This rig WAS top on my families list for our next rig to purchase (and most likely from Haylett) but now it wouldn't even be on any list as that 2nd door is gone for bedroom access. Been RVing a lifetime and over 20 years with my own family now and that bedroom access for packing, roadside stops, and slide failure access is an absolute must for us. For this price point I personally think this was the worst decision Jayco could have ever made with this unit. Now we crossed Jayco off this list completely for now unless they go back to the 2 door access.
I love everything they done but second door is a must. It wouldn’t stop me from getting one if I had a bigger truck. Love the floor plan and I’ll go with farmhouse. Thanks for sharing Josh👍👍
I agree about you, Josh, can't understand why people wouldn't want a 2nd door. Safer and convenient. I like to shake my bedding out, easier than carrying it through the camper. And of course, for travel mode.

@@Murphy326 I don't get the security concern. The door deadbolts. In addition i like the drop frame, looks like they lost about 8-10” of storage height. I do love the trailer so far and it has been very good to us.

Love the “included ladder”, the theater seating, the “included TV”, the true queen bed and the porcelain toilet, but I wish the entire interior decor was the same color as the entertainment center, and isn’t the stove the only place you really need a full backsplash😬😬😬
I loved this trailer and wanted one for a long time. I finally was going to get one and one with the configuration I wanted. The store I had looking for it found one being built for another location and had it redirected for me. After paying the deposit I realized it would be a 2022. Their website had not updated yet so I figured not much would change. I saw a 2022 video posted and thought it was the wrong trailer because of the missing door. Turns out that wasn't the only change. I was so upset they change so many things that I was not made aware of. I still like my trailer but I would choose a 2021 over this one. This one is missing the bedroom door which has been a real pain. The outside TV storage that we loved is gone. The drop frame is gone and the front storage is less. Mine does not weigh less because of it and it is certainly not easier to hook up a weight distribution hitch. The hitch ball is now at the bottom of the frame which made my weigh safe distribution hitch almost not work. There is no small closet in the entry way anymore which would be great for shoes and jackets. Behind the TV is not convenient for that stuff. There is no power outlet on the kitchen wall anymore. The bathroom cabinets are blue with black trim which looks terrible in my opinion. And my bunks have no power outlets or USB's. These in this video looks like they have USB's. How is it possible that mine does not. I actually liked the built grill outside also. Now I have to store the bracket and grill in my smaller storage. Overall, I wish I had waited or was made aware of the changes. Camping World could not have been more difficult, uneducated or less friendly to work with. They then couldn't have cared less about the changes we and they didn't know about. Very disappointed with the changes and buying experience. If anyone has a 2021 and likes tge 2022 more, let's talk.
I am in exactly the same boat. I saw Josh's video, and then looked at a 2021 and I was ready to buy. But then they told me that you could only order the 2022 models now, and when I actually saw a 2022 in person I was so disappointed for many of the same reasons you listed. I agree I would rather have that extra outdoor storage than a walk in pantry. I know they have those lips on there to keep things from falling, but stuff is still going to slide around like crazy on those shelves.
Deciding between these decors would be really tough. They both look great. I love that Jayco gives contrasting colors throughout the unit. The lighter brown decor is a huge improvement over the older colors.
I like the craftsman, no surprise it’s my 2nd favorite architectural style for homes. Hahaha just listening to Carpenters, not that song though if I can help it. Yes, I’m old enough to remember when that song was on every 5 minutes! Love the pantry, motion mode is great when loading up and have your hands full. As always though I like the craftsman color, except I’d prefer the dinette in the lighter gray, or is that an illusion in the farmhouse?
