Loka is a Sanskrit word for “world” in the cosmography of Hinduism, the universe or any particular division of it. In short, there is no perfect definition because the concept is incomprehensible to the human mind. Only through great penance and devotion , the knowledge can be achieved.
the lokas exist as celestial planes. They do exist. Similarly, the 7 chakras also exist and metaphorically are related but the inner 7 chakras are actually access to Parabrahaman or supreme energy or conciousness , the entire material universe manifests from this energy- everything including us. All the lokas are temporary post death abodes for sinless and righteous people with good deeds whereas the chakras when completely activated let you merge into supreme energy, also proving that this entire manifest universe is temporary and an illusion in reality but people get trapped in this illusion and keep taking birth after birth only to suffer their bad karmas from previous births. Also hell and heavens of all levels are temporary and there's a rebirth after that based on previous deeds.

The countless universes, each enveloped in its shell, are compelled by the wheel of time to wander within You, like particles of dust blowing about in the sky. The śrutis, following their method of eliminating everything separate from the Supreme, become successful by revealing You as their final conclusion (Bhagavata Purana 10.87.41)

I have read a small description about the 14 worlds in a very old book of Yogasanas by a Sannyasi (I don't remember his name). He told in his book that the human body is a mini representation of the whole cosmos. So, if one knows oneself completely, he is bound to know the cosmos. He said that the "Anda" and the "Brahmanda" r one.
Great to know, I always thought there were 6 in total. 2 for above, 2 for middle & 2 for underworld. 2 Above being Brahmalok & swan (or whatever it is spelled in English) 2 Middle for us humans & the spiritual beings 2 Underworld for the underworld beings like naga & then naraka. Vedas are 100% science. It contains almost all the things that we studies in any University. As an example, it contains the method of manufacture of rocket, the structure of Universe etc. Actually modern science contains only 20% of the science that is in Vedas. I wrote 12 books which explains Veda puraopanished's mostly on the basis of modern science. I am looking for a person's help to reveal such things to the Public. Hence this message.

This transcendental manifestive icon Krishna in His original face is primordial background of magnitudinal infinite Brahman and of the all-pervasive oversoul. Krishna as truly visioned in His variegated pastimes, such as owner of transcendental cows, chief of cowherds, consort of milk-maids, ruler of the terrestrial abode Gokula and object of worship by transcendental residents of Goloka beauties, is Govinda. He is the root cause of all causes who are the predominating and predominated agents of the universe. The glance of His projected fractional portion in the sacred originating water viz., the personal oversoul or Paramatma, gives rise to a secondary potency -- nature who creates this mundane universe. This oversoul's intermediate energy brings forth the individual souls analogously to the emanated rays of the sun.

Good job brother. Western scientists only found about the existence of number of planets using high tech telescope. you are getting it completely wrong.........these lokas should be compared with dimensions and not with parallel universe.........for eg: we live in a world with 3 dimensions which means we human can explore the world only in 3 dimension,technically we are exploring another dimension which is 'time' but it is not in our control......... so there can be other dimensions too and maybe creature who can explore them....... maybe a creature who can explore time and space,so as it can explore time ,for him,there is no past nor future,he can time travel and as time has no significance for him,he is neither born nor died.... maybe a creature who can explore one more dimension,let say ,'reality',so he can explore 'infinite' numbers of multiple reality of this world .......in a way he can explore parallel universe scientist says there can be more dimensions where the scientific laws can be different,i mean if we travel through reality dimension,the science would be same,all of these realities will have all these concept like gravity,light,photon,big bang,chemicals,etc... but if any person which can explore the above dimensions of 'reality',then he can explore the world which can be completely different from our universe,may be it will follow completely different physical laws. but it is just a theory.....and we need these theories of extra dimensions other than x,y,z because of phenomena like quantum tunneling and superposition....there are many different attempts for this,like string theory or quantum space theory(where space is divided into quantum,which result in more dimensions)...... but all these theories can lead to the same point,where we can say there are world above and beyond our reach.

