- The Funkateers are a dance group from Inkster, Michigan. Inkster is near Detroit, Michigan and the home of The Marvelettes, the world renown female vocal group on Motown Records. Inkster was also the home of WCHB an AM radio station, which was the first African American radio on owned and operated by African-Americans and was built from the ground up in the United States of America. After WCHB and The Marvelettes put Inkster’s name out there, The Funkateers were next in brining pride to their community. They became some of the most popular guys at Inkster High during the mid to late1980’s.
The group was formed when three guys performed at a 1979 Inkster High prep rally. created by Ed “Ever Ready” Eddie Miller and “Toothpick Bubby” Randsom Horne, then came Kevin Miles who gave them the name Funkateers
They performed on numerous occasions on The Scene, the TV show I hosted, as a five member group. I liked their style of dance immediately because of the energy and electricity they possessed plus they had their own original style of dance. They went onto become featured dancers on the Michael Henderson Wide Receiver Tour, and working with other artists like Alicia Meyers, Tom Browne and many, many more. They get Nat Morris' approval and a hardy Captain's Salute!!!

Dudes actually taught me how to dance, and more importantly, dance charisma. Not taking away ANYTHING from the rest of the group, because they all had there own individual thing, but Cricket was just smooth with it. I learned a lot from y'all. RIP Cricket...long live The Funketeers!
The Scene was a epic part of my life!!!!.....i remember this taping like it was yesterday....Thank you Mr.Nat Morris!!...Rest in Heaven Cricket you were really Bad and talented.....

Growing up as a kid in the D back in the 70s and 80s my dream was to be a Funkateer. They were fresh! We had a mini version of them at Von Steuben Jr High called KAOS.
Diabolical dancers forever!!

Ms. Amaker, I remember that group they came out of Inkster MI. R.I.P Michael Amaker and June Howaed. There were a lot of good groups back then. Magic, Zodiac, The Cloudsteppers, Pazazz, Destiny The Knights, The Puppets just to name a few. They all learn from The Teers. Great memories

My name is Joslyn.I used to dance on the Scene!
Thanks for your part in helping to ake The Scene and iconic Detroit dance show
You have to give credit where credit is due.. They designed a style of dancing on par with every other dance being performed back in the day... They incorporated popping, locking, jitt and doused it with their own special secret sauce! Bravo my brothers bravo!
At 2:45 that transition was cold.. The audience didn't really comprehend what had just happened..As a dancer i dissected it to the fullest!
Nat they were from Inkster.. I'm pretty sure they would want their city to be represented
What's the name of this song?
?? I will guess something Wordy Rappinghood but not totally sure
@@NatMorrisChannel Hi! Wordy Rappinghood by Tom Tom Club

Hay Nat you the man. This is Luckey from Playskule. You edited our video. I remember watching the Scene when I was 14 trying to dance like the Funkateers. My brother and I had the white gloves jamming to Kraftwerk and The Tom Tom Club. Thanks for the memories and love for Detroit.
Sup Luckey, thanks for stopping by my channel and checking out The Funkateers. Thank you for the opportunity to work on your video as well. Detroit has always been the place to be!!!!
