Hey Joe, thanks for your unboxing and review! I'm sorry that you were having disconnection issues. After hearing from a few others with a similar experience our team worked as quickly as we could to get a new Firmware (v2.43, release on April 4th) out that should improve your connection!
Hey Rapsodo thanks for reaching out and getting it sorted so quickly! 🤞 I'll update later today and try it out. Really keen as I believe this unit has unbelievable potential. Are we able to get any insight into if there is a possible GS Pro partnership with Rapsodo? Also feel free to reach out on email at joe@joelagowskigolf.com if you have anything offline. Cheers!
I had the same issues with mine, I was able to direct connect with my phone after a few dozen tries and get the firmware installed. However, I still can’t connect with my iPad. The firmware didn’t help.
@@JLagGOLF One quick note - I was having the same issues as you. After several hours of frustration trying to connect and apply updates from my iPad and my Android phone, I was finally able to get an iPad connected to apply the firmware update by putting the iPad and the MLM2PRO on their own wi-fi access point without any other traffic. Once I did that, I was able to connect and apply the update. I haven't had a chance to try a session with it since I was able to get it updated but I'm hoping this fixes the connection issues.
@@KyleS860 sorry to hear about your connection issues with your iPad. Our team is working hard to fix these and we will have a new App and FW available shortly. Thanks for your patience!
I just tried it with my phone and it was a LOT more stable I didn't have any disconnects which was really nice to see. I think this unit has a massive amount of potential.. can't wait to see what it becomes with a few software updates!
@@jaradcohen Thanks mate! So right not if you're looking for something that will work great for simulation play straight off the bat and connect up to GS Pro then the R10 is the unit to get. The MLM2PRO can read spin axis which is a massive Pro however it will take quite a while for the software to get to the point where it's good for simulation play. I do think the MLM2PRO will get there but right now it can't connect to GS Pro. The ball flight is going to be more accurate with the MLM2PRO because it can read spin axis but in saying that the R10 isn't bad at shot shape tbh.
Thanks for that Joe, your patience and perseverance is appreciated, I agree that it has enormous potential, like most new tech devices in a competitive world it has been rushed out, beta testers often miss issues, with so many combinations of hardware this is bound to happen. Give this unit some time to mature and we have potentially a game changer, glad I have my R10 so there’s no need to rush out and buy one, who knows what Garmin and the other big guys are doing. Home golf simulators are going to be the gateway to a huge uptake in the sport, hell I can see world wide competition developing where players have never even been on a golf course. E sports are growing and this is the perfect combination of skills to keep players addicted, even now with my R10 I find it hard to stop. With green fees going through the roof this is a great solution to allow players to practice and improve so time on the course is able to be enjoyed more. Cheers mate
Thanks Ken and I completely and 100 percent agree with this. The Garmin really opened this market up for the affordable home launch monitors now the floodgates are open! Cheers
I had the Garmin and the previous Rapsodo and just had too many issues just like the ones you were having with the new model. I have no patience with tech problems, so I returned them both. Until they work out all the bugs, I am sticking with my Swing Caddie and PRGR devices. No up loading or down loading anything needed. Just turn them on and place behind the ball and swing.
Yeah I understand like all tech these days it takes a while for software bugs to be sorted out and for the device to reach its full potential. The good thing is Rapsodo has been so proactive and has already pushed out an update in a few days. They also seem to be listening to the community which is rare for a company so I really think they are trying their best to sort it and do it in a timely manner. I have faith in them and I do believe this unit will be one of if not the best budget launch monitor out there given a bit of time. 🤞🤞🤞🤞
Thanks mate! I did more testing tonight and connected it to my phone and it was a lot more stable so it might be an iPad issue. I do like the iPad though as you get a lot more data on the screen to look at. The phone restricts you to 3 metrics unfortunately..
Hey Tom thanks mate I'll try to get something out soon. Spoiler alert I did hit a few drives the other 4 times I shot this 🤣 and the carry distances were shorter with the MLM2PRO kind of like what we see with the Garmin R10 and Garmin golf app. But this is no way conclusive because they might have been interfering with each other. Cheers
A real review finally! Please keep us up-to-date with the progress. I’m hoping for users or Wi-Fi errors, but it looked like you were doing everything correctly.