No worries, we are a Shudra when we ourselves clean our homes, streets and verandahs. We are Vaishyas when we do our work-IT, govt jobs etc. We are Kshatriya when we protect our family and country from the clutches of evil doers. We are Brahman when we acquire wisdom via knowledge.

Lokas correspond to chakras, chakras are worlds within. Root to crown there are 7 and then there are 7 lowers. These represent our stages our conscious in our present life. If we die in one of them we go to that realm and then reincarnate based on our karma

Comment 2: Hare Krishna, (Disclaimer: first read Comment 1 below this comment.) The Spiritual World - And how to get there: Krishna means the highest pleasure: Krishna means the highest pleasure. We are all hankering after pleasure. We, the living entities, like Krishna, are full of consciousness, and we are looking for happiness. Krishna is perpetually happy, and if we associate with Krishna and cooperate with Him we will also become happy. Krishna descends to this material world to show His pastimes in Vrndavana, which are full of happiness. When Lord Sri Krishna was in Vrndavana, His activities with His cowherd boy friends, with the gopis, with the inhabitants of Vrndavana and with the cows were all full of happiness. The total population of Vrndavana knew nothing but Krishna. The purpose of Krishna’s pastimes in Vrindavan on this planet is so we can see such wonderful pastimes of Krishna and therefore come to understand something of what life in the spiritual world, the abode of Krishna, will be like when we go there. The Spiritual World: Krishna gives a description of the eternal sky in Bhagavad Gita: “That abode of Mine is not illuminated by the sun or moon, nor by electricity. And anyone who reaches it never comes back to this material world.” (Bg. 15.6) This verse gives a description of that eternal spiritual sky. We have a material conception of the sky, and we think of it in relationship to the sun, moon, stars and so on, but in this verse the Lord states that in the eternal sky there is no need for the sun nor for the moon nor fire of any kind because the spiritual sky is already illuminated by the brahmajyoti, the rays emanating from the Supreme Lord. Krishna resides eternally in His abode in the spiritual sky on a planet called Goloka, yet He can be approached from this world, and to this end He comes and manifests His real form in Vrindavan and performs wonderful pastimes there. When Krishna manifests this form, there is no need for our imagining what He looks like. To discourage such imaginative speculation, He descends and exhibits Himself as He is, as Syamasundara. Unfortunately, the less intelligent deride Him because He comes as one of us and plays with us as a human being. But because of this we should not consider that Krishna is one of us. It is by His potency that He presents Himself in His real form before us and displays His pastimes, which are prototypes of those pastimes found in His abode. In the effulgent rays of the spiritual sky there are innumerable planets floating. The brahmajyoti emanates from the supreme abode, Krsnaloka, and the anandamaya-cinmaya planets, which are not material, float in those rays. The Lord says, “One who can approach that spiritual sky is not required to descend again to the material sky.” How to travel to the spiritual sky: In the material sky, even if we approach the highest planet (Brahmaloka), what to speak of the moon, we will find the same conditions of life, namely birth, death, disease and old age. No planet in the material universe is free from these four principles of material existence. Therefore the Lord says in Bhagavad-gita that the living entities are traveling from one planet to another, not by mechanical arrangement but by a spiritual process. No mechanical arrangement is necessary if we want interplanetary travel. Bhagavad-gita informs us how to travel to the higher planetary systems (devaloka) with a very simple formula: yanti deva-vrata devan. One need only worship the particular demigod of that particular planet and in that way go to the moon, the sun or any of the higher planetary systems. Yet Bhagavad-gita does not advise us to go to any of the planets in this material world because even if we go to Brahmaloka, the highest planet in the material world, through some sort of mechanical contrivance by maybe traveling for forty