one of america's greatest black comedians, Richard Pryor (rest in peace), was a co-writer in this movie. pretty much every time your racist meter counted on screen, it is probably because of him. he wrote all those things in with mel brooks (a jewish man). this movie designed to humiliate racists and racism by showing the stupidity of it all. it is there to make fun of racism in all it's forms. to demean the idea of racism. this movie is an attempt to put racism in it's place and laugh it out of existence. i might suggest, if you take a look at Richard Pryor's stand up comedy concerts, you will definitely see where the humor in this movie is coming from.
Well said. I was fortunate to see Richard Pryor live when I was young.
Richard wrote the dialogue for the racists.
Also notice the satire of the westerns.
well, Pryor wrote the Mongo lines, 'cause he liked Mongo
"Mongo only pawn in game of life." was a Pryor line
& one day, Pryor phoned.
He was in Detroit doing cocaine with a woman,
when he was supposed to be in LA helping write.
RIP Alex Karras aka Mongo went from a 12 year NFL career to acting in as the father of the hit show Webster.
He was also a pro wrestler. Hall of Fame in NFL and wrestling. Definitely a full life
We've lost everyone except for mel. 😢

The biggest star in the whole set.
The one and only Count Basie and his band.
This is one of the greatest anti racism movies of all time. It was written by Richard Pryor and Mel Brooks back in the 70’s when people in America were super racist. This movie pointed out how stupid racists are and showed how important it is to move away from being dumb racists while making everyone in the world laugh their asses off. 10 out of 10 greatest film of all time.
It's like you're watching a silent film and supplying non-stop commentary.
1. Mel Brooks played the Governor, the Indian Chief, the round-up thug with the aviator hat.
2. Mel Brooks doesn't just break the 4th wall he shatters, steps on and grinds it into the ground.
3. The preacher/Liam Dunn also plays in Young "Frankenstein" as Mr. Hilltop. Madeline Kahn also had a great roll in it.
4. Imagine how much fun this was to make.
5. The line, "You know morons" was ad lib by Wilder. Little's reaction was real.
6. "Look, it's comin' off".
7. Gig Young was supposed to play Jim but showed up the first day drunk so he was let go.
Wilder agreed to do this movie for Mel Brooks only if Mel would direct Young Frankenstein for him.
8. Richard Pryor was supposed to play Bart but he was going through his addictions at the time and they thought it wouldn't be a good idea. However, he did some of the writing.
9. Finally, Mel Brooks is the only member of "Blazing Saddles" still living.
I disagree with Mel Brooks being the only one still alive a couple other key players in the movie happen to still be alive and I’m not talking just kids from in the background. Burton Gilliam who played Lyle. And Robyn Hilton who played the Governor’s Secretary Miss Stein.
@@user-uv5yw3uw7q I stand corrected.

Michael is right.
It is a dumb movie.
I think that people reacting to "Blazing Saddles" at least need to know that every single line in this movie is a gag.
The writers, producer, and the whole cast is a who's who list of the top comedic actors of the time.
It would save reactors the struggle of trying to make sense of it, other than to just laugh.
All the racist jokes are funny because all of the racists in the movie are idiots. 😉
A humble suggestion: Try listening to the film's dialogue instead of talking yourself all the time - that might give you a better experience, you know.
3:02 Hollywood Westerns of the 1950-1976 were introduced by an orchestral score or theme song , usually sung by Frankie Laine. Mel Brooks advertised for "a singer like Franke Laine" and was surprised when the real Frankie Laine showed up for the job! Mel didn't tell him that "Blazing Saddles" was a parody of Hollywood Westerns, so it has the look/feel/sound of, say, "The Magnificent Seven" (1960). 5:16 Yep, Cole Porter wrote memorable railroad work songs like "I Get A Kick Out of You" (1934).;)
In 2022, Mel Brooks made an animated version of Blazing Saddles. Paws of Fury the Legend of Hank. Also, Gene Wilder only agreed to play The Waco Kid if Mel would produce Young Frankenstein.

How did they go too far?
Remember that it's supposed to be the Warner Bros commissary.
It's a really good joke too as the guy to the left ask the actor dressed up as Hitler
"How many days have you left Joey?"
"They lose me right after the bunker scene!"
No wonder since that's when Hitler died.😅
You guys talked over so much of the movie. You missed a lot of it
At the end it broke the 4th wall and kept it broken.