Thanks mate! And that's what you will get I bought all these units with my own money so I'll give honest reviews. I'm not out to give any one bad press. I firmly believe this Rapsodo could be the best budget launch monitor out there but we just need these little bugs sorted out. And I'm sure it will be eventually the Rapsodo team seem all over the updates. Cheers
I am having trouble with my mlm2pro that just arrived April 4th. It seems like the launch angle is not reading properly and my yardages are probably off by about 20 percent. Perhaps it is a firmware issue so l am not too worried. I have contacted the support team and I am awaiting their reply.
Hey Tom yes I have noticed the launch angle to be down about 2 degrees from my GC2 on pretty much every shot. I'm hoping it's just a software patch to fix it. Cheers
Sadly I find with many devices like this, early adopters get kinda shafted. It still isn't clear from Rapsodo, whether basic features such as range and spin will remain present after the first free year. I've seen videos which seem to indicate that these features are behind a paywall after year one. Obviously with everyone currently enjoying their first free year, Rapsodo have time to review that decision and hopefully walk it back.
Hey Lloyd yes I agree. Ok so! I can assume if you don't pay you will only get the top panel called PRACTICE this section doesn't have spin or spin axis. For the paid subscription you get the COMBINES section and the SIMULATION section. And to get spin and spin axis you need to go into the SIMULATION section. So that's what I'm guessing you unlock with the Sub... The COMBINES and SIMULATION section.
Joe just a thought about the disconnect or poor connections. You seem to be connecting over wireless and the connection issues are something that you get with other wireless devices. There are two standards 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz and you can have the same name for both the networks. Not sure what speed the unit uses but is there a mismatch. An option is to either turn the 5 wireless network off or rename it to be different than the 2.4 network.
Hey Phill yes good point I know my router is a "smart" router so it will just use 2.4 or 5 you don't really set which one with any device it just picks the best one that it thinks for that device. Maybe it is something where it is switching in-between 2.4 and 5? Possibly. I did a direct connection earlier today and it seemed more stable. Thanks for that I'll do some troubleshooting!
I’m trying to stay positive and I did just connect to it finallly with my iPad in the direct connect mode. I think the app needs an update to sort some bugs and then hooking it up in direct connect mode will be my go to. I get why they used wifi over Bluetooth (because sending large video files each swing wouldn’t be possible with Bluetooth) but it definitely seems a bit finicky. Ive had a few devices that use wifi like my live view camera and again it can struggle with connection. What I do think is really good is the way Rapsodo has reacted to this and been very proactive in pushing out an update to try and fix the issues. They seem to be all over communication with the community and any issues which is really cool.
Great question I think I just left mine overnight.. But I honestly don't believe in needing to charge devices before using now. Battery tech has moved on since the old days 🤣. But I guess we have to do as the instructions state....
Hey Joe, just loving the honest review👍 hope you find the connection issues. Also loved your projector review, it was so insightful. Something to be mindful of Is Foresight products do often read a slighter higher club head / ball speed then a Trackman, this could also be the case with the Garmin & Rapsodo. Comparing data directly between units is always a little hard due to the fact of the way they capture plus the algorithms used are different. I’m sure you videos will lead to this anyway but it seems GSPRO is a good platform to compare like for like. Keep up the great work 👍
Thanks Jez! I’ll keep that in mind. I always knew the foresight products read club head speed differently due to the photometric based taking club head speed at the point if impact (before the club head has the slightest deceleration because of the ball) vs centre of the mass or after compression with the ball. So the ball effectively slowing the club head down a mile or 2 an hour for the trackman or radar based units. I wasn’t aware of ball speed differences I always thought ball speed would be the same but now you have my brain thinking and will have to do some research in to it!! Lol Yes a few new things in the set up now I really need to do another Sim set up video. I have a list of about 30 videos I would like to make and not enough time to do it!
Nice review Joe. Preordered one as well before getting my Bushnell. Glad I just coughed up the extra dough for the BLP. Hopefully they can get the carry distance and connection issues sorted.
