Thank you for the great teardown video - I was questioning the machine parts along with you all throughout the video! Got my machine all cleaned up and ready! 😊

Thanks for your in-depth tear-down of this Sodastream model. There's one or two things to be aware of. I could hear bits rattling around loose in mine, and the gas was coming out around the top of the plastic bottle. On pulling it apart I found 4 loose bits - a white plastic nut, a spring, and a white plastic plunger/jet, and also a longer plastic plunger with o-ring. I ascertained from another RUclips clip that the first 3 components formed part of the valve assembly with the blue plastic cap, but couldn't figure out where the other plunger went. Eventually worked out where it came from (the opposite end of the blue-cap valve) and realised this could have only dropped out during disassembly. Whilst not shown explicitly in this clip, it did help me identify where this part needed to go, so many thanks. If anyone has similar problems, use teflon tape when replacing the white spring-retaining nut and screw in very tight (pointy tweezers and pliers do the trick). Note that this repair does NOT require the degree of disassembly illustrated by this clip - don't go past the first 11 mins or so. If Sodastream published full exploded views of their various models, it would be helpful.....until then, won't be buying another one!

Andy! I am not the least bit handy, but I do own a screwdriver. This video (with much pausing/rewinding/pausing/rewinding again) helped me take apart a used SS, find the problem, and PUT IT BACK TOGETHER! very helpful and much appreciated.

Thanks Andy, my problem has now been rectified, your video gave me enough guidance to pull my SS Play apart. It was one of the relief valves, it had unthreaded itself which resulted in water being injected while gassing. Problem was how to get into this spot to fix it. This SS a difficult beast to work on, so thanks again.

Thank you! I made an assumption that the component that presses on the canister wasn’t depressing properly. Your guide to disassemble the unit helped me get to that part and fix it... saved me having to buy a new one.

This really helped me too. It’s so much easier to pull or bend a bit of plastic when you know that’s the right way to remove and you’re not just breaking it! Water was just shooting out through the head of the machine when I tried to carbonate it. And it’s out of warranty so I figured might as well see if I can fix it before spending money on a new one.

If your Sodastream starts leaking gas as soon as you put in a new canister, look for the missing gasket. Had to take my Sodastream apart to find it laying inside the cover.

Any idea where to get a replacement gasket for where the bottle goes into the machine?

That’s a pretty good video to disassemble and reassemble a sodastream play. I have one too and it has been in storage for a year. Now I can’t screw the gas bottle in anymore. After a few turns in it doesn’t go further and I can’t action it. I’ve tried to tear it down and back, but couldn’t solve the problem. Any idea?

Thanks for this - taking it apart and reassembling worked - there was a tiny curled sliver of metal in fitting at end of hose - where the little cam opens the valve , don't know if this was the problem , it works again. Also put on teflon tape and that allowed me to have that fitting one thread further out for better contact with that cam. I appreciate your slow thorough method - although you left out butting the last two covers on - went back to beginning to see that,

So, you fixed it by just disassemble and reassemble?

The entire line of Sodastream are just POS plastic gadgets that are deliberately designed to break just out of warranty.
