Thanks for watching Авто/Мото
Looks to me, like that car was never driven in the rain. Good score, guys. Nice to see the young fella watching his Dad
working on it. Teaching 'em right from the start, is always good.
Congratulations on the score of a loverly old car Shannon. Lux loves it Doris wants to ride in it. And dad is over the moon as well. What’s not to like.
What a beautiful ole girl. Score!! Proof that 4 doors can be cool. Think of how many of these still exist??? Probably not many
Congratulations Shannon, enjoy many miles with you new find....:-)
She's so beautiful...The car too.
That front end kit corrects geometry issues the 49s had . Common upgrade the 50 and 51 had many upgrades from the 49 which was somewhat rushed into production.
I think the pleated seat covers are a great idea. The clear would be cool too.
Consider up grading it to 12 volt, did my 52 Ford years ago and that 6volt starter sure spun that flathead over for fast starts lol
I agree with Shannon about lowering it and the white walls, duals, etc.
Definitely a car to be preserved.
It would be cool to see you make clear seat covers for it. I like that idea best.
This is a sweet car! Great find!
I have much love for cars like this. People are conditioned to think that everyone drove '57 Chevys & 2-seater Thunderbirds years ago. Pedestrian cars like this ruled the road, esp. 4-doors. Great find! Signed, Driver of a 1959 Rambler American Super.
I can’t believe that car existed and you were lucky enough to find it. Its so perfect. It just goes to show you that they are still around. So glad to see Shannon excited about her car.
Like the new car! Very good find.
What a nicely preserved survivor. 💯🆒👍
Great video I love your guys way of including lux and Doris in the video. One happy family. Love the car / cars too.
Thanks so much!
Very nice car for a very nice family . Great score ! I feel you need the clear seat covers to show off that original upholstery .
Hi Shannon Lee and Lux Well what a nice buy you have made!! We also have a1950 Meteor which we bought in 2014. It came to us with 35,000 original miles on it. Floors like yours are the good old Canadian Mint. No rust and no repair. Seats are original but someone left a rusty piece of steel sitting on the front seat where it has left us a rust stain. Brakes were all new lines linings hoses new. Lights needed ground work like yours. Small chip in the passengers rear vent window a White Rose sticker covers it nicely. I added heavy old Appleton Spot lights and flat Mercury skirts. Headers were in, and dual exhaust with chrome tips. I added an afghan throw to the front seat to cover the stain. Oh and ours is gloss black original too..Also bought the chrome for around the clock but not installed as yet. Floor mats are in great shape. Georgina wants to lace paint the roof. But so far I am holding off. So now you guys and Jim /Venessa will look real great on the road together.. Oh I rebuilt the steering box but It still steers hard. We drive it most summers but not daily as we have 6 other cars and 2 boats to share the time between. We only wish we had winters like yours. Steven Branch and Georgina Brown steeplechaseabby@outlook.ca Send us your email and I will share photos with you. All the best S and G Bailieboro, Ontario. Canada.
Wow, your meteor sounds identical to this one! Amazing!
@@LGKustoms Better yet we have a 1960 Thunderbird in our stable too ! lol Steven
@@LGKustoms Oh did I say we have a 1930 Ford Roadster flathead power in the stable too. :)
Very nice Meteor Shannon! Love it. Can't believe how clean it is. Enjoy!
For an original 49 , that is a sweet ride !! Keep Cruzin' !! 👍
Just wow.
Love it. Definitely need to keep it as original as possible.
The steering system looks like a 49-51 Ford Steering Linkage Upgrade that used be sold by Shoebox Central. It is no longer available from them, now.
Fat Man Fab also has a similar kit
Excellent
What a cool car you can tell it was loved in the past and I know it will be in the future my choice would be custom interior best thing that car is keep driving it congratulations Mike
Great that there are still nice original cars out there. Enjoy.
I'm very impressed with the find, and the low mileage too. The 49 was a milestone for Ford as it was a modern design and it sold well. Due to the amount of speed bumps and sunken manhole covers a stock height in Ontario is much safer but who knows about Victoria as I have not driven there. Duel exhaust would help lower fuel consumption and a better sound all around. The rest is up to you. Good luck.
Cool car, sweet baby, good job.
Glad you got a such a really good old car. It is amazingly preserved and is now owned by folks that will take really good care of it while putting it to good use 👍
What a car what a find Pleated seats lowered pipes gauges cut the paint Enjoy
Congratulations!
Great score. Congrats on the find. That’s so solid,Lux is going to learn to drive in that.😊
Maybe!