Thanks Jeremy! BLP is one of the best devices you can get for home use! I'm glad you got that one!! I'm so jealous of all you guys that have access to the BLP.. here in Australia it's $12,000 up front for the GC3 or nothing... No finance options available. One day hopefully 🤞🤞 Cheers
Hey mate so for me they haven't been completely resolved yet but they have gotten a lot better. I'm currently testing using a hotspot instead of my home wifi for the wifi connection method and I haven't had a single disconnect yet. So the home wifi disconnects might be due to modem/ router rather than the Rapsodo and the application. However more testing on this is needed. Cheers
Hey Jon I'm really hoping Rapsodo partnership with GS Pro I believe that will be a massive game changer and if they can beat the Garmin to an official partnership it would be huge. In terms of the community making a 3rd party connector I would be very surprised if someone isn't working on it! But I haven't heard anything yet.
Hey Bmac if I had to guess I would say yes as it's an algorithm thing but I would love to put it through the full test like the R10! Hopefully I will be able to do that in the future.
Hey mate yeah I tried my pixel phone and it was better than the iPad that's for sure. I think the key for me at the moment is to use the direct connection and not try use my home wifi as the network. Glad you're is working!! It gives me hope. Cheers
Thanks Joe! Great video! Do you know if you can use the mlm2pro within gspro? If so, will you need to pay for rapsado software to be able to use it after the first year?
Hey Max thanks mate I'm hoping the connection issues will be smoothed out this unit has soooo much potential. I did just connect it to my phone and it was a LOT more stable so it might be an iPad thing. So right not because it's such a new unit there isn't a connector for GS Pro yet but I'm sure as it's a cheaper launch monitor someone will come out with a connector for it much like the R10. The only difference is the R10 connects via Bluetooth where the MLM2PRO connects via wifi.. I'm not 100 percent sure if this will affect anything or if it will make it easier or harder to do but where there's a will there's a way! And who would have thought the R10 would have a direct connection with PC a few months ago. On a side note though this would be a massive opportunity for Rapsodo to really steal the market if they just partnered with GS Pro.. that would be an interesting move.
@@madweazl Hey Aaron it will still need someone to build a connector for that to work like the old Travis Lang connector but I have hope that someone in the community will do it. Cheers
Hi Joe. How are you? I am just about to receive a mlm2 on Monday. Is there any tricks that will help this setup process run smoothly? Also can you have unit on while charging? Cheers mate 👍🏼
Hey mate well if you want it to run smoothly then don't listen to me 🤣🤣. No but honestly it seems like it's luck of the draw on user experience.. I would just make sure everything's up to date and tbh fingers crossed there shouldn't be any major problems. Good question about charging it is you're using it I've never tried that.. I would assume yes but I'll get back to you on that. I've just remembered in the manual it says charge the device to 100 percent before using it.. I did that however I don't know if you actually need to do this like most modern technology the batteries don't have any memory so it shouldn't make a difference. Cheers
@@JLagGOLF Hey mate received monitor yesterday and had huge success today.. played for 2.5 to 3 hours going between e6 and awesome golf and did not have 1 disconnect using my home wifi. I played for about 2 hours yesterday and had a lot of disconnects and miss reads with awesome golf. The only thing I am suss on is distance with my driver, hybrid to 4 iron, seems short but maybe I don’t hit it as far as I thought I did 😂😂🤷🏼♂️ what distance do you have from monitor to ball, ball to screen? Overall I’m stoked with the unit 👍🏼
@@jaradcohen Fantastic mate! Really happy for you. Yes I think a lot of people realise this when they first get launch monitors. The Rapsodo app and Awesome Golf are incredibly accurate. I have roughly 9 to 9.5 feet ball to screen.
Wow that was tricky shame potentially a great unit . How’s your Wi-Fi signal in sim room ? Think would air towards BLP bit more money maybe ? Fingers crossed will get connection issues sorted very soon .
Hey Peter yeah I'm sure they will figure it out it's just disappointing not having it work straight away. They pushed through an update super quick though! Unfortunately I still had issues on the home wifi connection.. the direct wifi connection seemed to work though. I have really good signal strength in there and no issues with anything else. Yeah if the BLP was available take my money 💰💰 😂 Cheers
Interesting to have ball speed differences. I wonder if you can trust garmin/rapsodo more since theyre actually radar units? I dont know, which would you think has the ballspeed more accurate?