thousand years (and who would live that long?), we will still find the material inconveniences of birth, death, disease and old age. But one who wants to approach the supreme planet, Krsnaloka, or any of the other planets within the spiritual sky, will not meet with these material inconveniences. Amongst all of the planets in the spiritual sky there is one supreme planet called Goloka Vrndavana, which is the original planet and the abode of the original Personality of Godhead Sri Krsna. All of this information is given in Bhagavad-gita, and we are given through its instruction information how to leave the material world and begin a truly blissful life in the spiritual sky. Who can reach the spiritual planets? The spiritual world can be reached by one who is nirmana-moha. What does this mean? We are after designations. Someone wants to become Lord, someone wants to become the president or a rich man or a king or something else. As long as we are attached to these designations, we are attached to the body because designations belong to the body. But we are not these bodies, and realizing this is the first stage in spiritual realization. We are associated with the three modes of material nature, but we must become detached through devotional service to the Lord. If we are not attached to devotional service to the Lord, then we cannot become detached from the modes of material nature. Designations and attachments are due to our lust and desire, our wanting to lord it over the material nature. As long as we do not give up this propensity of lording it over material nature, there is no possibility of returning to the kingdom of the Supreme, the sanatana-dhama. That eternal kingdom, which is never destroyed, can be approached by one who is not bewildered by the attractions of false material enjoyments, who is situated in the service of the Supreme Lord. One so situated can easily approach that supreme abode. How can we get to the Spiritual World? Next, one may raise the question of how one goes about approaching that abode of the Supreme Lord. Information on this is given in the Eighth Chapter of Bhagavad Gita. It is said there: “Anyone who quits his body, at the end of life, remembering Me, attains immediately to My nature; and there is no doubt of this.” (Bg. 8.5) One who thinks of Krishna at the time of his death goes to Krishna. One must remember the form of Krishna; if he quits his body thinking of this form, he approaches the spiritual kingdom. One who leaves this body thinking of the Supreme Personality of Godhead at once attains a spiritual body, as is promised in the fifth verse of the Eighth Chapter where Lord Krishna says, “He attains My nature.” This life is a preparation for the next life. If we can prepare, therefore, in this life to get promotion to the kingdom of God, then surely, after quitting this material body, we will attain a spiritual body just like the Lord. Therefore at the end of life the devotees think of the Supreme Personality of Godhead Sri Krishna. And because he is in personal touch with the Supreme Lord, he enters into the Vaikuntha planets in the spiritual sky. The Lord further adds that of this “there is no doubt.” This must be believed firmly. We should not reject that which does not tally with our imagination; our attitude should be that of Arjuna: “I believe everything that You have said.” Therefore when the Lord says that at the time of death whoever thinks of Him as Brahman or Paramatma or as the Personality of Godhead certainly enters into the spiritual sky, there is no doubt about it. There is no question of disbelieving it. The information on how to think of the Supreme Being at the time of death is also given in the Gita: “In whatever condition one quits his present body, in his next life he will attain to that state of being without fail.” (Bg. 8.6) So we can remember Krishna at the time of death we must always engage our minds in reading the Vedic literatures like Bhagavad Gita As It Is and Srimad-Bhagavatam. Just as materialists engage their minds in reading newspapers, magazines and so many materialistic literatures, we must transfer our reading to these literatures which are given to us by Vyasadeva; in that way it will be possible for us to remember the Supreme Lord at the time of death. That is the only way suggested by the Lord, and He guarantees the result: “There is no doubt.” (Bg. 8.7)