Regarding songs being overplayed.. I get it. "Superman" by 3 Doors Down was like that. Massively overplayed and to this day I have to skip it. Not even a bad song just.. man.. too much Farmhouse decor's seating "Skins" are a grey-ish yeah
Hey Uncle Josh I really like this Jayco Eagle 284BHOK it's a awesome travel that's made like a fifth wheel. I think it should have a second door in it so you would have total access to the whole trailer. That's my opinion, but that is my take an thought on it. Like I have said before keep up the great work on making the videos an all the information that you give us Uncle Josh!!!!!!! Your number one fan Leonard Nelson from NC. Thank you so much for your awesomeness Uncle Josh
The White Hawk 29Bh is awesome Uncle Josh it hits the nail right square on the head!!!! You are the man Uncle Josh keep up the awesomeness that you do!!!! I told several friends the joke you told about knocking on the refrigerator door before you open it because the salad is dressing
Light mocha color couch and dinette ….I like! Or was it the lighting??? That long countertop in the bath is awesome! Has a ladder which is a plus. It needs a rear bumper and 2” hitch receiver for a bike rack.
Think I'm love, would need a 2500 series truck though, I don't think my old 00 1500 Ram would do,This has to be one of the best set ups I've seen ( for us) Thank you!
Nice trailer. Better haircut! 😂 Seriously though I really like it just wish it had better travel access. We just bought a no slide because we have kids and worried about it.
Question. I picked this model up. Love it. On the slide out, I only see one 110v outlet under the table. Is that it? Like no usb at the theater seating where mom & dad sit in the evening? Could be I’m overlooking that & you know where it’s hidden…
Normally, I barely pay attention to model year changes, but the 284BHOK is at the top of the list as we are contemplating a larger trailer. I am incredibly disappointed that Jayco cheapened up the 284 by removing two of the top features that made it so great. 1) the exterior door into the master bedroom 2) the front drop frame that gave it the 'fifth wheel-like storage". I mean seriously..... what are they doing to this for 2023??? Delete the rear cargo door?? And it's not like they lowered the price to compensate. Did I mention how disappointed I am with Jayco ?
I need to speak with the brand manager on these to better understand some of the decision making. I will fully admit while there are some obvious updates here those two things did really feel like a step backwards... those were always defining qualities on an HT vs a white hawk
@@JoshtheRVNerd Btw: If you do speak ever to a brand manager I hope you'll do a video update and share with us what they say. Definitely enjoy your reviews.
looks like the 2024 model changes have gotten even worse. Definitely heading in the wrong direction with this lineup. I'm hoping that @joshthervnerd can do an update soon and maybe convince me otherwise
Appreciate your videos! Thinking about this model (2024). What are the counters made of? Is it simply laminated particle board or something more premium?
"Roll up your toilet paper for better storage", yep I'll make sure to do that from now on cause Uncle Josh told me to... 😁 Just kidding of course I know you meant roll up your towels for better storage on the shelves. I've watched enough of your videos that I'm now fluent in Josh'ease which is similar to English but better...
Growing up Farming I always thought. If I could just combine the attributes of our quality John Deere equipment with some of the good ideas of our neighbors IH red equipment, I'd have a perfect machine. My green planter needed the single large seed tank that the Red machine had. Todays green planters have it now. Our green combine needed the axial flow thresher of the red machine. The green combines have there version of it now. And now that I'm looking at travel trailers I'm running into a similar problem. With a family of 5. I really want/ need a bunk house. Yet while looking at different manufactures we find an awesome new concept to the bunk house in the Keystone Cougar 30BHS...The bunks are in the back, and the wife and I have bed room in front, with a king bed. Also the pass through bathroom concept works perfectly to give her the connected facilities she needs to get ready for her day with 3 boys in the house. Although after looking them over up close. It's very apparent the JAYCO eagle is a higher quality built unit. I just wish I could combine that cougar 30BHS floor plan on the Eagle HT and I'd buy one this second.....
Looks like they lost a cabinet over the bed. My 2020 has 3 doors & the hanging closets are below them. On the 2022 the hanging closets are up at the ceiling. Does this change make the hanging closet longer?
Wow Josh I was blown away, I used to think the farmhouse was the end all...but this interior is gorgeous! So refreshing to see a jayco...not so...white lol. However I hate the backsplash in the American craftsman but everything else I love. That being said the dark brown 2 tone only works with the white interior it doesn't work with the American craftsman.that being said I think I'd stay with you white for now untill jayco figures out a better contrast color on the brown.