Pleated seat covers! Awesome car. Its in amazing shape
..hi Lee...fun episode...congrats to Shannon on the new ride....she's a beauty.....it struck me that Lux sure went from infant to toddler really quickly.....pretty soon he'll be walking around and then the real fun begins.....
He’s gonna need a leash! 😆
Congratulations to Shannon and Lux....the car is in amazing shape 👏.
Good match! Perfect car for the perfect family! I bet Lux can't wait to drive it!
Dang that's sweet👌 would be cool with dual straight pipes or side pipes, the new bolt on 2 link from Shoebox Central and a 12 volt conversion. Also the stering upgrade looks to be from Shoebox Central as well...
Congratulations👍
Awesome car ..
Very nice. Like new.
Thats a beautiful car looks like it been inside all its life it almost like new, Shannon done good on finding that nice car,
Nice find! cant wait to see more.
More to come!
Absolutely DO NOT LOWER THE CAR! It’s great just like it was built.
It is great the way it is. But lower, it’ll be even better! It’ll be the way the original designers wanted it to be.
Hello from Brasil.
Hugs.
What a neat car! I love it. Great find. Definitely needs clear seat protectors!
Good luck with the car and your beautiful baby. Love the car.
Great purchase
Great buy, headers, dual exhaust, 2 carbs and an overdrive trans would be fun. enjoy it's the time of your lifes
Love this car , can't wait to see Shannon's upgrades!!!
One sweet ride!
Way too go Lee ! The wife loves the car and now she wants one ! lol . She says no to plastic covers because they’ll off gas when hot from the sun and that’s not good for anyone especially Lux . The car is killer , such styling back then and that grille! Wow , super cool 👍🏻
All interior products off gas, in fact that’s literally what “new car smell” is haha. I don’t think any of them are good for you.
Glad you guys dig the car!
@@LGKustoms true enough
Good find ! Can't believe how clean it is
Me neither
What a sweet buy! Congratulations!
Awesome !!!!! My wife has a 54 Merc Monterey 4 door. Carts the 2 kids around in it.
So great!
Wow. What an amazing Merc. A time piece no doubt. No other car drives like an original. Great video. For the interior. Pleats.
Thanks! It’s just a Meteor though, not a Mercury. Mercury had nothing to do with Meteor until 1961.
@@LGKustoms Yes. I got ahead of myself. 👍
Always loved the 49 best, don’t ever remember seeing a Meteor before. I LIKE IT.
Those cars are so damn cool. A ford shoebox but with a crown mercury grill surround and grill. Perfect to build a custom
Wow that’s a great car👍
That must be the lottery win of the year! Beautiful car you found there and hope it stays with you for decades to come.
I forgot to add that the lights will brighten up when the engine rpm’s are up.
WOW! That's a great find! I like the plastic seat cover idea. Very retro!
Check out Diamondback tires, also please keep the Flathead, and definitely some skirts.
Great price on the Comet👍
Happy wife. A happy life. Thanks
Great buy!
Great family video!!!! Not sure how you found it but y'all did great with the purchase! Good luck an d hope it lasts a very long time.
I remember sitting on those plastic seat covers when I was a kid. In our hot southern Ontario summers they were awful. You had to put a towel or blanket on them or burn your back side. I vote for the pleated covers. Lux will thank you.
Sounds like those plastic seat covers burned ever lasting memories of your childhood!
Good job👍👏!
Wow! What a great find! Good to see everyone having a great time. Looks like you'll have to make some new T-shirts.
Love the car. Congrats Shannon!
What a great find you lucky family. Don't lower it .Get a proper alignment throw some nice seat covers and carpet and drive the snot out of it. I wish it was mine.
I have to lower it. Every vehicle I own is lowered, including my F350 dually haha
That is an awesome car , very nice condition
Great episode. I would go with plastic covers but it’s your car. Car is cool too.
Underside is ready for some fluid film!
I thought of hitting it with some Por15. I’ve had really good luck with it
Hello!! congratulations, excellent purchase, very nice car!!!
Thanks
Nice car lowered would be nice and maybe a little bit of pinstripes
That's a good idea of the buyer and seller going down together and taking care of the paperwork and exchanging the money. That way if there are any issues both parties are there to correct things. It used to be done that way but over a period of time it has become a hassle for people to take the time to do this as most people do not want to be bothered with all of this legal mumbo jumbo, but I have had issues with people and their lackadaisical ways and pretty much refuse to cut corners when engaging in vehicle transactions. Actually, I have solved the problem by just not buying or selling a vehicle (I have enough as it is). This really seems to be a good purchase and I hope you all enjoy this car.