This means, a common man resides on the 7th plane of consciousness , while enlighten beings like buddha and many more existed on the 3rd plane of consciousness. Satya loka or bhrama loka is also temporary material world wherein repeated cycle of birth and death exits.. where all pious living entities dwell.. after finishing their Quantum of pious activities they again fall down to material world to continue their endeavours of reaching the supreme abode.. wher lord Krishna dwells.. that is goloka.. from where nobody returns and this spiritual realm is eternal... Holy Bhagwat Gita 8.16.
Well, the Lokas concept of Hindu refers to dimensions not to realms! Under dimensions come realms. What this means is all that we can see through material eyes (even through Hubble space telescope) is only one material dimension. Rest of the Lokas or dimensions are metaphysical and based on consciousness of human beings. And as there are sapta lokas there are also sapta paataals as well.

Loka is a Sanskrit word for “world” in the cosmography of Hinduism, the universe or any particular division of it.
In short, there is no perfect definition because the concept is incomprehensible to the human mind. Only through great penance and devotion , the knowledge can be achieved.
the lokas exist as celestial planes. They do exist. Similarly, the 7 chakras also exist and metaphorically are related but the inner 7 chakras are actually access to Parabrahaman or supreme energy or conciousness , the entire material universe manifests from this energy- everything including us. All the lokas are temporary post death abodes for sinless and righteous people with good deeds whereas the chakras when completely activated let you merge into supreme energy, also proving that this entire manifest universe is temporary and an illusion in reality but people get trapped in this illusion and keep taking birth after birth only to suffer their bad karmas from previous births. Also hell and heavens of all levels are temporary and there's a rebirth after that based on previous deeds.

I have read a small description about the 14 worlds in a very old book of Yogasanas by a Sannyasi (I don't remember his name).
He told in his book that the human body is a mini representation of the whole cosmos. So, if one knows oneself completely, he is bound to know the cosmos.
He said that the "Anda" and the "Brahmanda" r one.
Great to know, I always thought there were 6 in total. 2 for above, 2 for middle & 2 for underworld.
2 Above being Brahmalok & swan (or whatever it is spelled in English)
2 Middle for us humans & the spiritual beings
2 Underworld for the underworld beings like naga & then naraka.

The very name "Krishna " implies His love-attracting designation, expressing by His eternal nomenclature the acme of entity. His eternal beautiful heavenly blue-tinged body glowing with the intensity of ever-existing knowledge has a flute in both His hands. As His inconceivable spiritual energy is all-extending, still He maintains His all-charming medium size by His qualifying spiritual instrumentals. His all-accommodating supreme subjectivity is nicely manifested in His eternal form. The concentrated alltime presence, uncovered knowledge and inebriating felicity have their beauty in Him. The mundane manifestive portion of His own Self is known as all-pervading Paramatma, Isvara (Superior Lord) or Visnu (All-fostering). Hence it is evident that Krishna is sole Supreme Godhead. His unrivaled or unique spiritual body of super excellent charm is eternally unveiled with innumerable spiritual instrumentals (senses) and unreckonable attributes keeping their signifying location properly, adjusting at the same time by His inconceivable conciliative powers. This beautiful spiritual figure is identical with Krishna and the spiritual entity of Krishna is identical with His own figure.
The very intensely blended entity of eternal presence of felicitous cognition is the charming targeted holding or transcendental icon. It follows that the conception of the indistinguishable formless magnitude (Brahman) which is an indolent, lax, presentment of cognitive bliss is merely a penumbra of intensely blended glow of the three concomitants, viz., the blissful, the substantive and the cognitive. This transcendental manifestive icon Krishna in His original face is primordial background of magnitudinal infinite Brahman and of the all-pervasive oversoul. Krishna as truly visioned in His variegated pastimes, such as owner of transcendental cows, chief of cowherds, consort of milk-maids, ruler of the terrestrial abode Gokula and object of worship by transcendental residents of Goloka beauties, is Govinda. He is the root cause of all causes who are the predominating and predominated agents of the universe. The glance of His projected fractional portion in the sacred originating water viz., the personal oversoul or Paramatma, gives rise to a secondary potency -- nature who creates this mundane universe. This oversoul's intermediate energy brings forth the individual souls analogously to the emanated rays of the sun.

so there can be other dimensions too and maybe creature who can explore them.......

but it is just a theory.....and we need these theories of extra dimensions other than x,y,z because of phenomena like quantum tunneling and superposition....there are many different attempts for this,like string theory or quantum space theory(where space is divided into quantum,which result in more dimensions)......