This Craftsman decor is very relaxing. Wood tones are rich looking here. Too many of the old wood interiors looked cheap. I like it! But the slide trim looks to be another color. Too many.
Can you do a short video on the 2023 updates? I just left the Jayco display at the Tampa rv show and forgot to ask the rep about the details of the increased grey tank capacity and the front 5th wheel style jacks.
Question for you. I think it was you that showcased a bunkhouse model that I am looking for but I cannot find it anywhere. The bunks were located in the back of the trailer and they would both raise up to the ceiling when not in use and the back of the trailer was accessible to load from the back where the bunks were located. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Josh.
We just purchased this trailer 2 weeks ago with the farmhouse decor! I absolutely love it! Question…..what are the black brackets for in the front storage? There are 4 of them towards the ceiling of the cargo storage area.
I have a question for either a tech or someone who has the "bunk storage" area or at least the storage door, that runs into the bunkhouse area.... How well sealed are those doors leading into the storage area? Does it get colder/warmer in the bunk area because of the door? Does it get "drafty" or leak air over time? Thanks very much for everyone's feedback. Rich
That door is certainly thinner than the rest of the RV. There will be more of a temp swing there. Sort of like if you were sitting by the window in a restaurant on a cold day. You'll feel "okay" inside, but you'll know it's colder out there if that makes sense.
So glad to finally see the video for this floorplan. I also went and looked at one of these in person and I really have to say I was so disappointed with these 4 changes from the 2021 model: 1.) The elimination of the drop frame. That front pass through compartment on the 2021 model was 29 inches tall (and flat) all the way through. It was so nice. The hieght on the new 2022 model without the drop frame is only 20 inches tall. That's a loss of 9 inches! That's a huge difference. 2.) The elimination of the bedroom entry door. I do not buy the "people complained" argument. Why does every other Jayco trailer where the slideout blocks access to the main bedroom *still* have a 2nd door? And if it really was customer complaints, then why not just make it an option that people could choose to order without the door? 3.) They eliminated the storage above the sofa to make room for bigger windows. But why do I want bigger windows on the side of my trailer facing away from my campsite? I actually suspect this may be why they eliminated the 2nd entry door. Since these trailers are 0 degree rated, moving to bigger windows, which have very little R value, probably means they had to make up for that loss somewhere else. Since doors are the next biggest place for heat to be lost they probably had to eliminate the door to maintain their 0 degree rating. 4.) I haven't seen the 2021 model with leveling jacks, so I'm not 100% sure this was a "change", but I suspect the change in frame is what caused this: On the 2022 model with the auto leveling jacks: The front jacks stick down *really* far from the bottom of the unit. They extend 17 inches down from the bottom of the RV. That's just begging to get ripped off going over any kind of hump, or railroad tracks, or any kind of steep driveway entrance. My other theory on the 2nd bedroom door is that the change in frame moved things around in a way that the door (or the stairs underneath the door) would no longer fit. There's no way they removed it because people complained. Because by that logic they would have removed the master bedroom entry doors from the other half dozen or so floorplans that have one. I was literally in the process of reaching out to dealers and getting quotes to order one of these, but after looking at the 2022 model I decided to hold off. I *SO* wish I would have ordered a 2021 before these changes were made.
Appreciate all this. Seems to be in line with much of what others have stated Regarding the jacks: That's always been an option. Manual jacks are and have always been standard on these. Power jacks do remain an available option
@@JoshtheRVNerd Hey Josh, appreciate the response. I think you may have misunderstood my comment about the jacks though. What I was saying is that, on the 2022 model I looked at, the power leveling jacks, which is an option I really wanted, hung down dangerously low to the ground even when they were fully retracted. I've owned five (5) different RVs over the years. Four of those were travel trailers (And one of those was an Eagle) but my current rig is a Jayco Seneca motorhome. One major reason for moving from a TT to a motorhome is because of how much of a pain it is to level a TT. Overall I prefer a TT to a motorhome because it's a lot less to maintain, but I've had to set up my TT in the rain enough times to realize how valuable it is to be able to level the coach without having to play "guess how many blocks I need to put under the tires" game. So when I saw that the Eagle's now had the option for power leveling jacks which could actually *level* the unit side to side, rather than just stabilize it (And that I could do this from my phone, while seated inside the comfort of my truck, or inside the coach), that's what made me really start looking at going back to a TT. But the fact that the front jacks protrude down 17 inches is just insane. Did the front jacks on the 2021 models stick down that far as well or did you guys just stick to the models with the stabilizer jacks vs the "auto leveling" jacks? My thinking is that the change to the "non-drop" frame may have negatively impacted where/how they mounted the jacks, but I never actually got to see a 2021 with the power auto level jacks so I'm not 100% sure.