Hey mate yes the club speed I get the foresight products read club head speed differently due to the photometric based taking club head speed at the point if impact (before the club head has the slightest deceleration because of the ball) vs centre of the mass or after compression with the ball. So the ball effectively slowing the club head down a mile or 2 an hour for the trackman or radar based units. I wasn't aware of ball speed differences. But Jez one of my mates mentioned this so I'm going to do some research and get to the bottom of it. It quite possibly just be because the GC2 is an older unit and hasn't (and won't) receive an update from foresight to adjust this. More reading and testing to come on this! I do think the Garmin and Rapsodo are accurate! They might just be reading it differently. Having said that the distances are still short and the foresight distances in my testing are completely accurate and what I see on course. Cheers
great video mate. Have subbed. Great to see more Australian golf youtubers out there. The downside of the MLM2 Pro is having to use specific balls and no PC interface which means unless that changes, little chance of GS PRO interface.
Hey Mike thanks mate! Yeah the balls are the key... And the subscription. That's the thing you have to have the subscription for the Rapsodo range and to get the spin axis. Yeah it's going to be interesting to see how or if someone is able to make a connector. Or is Rapsodo partnership with GS Pro! That would be massive.
Connection issues are similar to the Skytrak which first has to connect to the Skytrak on its own Wifi , and then join all to you home network .. This also never works well .. They need to do the basic connection by Bluetooth and then just connect to your home wifi !! Also dont assume that the Foresite is exact !! It can differ from Trackman so who knows ..
Hey mate yeah to me a Bluetooth connection seems a lot easier and less troublesome than wifi connections. Anything I've had that uses wifi always seems to have issues. But then again I'm not that techie so I wouldn't be able to tell you if one is better than the other from a technical point of view. Cheers
Thanks for the video. I'd be so disappointed if I bought this and the connection dropped so many times. Unacceptable. I hate to see everyone that jumped on this quickly and have these issues.
Thanks mate yeah it's just one of those things being an early adopter.. they will sort it out I'm sure but the real test is how quickly they sort it out. I guess for a company like this (bringing out something that has so much potential and everyone wants it and is talking about it) they can't test every single device and if it's going to work so early adopters almost become extended beta testers. Hopefully it gets fixed soon! Cheers
Hey mate I'm sure they will get something out quick! 🤞🤞 On a side note I did connect it up to my Pixel 6 and it was very stable. I didn't have any dropouts in the quick 10 minute session so maybe it's an iPad thing at the moment. Cheers
Hi Joe, I must say I’m very disappointed after watching. My unit comes tomorrow, and if this is what I have to look forward to then I’ll be returning it. I totally agree with you that at this price point plus’s 200 annually, they should have this tightened up prior to launch.
Hey Joe first off good name! Yeah it was really disappointing and looking at the forums I'm not the only one. I think with anything new like this the company can't really test every single device so early adopters almost become extended beta testers. I just hope to see Rapsodo act quickly and fix it! If it does happen to you then definitely try a different device. I changed from my iPad pro to Pixel 6 and with the Pixel didn't have any disconnects after 10 minutes of use! So I'll be testing that more. I'm actually really surprised though as generally apple products are more stable with this sort of thing. On a side note though I'm not a fan of the phone interface as you only get 3 data points to look at while hitting... I want to get my iPad working because you get a lot more just due to the screen real-estate. Cheers
This thing is a friggin nightmare. Not ready for Primetime. Returning tomorrow. I should know better than to be an early adopter. It will not connect at all. two days wasted.
Yes it has been very frustrating for me as well... And trying to put some videos together has been even more of a nightmare. I have been assured however that there is a new app and firmware version coming very soon so I'm hoping that it will fix the issues. The thing is when this is connected and working the data is AMAZING. And I know in the future when the software is refined it will be amazing. It just has so much potential.. but like you said early adopters have to put up with the frustration. We are essentially a bigger beta test group 🤣
Yes for it to struggle with the iPad I was amazed! If anything I would have thought the android device would struggle. They seem to be very proactive in fixing it though so I'm sure it will be sorted shortly.
