍👍
I think you made a great choice!!! The tree will have gorgeous blooms in Spring and the tree will not make a mess! I wonderful choice for your front. They grow so slow as well so it will always be a nice size! My oh my this will look amazing in Spring!!! WhoooHooo you did good Jayne! 🧡❤️💜💙💚
Janey, you will love the Oklahoma Redbud. I’m a native Kansan. The redbuds were just such a glorious burst of color after our long grey winters. Good choice!
So now I can't wait for Halloween to be over to watch video of you removing the other plant and replacing with that gorgeous tree. I am invested in watching it grow and bloom. P.s just purchased my Mandavillea that you recommended. Yay!
I love Lumeria Nursery too! I first discovered it years ago when going to the Silveyville Xmas Tree Farm❣️ Love your choice of the Oklahoma Redbud. I’ve had a Western Redbud for about 30 years in my backyard & love it.
Love that redbud tree! Your parents love helping you. Being a mom of my own adult children, I can just tell that they love being with you and your family. As for that vertigo pennisetum, you need a bobcat with the fork attachment on it. Good luck with that job!
Good choice Janey- I have a mature Redbud in my backyard. It gets covered in purple blooms in the Spring that actually even bud out on the branches. Just wish the blooms lasted longer.
1:31 in & I’m already cheering 📣 Yay!!!! I 🎉knew it was this one!!! 🍻🎉😂
Good decision!