🙋UK! spoiled by US style trailers from before we moved, and so planning to ship one out here...although they don't have black tank dump stations here......not sure what to do there - but we'll figure it out!
I like the craftsmen over the farmhouse, but still dislike the transition of cabinets to the entertainment center. I don't like the mismatched cabinets look in the smaller room of an RV. Personal preference would be the regular sofa and queen bed for more walk-around room. Also like the rain blocker fan. Great options. With no access to bedroom without the door would be a no go for us, need the turtle friendly access, but would almost prefer a smaller kitchen counter to gain bedroom access than a 2nd door.
I hate how they took out the bedroom outside door.!😡 I have a 28bhs and love having that second door. One other little nit pick is how the dinner isn't free standing.
Hands down I would go with the Farmhouse decor and theater seating. I would also prefer the 280RSOK since I don't need the extra sleeping capacity. I also don't know why the 2nd door was eliminated. It's a blank wall anyway.
Gosh if you get a chance and you have a Jayco HT with three slides and residential refrig would you care to show it thank you buddy Rick and Pam from southern Ohio
Jayco has a fixation on not making the secondary sleep area spacious enough for others to stand up and change clothes in privacy just like the 295 BHS/BH series
My thoughts: I swear you just did a Rocky Horror reference a few days ago, but there's not anything wrong with that! Also I might be mistaken because I sometimes bounce around and watch an old video here and there, so who knows! I prefer the darker craftsman decor. Either way, it's quite the looker. Way out of my price and size range however! I like those plastic totes inside the cabinets under the dinette. That is a great idea, and if I end up with a trailer with those style cabinets, I'll try to source an appropriately sized plastic tote to provide that same functionality. Silfie! I'm glad I'm not alone in doing this. You know what my big one is? Suretainly. My brain mangles sure and certainly together. I say it all the time and people look at me like I have 3 heads. Also not alone with the ringing ears I see. Too many years of basement punk shows for me! I definitely appreciate that you go up on those roofs to show us around. I think you're right, I haven't seen anyone else do that.

I figured a few people would think this way about it. Appreciate you sharing. Hopefully you’re able to find what you seek
That outdoor tv storage is soo much more. I can fit several full size fishing poles, camp chairs, ice maker, etc. Thats a bummer they lost that.
@@JeremyAkersInAustin Yeah as with cars or anything else they only build current model years
I’m glad I got the 2021 now after watching this.
Love the farmhouse decor. Idk Josh I really like the bedroom door.
Yeah.. it’s tough.
I am actually starting to lean to the craftsman personally but it’s still mostly just the tip of a coin
@@JoshtheRVNerd Yep I understand. I could live with either one, but my wife is a different story! 😂
You are the most informative
I try! Ty 😊
My opinion is that the bigger the rig, the better that darker colors look.
I agree really
Agree with you. Should not have removed the second door.
Deciding between these decors would be really tough. They both look great. I love that Jayco gives contrasting colors throughout the unit. The lighter brown decor is a huge improvement over the older colors.
Oh agree. The new craftsman is light years ahead of the old “Tradition” look
Nice one. 7' ceilings, wow.
Yep! And “full” eagle is 7’3”
I love the rectangular beds. I dislike the pantry behind the tv unit. I prefer the front coat closet on the right when you first walk in the door.
Appreciate the feedback! m.ruclips.net/video/UB8ovDZSSU8/видео.html has that pantry you like
Hey Josh! I like both color schemes..nice rigs..and I think I caught a "rocky horror" reference.