Hey Corn Pop I am staying positive it is very very very early days and these companies can't really test on every single device before release so early adopters almost become extended beta testers... The real thing now is how quickly Rapsodo reacts to this and how quickly they listen to the rapidly growing community and push out bug fixes! Cheers
Hey Rick it’s very early days and I do believe this unit can and will be great it has sooooo much potential. I am going to cut them some slack and hope for some quick updates.. easy for me to say I have a few different units. I would be very frustrated if it was my only launch monitor. Hope it works out for you mate

In terms of the community making a 3rd party connector I would be very surprised if someone isn't working on it! But I haven't heard anything yet.
Never had any issues connecting or staying connected
I haven't for the past 6 months but with this recent beta update unfortunately the connection issues are back!! 😕😕
Do you think awesome golf with the mlm2 produces better carry like r10 AG does compared to garmin golf app?
Hey Bmac if I had to guess I would say yes as it's an algorithm thing but I would love to put it through the full test like the R10! Hopefully I will be able to do that in the future.
Thanks Joe. Hope the update works. Have you tried a iphone, I have seen it work seamlessly
@@JLagGOLF Have you tried the E6 port similar to how the Garmin initially connected to GSPro?
@@madweazl Hey Aaron it will still need someone to build a connector for that to work like the old Travis Lang connector but I have hope that someone in the community will do it.
Cheers
@@JLagGOLF Isn't the E6's port forwarding the connector?
@@JLagGOLF Thanks mate. I think the mlm2 has potential. Hopefully keeps running smoothly.
How far do you have monitor behind ball?
@@jaradcohen Yeah I definitely agree! I run the minimum requirements so 8.5ft.. maximise the ball flight.
Yeah if the BLP was available take my money 💰💰 😂
Cheers
New firmware and updates are coming or are out that fix the connection issue
Awesome thanks Quinn!
Cheers
I thought it was $200.00 a year after but in the app you just saw 300 per year??
Hey mate I'll look into it more but it could just be that it has my location (Australia) so has done the conversion for me so $300 AUD.
Nice video. I hope the issues get sorted out for you. I'd be just as upset as you were.
Hey mate I'm sure they will get something out quick! 🤞🤞 On a side note I did connect it up to my Pixel 6 and it was very stable. I didn't have any dropouts in the quick 10 minute session so maybe it's an iPad thing at the moment.
Cheers
Hi Joe,
I must say I’m very disappointed after watching.
Cheers
Had mine working well all week
Hey Justin that's good to hear 👍 Are you using a direct connection with the unit or are you using your home wifi network?
@@JLagGOLF home wifi mate
I just got mine on June 19. connect fine
Love hearing that as it gives me hope... I had a session today and it was horrible with disconnects... Unusable 😢
Looking toward to this mate
If it cant connect to IOS it's gonna cause alot of issues in the android world.
Yes for it to struggle with the iPad I was amazed! If anything I would have thought the android device would struggle. They seem to be very proactive in fixing it though so I'm sure it will be sorted shortly.
50 disconnects "all the major issues of a theme park disaster" (JP) BUYER BEWARE...!!! "Un-usable" BUYER BEWARE...!!!
Hey Corn Pop I am staying positive it is very very very early days and these companies can't really test on every single device before release so early adopters almost become extended beta testers... The real thing now is how quickly Rapsodo reacts to this and how quickly they listen to the rapidly growing community and push out bug fixes!
Cheers
@@JLagGOLF Yeah. I just want it to work. Thanks
Rapsodo has dropped the ball so badly. Awful communication, no stock and terrible hardware or software to this point.
Hey Rick it’s very early days and I do believe this unit can and will be great it has sooooo much potential. I am going to cut them some slack and hope for some quick updates.. easy for me to say I have a few different units. I would be very frustrated if it was my only launch monitor. Hope it works out for you mate
@@JLagGOLF I totally agree they can turn it around, they have just done a poor job communicating which for me is a very easy fix. I have an Eye XO, but wanted to check this out for outdoors so I waited. I'll give them a little time.
I received mine today and sadly can confirm the connectivity issues. It’s basically not playable in any mode so i’m also unable to see camera quality. I got about 6 shots in and gave up. I’ll keep checking your channel for any good workarounds or updates.
@@MrTonyMonteiro Hey mate sorry to hear that! Hopefully we will get a fix soon. Also try a different device if you can it was a lot more stable when I used my Pixel 6.
