I think a funny detail about the way Ranma ended up making Ryoga fall into the cursed spring is that he (once again) jumped and hit him in the head. Just like all those other times he did the same when they were in the same school.
It's canon that Ranma's pop, Genma, tried to keep his son away from 'weak' women, afraid they will distract him from his training and contaminate his man-among-men ethos. That included his mother In other words, Ranma came into becoming a girl with hardly a clue about them
He also used to go to an all-boys school. Ranma definitely has no real prior experience interacting with girls and definitely knows nothing about them in general
This is what I love about Akane's hair when it's cut, she's like a different person a more mature and beautiful person. Notice how her long hair looked so heavy like it's a weight on her to try and act girly for her crush to notice her. Once her hair is cut, she no longer has to hide her tomboy self and she's more beautiful because of it. I also like how 3 dimensional her short hair is like you can see all sides of it from front to side to side you don't know if it's side or front. This haircut is the starting point of her and Ranma's relationship he sees her cuter side and Akane let's go of her old crush and focuses on someone who sees her for her tomboy, cuteness, short hair and all
Ranma feels guilty for Ryoga’s curse that’s why he doesnt expose him. At the end of the day he bullied Ryoga every day in school that caused he followed him to China and then he was the one who pushed him not caring for his surroundings. It’s not that crazy that Ryoga holds a grudge against him.
@wagnar to be fair Ranma did accepted the challenge to set things out with him and even waited 3 entire days but Ryoga got lost, due to that he assumed that was ignored and shamed by Ranma which wasn't the case. Then he followed them to China and got curse due to that, is entirely his fault. Ranma is a a jerk sometimes that is a fact but is due to his father and the way he raised him, despite that he is too good with Ryoga if We consider that Ryoga actually wanted to kill him and not just to fight. Ryoga is someone that doesn't want to assume the blame and is easier for him to put that on Ranma.
@@AraragiSenpaiSay Following him to China was Ryoga's fault. But being pushed into the spring of drowned girl was enterely on Ranma's fault. He already had fallen into one of them and was still chasing his dad careless around Jusenkyo.
@wagnar yeah but I mean he was the one who got lost and didn't arrive to the duel on time then he gets mad at Ranma and followed to China due to that. If We put the blame in a balance most of it goes to Ryoga.
Ryogas gonna keep challenging Ranma until they see who’s top dog. It’s the big rivalry in the anime. Also, Ryoga said the breads weren’t what he was pissed off at Ranma about nor was not waiting long enough for him to come back and duel, he just blames Ranma for his bad luck and misery he experiences from his lack of direction and yeah, even if it was an accident that lead to Ryoga being cursed, he still blames him. It’s on Ranma that he keeps Ryogas cursed form a secret so as to taunt him
It should also be stated Ryoga is incredibly honorable. Even though he is sleeping with Akane he would never try anything. He’s also childishly naive about love and is more flustered by sex than even Akane is.
Ryoga's voice actor plays a wide range of characters. This time, he is in charge of the voices of Ryoga, the black mini pig (Pi-chan), the guide to the cursed spring in China, and the dog. He is also acting in the old version. (I don't remember the dog.) There was a video of him playing three roles at the same time in an old version of the anime, so I'll include the Japanese title. Well, to be fair, if she ever found out that that is Ryoga, she'd kill him. So, Ranma, in his own sort of "bro code ," is trying to save him from that, lol.
OG series: "Go ahead, Akane. Hit us as hard as you like, if it'll make you feel better..." (sudden local-color shot of a construction pounder nearby, pounding twice) "...She's very straightforward, isn't she? 🤕"
Akane only grew out her hair to look “feminine” for Dr.Tofu to notice her, but that was all in vain as he had his heart always for Kasumi and when he said he liked her hair short, Akane not only cried cuz he said she looked cute, but that she grew out her hair for nothing. At least she learned to be herself. Also , from previous eps, Ranma is a master dodger. When he’s not distracted that is
“You thought that DOG was me?!” “Look, in my defense, it seemed about as smart as you.” But really, the emotional height of this episode is Akane letting go of her first love. Remarkably good crying from Noriko Hidaka, considering she’s returning to that scene 35 years later.
Have you noticed that the moment Ranma meets Akane there is a flashing sound? And a close up of her. That's how Ranma sees her. He feels it. Then when she plays softball he blushes when he looks at her and again the sound, but also light pink colors. Bright.. And finally when they talk in this chapter. Again a close up of her smile. How he sees her. In pink tones. Warm. That boy is in love.
I feel like they can't bring old pervert master back if they change they alter the story to be more palatable. Also, best girl won't even compete against Akane, as if Ranma even cared about best girl. It just felt more even in the past version as Akane was a Tsun-Tsun.
I've just seen a video comparing episode 4 of the remake with the corresponding episode of the old anime. I didn't think about it, but there the sudden cut of the hair was shown with a cut of the FRAME!
The thing about Ryoga ending up cursed... Ranma was chasing Genma, post their own cursing event, and likely so, so angry that he didn't really process that it was a person he banged into. (And not unlike Episode 49 of the 1989 Anime, Genma was also here being unsafe with his surroundings and letting his son be angry at him and chase him. What happened in the filler episode in question? A head injury that could have been fatal.)
Nooooooo! I'm mad as heck! Ryoga fell into one of the pools in China that transform him into a pig is messed up. He should have fallen in a pool where he also turn into a girl. That would have been a whole lot better story line. I am so disappointed with that part of the storyline.

I mean, the boys were definitely the wrong ones in this situation, their fight is what caused her hair to get cut. But like, ranma told her like 3 times to get away, so, isn't the blame kinda 70/30 between them and her? It wasn't her fight, you know?