....PATION
@@JoshtheRVNerd well said my man!
Ok I'm sold! I would trade my grand design 2910 for some of the features on this! Like having full access to the bunkroom and that pantry! Wowzzers!
What do you have currently?
@@JoshtheRVNerd We have a Grand Design Imagine 2910BH 2021. So you going to move to Idaho? We love it!
Farmhouse all the way, chomping at the bit for the release of the 294.
We have them coming! You’ll get video :)
@@JoshtheRVNerd yay!!!
Not even a bad song just.. man.. too much
Farmhouse decor's seating "Skins" are a grey-ish yeah
Hey Uncle Josh I really like this Jayco Eagle 284BHOK it's a awesome travel that's made like a fifth wheel. I think it should have a second door in it so you would have total access to the whole trailer. That's my opinion, but that is my take an thought on it. Like I have said before keep up the great work on making the videos an all the information that you give us Uncle Josh!!!!!!! Your number one fan Leonard Nelson from NC. Thank you so much for your awesomeness Uncle Josh
Yeah it’s surprising they used to have a second door and peeled it out..
Maybe try this one m.ruclips.net/video/_Z_tDP5pfMM/видео.html
The White Hawk 29Bh is awesome Uncle Josh it hits the nail right square on the head!!!! You are the man Uncle Josh keep up the awesomeness that you do!!!! I told several friends the joke you told about knocking on the refrigerator door before you open it because the salad is dressing
Farmhouse! Just got this exact tt in farmhouse
Light mocha color couch and dinette ….I like! Or was it the lighting??? That long countertop in the bath is awesome! Has a ladder which is a plus. It needs a rear bumper and 2” hitch receiver for a bike rack.
like them both
Craftsman for sure
TY
Think I'm love, would need a 2500 series truck though, I don't think my old 00 1500 Ram would do,This has to be one of the best set ups I've seen ( for us) Thank you!
Yeah she’s a big girl. 3/4 really recommended
I'm in Abu Dhabi now. Don't like losing the bedroom door.
Wow! Thx for watching. Crazy the reach we have from this little down
Nice trailer. Better haircut! 😂 Seriously though I really like it just wish it had better travel access. We just bought a no slide because we have kids and worried about it.
Farmhouse all the way!!!
Own a 2020 version of this with the farmhouse, so I’m biased, but I gotta pick the farmhouse decor!
Hey you like what you like!
Do you have outlets accessible from the kitchen counter?
Question.
I picked this model up. Love it.
On the slide out, I only see one 110v outlet under the table. Is that it? Like no usb at the theater seating where mom & dad sit in the evening? Could be I’m overlooking that & you know where it’s hidden…
It would be obvious if it were there
Excellent review!
Thank you kindly!
They should make this camper the outdoor kitchen little taller the take out the bunks keep that cargo door and add an washer dryer
it pretty cool
Craftsman and a second door for me.
I would agree with both of those
Normally, I barely pay attention to model year changes, but the 284BHOK is at the top of the list as we are contemplating a larger trailer.
@@JoshtheRVNerd I agree 100%
@@JoshtheRVNerd Btw: If you do speak ever to a brand manager I hope you'll do a video update and share with us what they say. Definitely enjoy your reviews.
looks like the 2024 model changes have gotten even worse. Definitely heading in the wrong direction with this lineup. I'm hoping that @joshthervnerd can do an update soon and maybe convince me otherwise
Appreciate your videos! Thinking about this model (2024). What are the counters made of? Is it simply laminated particle board or something more premium?
Thermofoil which is a wood core with laminated top wrapped over the edgeline
I love the no door in the bedroom.
"Roll up your toilet paper for better storage", yep I'll make sure to do that from now on cause Uncle Josh told me to... 😁
Just kidding of course I know you meant roll up your towels for better storage on the shelves. I've watched enough of your videos that I'm now fluent in Josh'ease which is similar to English but better...
Hahahaha
I wondered why people kept asking me about rolling up toilet paper
Does this change make the hanging closet longer?
possibly.. I haven't measured them up
Farm house but with the other sofa style and with this u-shape dinette.