The Spiritual World - And how to get there:
Krishna means the highest pleasure:
Krishna means the highest pleasure. We are all hankering after pleasure. We, the living entities, like Krishna, are full of consciousness, and we are looking for happiness. Krishna is perpetually happy, and if we associate with Krishna and cooperate with Him we will also become happy.
Krishna descends to this material world to show His pastimes in Vrndavana, which are full of happiness. When Lord Sri Krishna was in Vrndavana, His activities with His cowherd boy friends, with the gopis, with the inhabitants of Vrndavana and with the cows were all full of happiness. The total population of Vrndavana knew nothing but Krishna.
The purpose of Krishna’s pastimes in Vrindavan on this planet is so we can see such wonderful pastimes of Krishna and therefore come to understand something of what life in the spiritual world, the abode of Krishna, will be like when we go there.
The Spiritual World:
Krishna gives a description of the eternal sky in Bhagavad Gita: “That abode of Mine is not illuminated by the sun or moon, nor by electricity. And anyone who reaches it never comes back to this material world.” (Bg. 15.6)
This verse gives a description of that eternal spiritual sky. We have a material conception of the sky, and we think of it in relationship to the sun, moon, stars and so on, but in this verse the Lord states that in the eternal sky there is no need for the sun nor for the moon nor fire of any kind because the spiritual sky is already illuminated by the brahmajyoti, the rays emanating from the Supreme Lord.
Krishna resides eternally in His abode in the spiritual sky on a planet called Goloka, yet He can be approached from this world, and to this end He comes and manifests His real form in Vrindavan and performs wonderful pastimes there.
When Krishna manifests this form, there is no need for our imagining what He looks like. To discourage such imaginative speculation, He descends and exhibits Himself as He is, as Syamasundara. Unfortunately, the less intelligent deride Him because He comes as one of us and plays with us as a human being. But because of this we should not consider that Krishna is one of us. It is by His potency that He presents Himself in His real form before us and displays His pastimes, which are prototypes of those pastimes found in His abode.
In the effulgent rays of the spiritual sky there are innumerable planets floating. The brahmajyoti emanates from the supreme abode, Krsnaloka, and the anandamaya-cinmaya planets, which are not material, float in those rays. The Lord says, “One who can approach that spiritual sky is not required to descend again to the material sky.”
How to travel to the spiritual sky:
In the material sky, even if we approach the highest planet (Brahmaloka), what to speak of the moon, we will find the same conditions of life, namely birth, death, disease and old age. No planet in the material universe is free from these four principles of material existence. Therefore the Lord says in Bhagavad-gita that the living entities are traveling from one planet to another, not by mechanical arrangement but by a spiritual process. No mechanical arrangement is necessary if we want interplanetary travel.
Bhagavad-gita informs us how to travel to the higher planetary systems (devaloka) with a very simple formula: yanti deva-vrata devan. One need only worship the particular demigod of that particular planet and in that way go to the moon, the sun or any of the higher planetary systems.
Yet Bhagavad-gita does not advise us to go to any of the planets in this material world because even if we go to Brahmaloka, the highest planet in the material world, through some sort of mechanical contrivance by maybe traveling for forty thousand years (and who would live that long?), we will still find the material inconveniences of birth, death, disease and old age. But one who wants to approach the supreme planet, Krsnaloka, or any of the other planets within the spiritual sky, will not meet with these material inconveniences.
Amongst all of the planets in the spiritual sky there is one supreme planet called Goloka Vrndavana, which is the original planet and the abode of the original Personality of Godhead Sri Krsna. All of this information is given in Bhagavad-gita, and we are given through its instruction information how to leave the material world and begin a truly blissful life in the spiritual sky.
Who can reach the spiritual planets?