There are no rasism at all in the Jewish jokes.
Mel Brooks is Jewish.
He joke about it all the time.
He even made a cameo as a Jewish rabbi that should be friar Tuck in Robin Hood men in tights.
But before you watch that movie it's necessary to watch Kevin Costners Robin Hood Prince of thieves since most jokes refer to that movie.
As always with Mel Brooks there are references to other movies like Errol Flynns The Adventures of Robin Hood and the Godfather.
And in the end there's even a wink to Blazing Saddles.
You might want to watch this again without being high and talking over the best dialogues.
Just my thought too. Then again, viewing films are not for everyone.
amen
I love one of them saying I dont know what is going on lol how could you when you havent stop talking wow
The fella on the right in the white shirt was tortured. Subtext is not for everyone, neither is farce. It's not like these three are fans of free-form absurdist humor, I don't think they would enjoy 'Waiting for Godot' or 'Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead', either.
No no being high generally makes the movie better but they do need to shut tf up
9:31
The joke there is being hung like a horse.
Gosh, you guys did not get it at all, did you?
Somehow Lily Von Schtupp's song is even funnier watching people who aren't getting the joke
Believe it or not, the biggest controversy when it was released as the farting scene - critics thought it went too far.
These guys just totally miss the whole satirical points of this film.
I just LOVED you guys trying to do an American Cowboy Accent... Not bad.. but still funny af! Once again.. Loved it!! lol
Really enjoyed whatching your reaction to Blazing Saddles.
It doesn't have much of a plot because it is an anti racist parable and parable's are supposed to be simple.
I was surprised at first about your reaction to the Nazi imagery. Dressing up as villains in order to make the villain look foolish is a tradition of sorts in the U.S.
recommending 'a million ways to die in the west', 'the magnificent seven', 'django', 'the last samurai' and 'willy wonka and the chocolate factory'
Nobody is safe in this flick. Open your scope and you'll see it.
Cleavon little died young I only know of one other movie he was in once bitten, but he was a Broadway singer before being cast as bart
Let's try to use some punctuation and see if your sentence makes more sense: Cleavon Little died young. I only know of one other movie he was in - "Once bitten", but he was a Broadway singer before being cast as Bart.
“They said you was hung” … “And they was right”
“Fourth wall? Nah! Let’s just get rid of that.” -Mel Brooks
You guys need to stop talking throughout the dialogue and hear what is being said otherwise you miss the entire meaning of this whole thing
I hope you all survive and hope you live and learn
A drunk only had to spend the night in jail jim was free to go as soon as he woke up
Mongo only pawn in game of life! That's deep mongo.
React to Ferngully The Last Rainforest movie next ❤❤❤
If you want to see another cowboy western themed movie, go and react to the movie Rango (2011) 😏
So many black reviewers don't get that the Sheriff stands head and shoulders above any in the movie, all the N word stuff is to degrade the character saying it.
You simply lack context and there is a lot to unpack in this movie. The jump from the old west to present day (1974) was meant to illustrate how these racist idea’s were still present today and white America hadn’t advanced very far at all. This movie was attempting taking the power out of racist words by having people laugh at them and those that used them. The movie Taxi Driver came out two years after this movie and clearly shows how comfortable white America was with using racist language in the presence of people of colour. Oh yeah, the thing with the man and his horse being hung, it’s biblical humor again, that’s the Old Testament punishment for banging an animal, both the perpetrator and the animal must be put to death, some good book hey?
You guys should watch The Harder They Fall if you haven't already.
lol great movie
Also your volume of the movie is too low to hear
thanks guys, i hope you also watch men in tights, i think it's even better
❤😂 Greetings from belgium
Mel Brooks always spit straight into the ugly face of prejudice, religious or cold or all, and held up a mirror to the ludicrously of humans.
Racism Counter: Love it! Lol
The object was to make fun of racism and show that it is crap
Based on your reaction, I would probably stay away from Mel Brooks as his movies act as if the 4th wall is not there. Occasionally bringing the crew into the shots.
you guys are so fuking serious, its comedy for gods sake. Was going to subscribe but you three just don't get it.
React to Robots (2005) movie 🔥🔥🔥
PLEASE REACT TO "PETER PAN (2003)"!!! 😍💖🔥
React to Happy Feet movie 💎💎💎
Remember this is old PG-13 you could get away with just about anything with old PG-13 that's before the R rating came out
False. PG-13 was not instituted until 1984. Indiana Jones & The Temple of Doom caused a ruckus w/ several disturbing scenes & Red Dawn was the first movie to receive a PG-13 rating in 1984. The first R-rated movie came out in 1969 (Women In Love).
@davidcardoso3525 Dame could have just said that I was talking about PG, not PG-13 like bro
Awesome reaction of my favorite movie!!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊
React to Corpse Bride movie 😊😊😊

YALL FROM NIGERIA!?!? YALL NEED TO REACT TO HBOs OZ FROM 1997 ADABIZI IS A SAVAGE!!
no likes,no subscribe-moving on
Try to watch and react to the movie and not talk over it the whole time, you are missing really funny parts.
You Are Too Loud .... And the Film Can't be Heard!
It's dumb on purpose, showing how stupid racism and bigotry are on all sides.
Nothing politically correct here, guys.
Greetings/ So much of this movie is strictly American bullshit-
Many of the gags are making reference to old western movies stereotypes 🎥
So what? That is exactly the meaning of the movie - but maybe that's too hard to understand?
@@Vinterfrid So what?
So you think to argue about what?
They gave it low ratings & they should.
Not easy to follow - Brutal satire-
Trust me I’ve been explaining this movie 🍿 since day one -
I’m telling these guys why they didn’t get most of the gags- American culture- historical- timeline distortion - 4th wall breaks-
First these guys are young fellows & this film is filled with tropes old western movies.🎥 & just so much from US history & all the fourth wall breaks, literally crashing through the wall into Dance set, was a gag of “breaking the 4th wall”
Words puns /slang that most won’t catch if Americanized English is not your first language.
Warner Brothers studio is LoonyToons-
Candy Gram scene.
They don’t know or have references to Randolph Scott or Hedy Lamarr.
I'm Tired" is a homage to and parody of Marlene Dietrich's performance of Cole Porter's song "I'm the Laziest Gal in Town" in Alfred Hitchcock's 1950 film Stage Fright,
During production, retired longtime film star Hedy Lamarr sued Warner Bros. for $100,000, charging that the film's running parody of her name infringed on her right to privacy. Brooks said that he was flattered and chose to not fight it in court; the studio settled out of court for a small sum and an apology for "almost using her name". Brooks said that Lamarr "never got the joke".[24][2] This lawsuit would be referenced by an in-film joke where Brooks' character, the Governor, tells Lamarr that "This is 1874; you'll be able to sue HER."
i cannot understand anything they are saying.