Dude!!! Beautiful!!! Car!!! And your better half!!! Wow!!! Most mom's what a mini van!!! She is so!!! Cool!!! Nice to see Doris again!!!✌️
She’s the best!
Go with the clear seat covers ,neat car enjoy.
This METEOR is a star
wing windows in the back, kool
Nice original car. Love it!
Pleated seat covers would be nice. Lowered for the win. Nice find! You both look good in the car. Enjoy!
from a comet to a meteor sounds kind of other worldly
Check the ground wires on the headlights and brake lights, they may be a little loose or corroded just a bit.
Vintage look seat covers. That is a neat FORD/MERCURY!
Wow, Shannon got herself a really nice shoe box . Good find guys.
Great looking car!
It’s always amazing to see original iron 😎 nice find 👍
Nice solid original car!. Great purchase!
Drove past you guys today! Can't wait to check her out!
Hi Kirsten!
Lowered, dual exhaust and a 2 carb intake...seat cover to protect the original interior, then leave the rest alone and enjoy it.
congratulations with the new old car !! 🤩
I love that your son is with you in the workshop and learning the smell of old cars and petrol from a young age 😊💪💪

Kind regards from Denmark🇩🇰
Thank you
I had my sons in a playpen as I worked on my old 60 Studebaker. Had a few more projects over the years. They are all grown and married now, but every time I fire up an old engine, first thing they say is "man, I love that exhaust smell!" :)
Hi Lee , Shannon and Lux , super happy for the new purchase . Sure is a winner . A few months back I bought my Big brother's '32 Fordor sedan . It's a turn key mid '70's style hotrod with 351w ,trans and rearend out of a 1970 Mustang. Wont be changing anything . All the best in the New Year to you folks !
No way! That’s awesome! How exciting!
Beautiful car, your very lucky to get such a great car. I would love to get that 61 but am in Australia.
Could always put it in a sea container!
Great purchase !! Not 100% sure but that front suspension upgrade might be a Jameco kit. Skirts and a 3” drop would be awesome, maybe a visor.
Fat Man Fabrications also has a similar kit. I’m in to skirts and lowering. No visor though… visors are for Peterbilts haha
This car couldn’t have landed in the hands of someone more deserving of it. A little lowering maybe some skirts and the wide white bias ply tires.
Do your best not to be influenced by Bad Chad and his build 😂. Great family sedan 👍😎
I agree with all of this
Love it! I have a chopped 50 shoebox.. ill have to make a vid on my channel one day
What a great car! It's going to look amazing dropped with skirts.
I think so too!
i think the pleated seat covers would be sweet!!! great video!!!😊
That car was a score for sure! I'm glad it found a good home and I'm excited to see what you guys do with it. I do agree with you that it's too nice to really cut up and modify the body. Better a mild custom IMHO. Rock on!
Shannon reminds me daily that I can’t chop it
Fantastic find Lee. I have 3 all original cars and like I was told, they're only original once. 1959 Studebaker Lark 2 door hardtop, 1963 Mercury Monterey 2 door S55 Hardtop, it still has the original dual exhaust, and our 46 Ford Super Deluxe 2 door sedan. Other than replacing maintenance items, they're stock. I prefer the blanket cover idea. That way at shows, you can easily remove them then put them back on. Happy New Year !!
Happy new year
Definitely do the wide whites. I would do seat belts up front too. ESPECIALLY if you do the clear plastic seat covers! Sliding across that front seat in a hard corner is NOT part of the fun of an old car. If you could find the "panel-puft" clear plastic to make them out of would be totally classic. Yes, an exhaust with a bit of sound to it. 2 inch, duals with glass packs. Lake pipes tied into it with removable caps would be sweet. 3 inch drop, fender skirts are a must have. Does it have 15 or 16 inch wheels? I think 15 inch '58 Dodge Lancer, 4 bar spinners would be my choice.{also one of my favorite wheel covers of all time.}
Remember its your car do what you will
Oh wow, sad to see the Comet go. But, look forward to what you will do to the Meteor. I do like the Meteor grille better than the Ford.
Marty G
The grill is my favorite part I think
Great score , cool ride. Your DMV sounds like ours here in N.C.
They’re terrible no matter where you live
@@LGKustoms Seem to be in some states. It takes an act of Congress to get a title here if you buy a car without one. Some states don't require a title just a bill of sale after it gets a certain age. It discourages you from buying one of those.