The spiritual world can be reached by one who is nirmana-moha. What does this mean? We are after designations. Someone wants to become Lord, someone wants to become the president or a rich man or a king or something else. As long as we are attached to these designations, we are attached to the body because designations belong to the body. But we are not these bodies, and realizing this is the first stage in spiritual realization. We are associated with the three modes of material nature, but we must become detached through devotional service to the Lord. If we are not attached to devotional service to the Lord, then we cannot become detached from the modes of material nature. Designations and attachments are due to our lust and desire, our wanting to lord it over the material nature. As long as we do not give up this propensity of lording it over material nature, there is no possibility of returning to the kingdom of the Supreme, the sanatana-dhama. That eternal kingdom, which is never destroyed, can be approached by one who is not bewildered by the attractions of false material enjoyments, who is situated in the service of the Supreme Lord. One so situated can easily approach that supreme abode.
How can we get to the Spiritual World?
Next, one may raise the question of how one goes about approaching that abode of the Supreme Lord. Information on this is given in the Eighth Chapter of Bhagavad Gita. It is said there: “Anyone who quits his body, at the end of life, remembering Me, attains immediately to My nature; and there is no doubt of this.” (Bg. 8.5)
One who thinks of Krishna at the time of his death goes to Krishna. One must remember the form of Krishna; if he quits his body thinking of this form, he approaches the spiritual kingdom. One who leaves this body thinking of the Supreme Personality of Godhead at once attains a spiritual body, as is promised in the fifth verse of the Eighth Chapter where Lord Krishna says, “He attains My nature.”
This life is a preparation for the next life. If we can prepare, therefore, in this life to get promotion to the kingdom of God, then surely, after quitting this material body, we will attain a spiritual body just like the Lord.
Therefore at the end of life the devotees think of the Supreme Personality of Godhead Sri Krishna. And because he is in personal touch with the Supreme Lord, he enters into the Vaikuntha planets in the spiritual sky. The Lord further adds that of this “there is no doubt.” This must be believed firmly.
We should not reject that which does not tally with our imagination; our attitude should be that of Arjuna: “I believe everything that You have said.” Therefore when the Lord says that at the time of death whoever thinks of Him as Brahman or Paramatma or as the Personality of Godhead certainly enters into the spiritual sky, there is no doubt about it. There is no question of disbelieving it.
The information on how to think of the Supreme Being at the time of death is also given in the Gita: “In whatever condition one quits his present body, in his next life he will attain to that state of being without fail.” (Bg. 8.6)
So we can remember Krishna at the time of death we must always engage our minds in reading the Vedic literatures like Bhagavad Gita As It Is and Srimad-Bhagavatam. Just as materialists engage their minds in reading newspapers, magazines and so many materialistic literatures, we must transfer our reading to these literatures which are given to us by Vyasadeva; in that way it will be possible for us to remember the Supreme Lord at the time of death. That is the only way suggested by the Lord, and He guarantees the result: “There is no doubt.” (Bg. 8.7)

That depends on degrees of pious activities you do in mortal world you get different world to live after you live this world . In srimad bhagwatam you will get all details. Only one correction..... All living eintities in all the planets above earth are mortal ( yes brahma too!!!!) as mentioned in srimad bhagwatam .

This means, a common man resides on the 7th plane of consciousness , while enlighten beings like buddha and many more existed on the 3rd plane of consciousness. This is the manner they meant i feel as per my knowledge of sanatan culture.

Satya loka or bhrama loka is also temporary material world wherein repeated cycle of birth and death exits.. where all pious living entities dwell.. after finishing their Quantum of pious activities they again fall down to material world to continue their endeavours of reaching the supreme abode.. wher lord Krishna dwells.. that is goloka.. from where nobody returns and this spiritual realm is eternal... Holy Bhagwat Gita 8.16.
Well, the Lokas concept of Hindu refers to dimensions not to realms! Under dimensions come realms. What this means is all that we can see through material eyes (even through Hubble space telescope) is only one material dimension. Rest of the Lokas or dimensions are metaphysical and based on consciousness of human beings. And as there are sapta lokas there are also sapta paataals as well.