👍🏻
Wow Josh I was blown away, I used to think the farmhouse was the end all...but this interior is gorgeous! So refreshing to see a jayco...not so...white lol. However I hate the backsplash in the American craftsman but everything else I love. That being said the dark brown 2 tone only works with the white interior it doesn't work with the American craftsman.that being said I think I'd stay with you white for now untill jayco figures out a better contrast color on the brown.
I know!! I feel the same way
I wouldn’t turn my nose up at either but I think if you forced me to pick one I would lean to craftsman by a hair
This Craftsman decor is very relaxing. Wood tones are rich looking here. Too many of the old wood interiors looked cheap. I like it! But the slide trim looks to be another color. Too many.
I know that pressed wood with fake grain was common on cheaper trailers in much of the late 20th century.
The kight color makes it look bigger.
Agree.. but MAN that rich craftsman wood tone speaks to me!!
14:19 wow impressive self control at this moment.
So hard
I prefer the theatre seating.🙂
The Farm House is nice, but my money would be on the Craftsman décor. I think the Farm House will show ware earlier.
I can't even decide, I could live with either.
Agreed
Yeah if you don't have kids the Farm House is nice but I prefer the Craftsman
I am with Diane on this one myself
Can you do a short video on the 2023 updates? I just left the Jayco display at the Tampa rv show and forgot to ask the rep about the details of the increased grey tank capacity and the front 5th wheel style jacks.
As soon as I can. May be a bit
I got you :)

Thank you so much
We just purchased this trailer 2 weeks ago with the farmhouse decor! I absolutely love it! Question…..what are the black brackets for in the front storage? There are 4 of them towards the ceiling of the cargo storage area.
Would have to look. Don’t recall then specifically
I found out that they are to hold a 6ft table! What a great idea!
Does the camper have outlets for the kitchen counter for appliances?
With only two adults camping and not being able to crawl into the bunk, I'd remove the top bunk and cut the bottom one in half length wise.
I’ve seen that done before
I have a question for either a tech or someone who has the "bunk storage" area or at least the storage door, that runs into the bunkhouse area....
Farmhouse decor
I love all of your Uncle Gary stories! 😅😅😅 Also, what the heck is the deal with #37?????
Well the thing is.. it comes after 36
So glad to finally see the video for this floorplan. I also went and looked at one of these in person and I really have to say I was so disappointed with these 4 changes from the 2021 model:
1.) The elimination of the drop frame.
Seems to be in line with much of what others have stated
Regarding the jacks: That's always been an option.
@@JeremyAkersInAustin ah - apologies. I was most definitely quick-scanning things this morning. Apologies and TY for the clarification
🙋UK! spoiled by US style trailers from before we moved, and so planning to ship one out here...although they don't have black tank dump stations here......not sure what to do there - but we'll figure it out!
oh and love the tile on the first one you showed, but love the cabinets on the 2nd. they could go even whiter imo!
really?! I did not realize that
I like the craftsmen over the farmhouse, but still dislike the transition of cabinets to the entertainment center.
Not good placement of heater vent right in front of the stove where you stand. I feel that would cause issues over time.
I will have to ask about it. It really surprised me to see it removed
Gosh if you get a chance and you have a Jayco HT with three slides and residential refrig would you care to show it thank you buddy Rick and Pam from southern Ohio
HT’s don’t have a resi fridge option - only the big birds like this one m.ruclips.net/video/goFHbynvo4Y/видео.html

Do they make an electric heating and air system for this trailer that can be added this rig.
There are things like space heaters or heat strips that may be available
Yup..2nd door for overniter stop on journey to aunties Edna's house
Aunt Edna lolol
Craftsman...for me... i don't like those corner bunks...these are better. Bathroom is almost perfect.
Jayco has a fixation on not making the secondary sleep area spacious enough for others to stand up and change clothes in privacy just like the 295 BHS/BH series
My thoughts:
I swear you just did a Rocky Horror reference a few days ago, but there's not anything wrong with that!
