    Would love a video on how to adapt a time trial set up into a race set up, I think a lot of people just take TT set ups and do 5 lap races but then are lost for longer races.

      I've learned the following naturally by taking TT setups and using them for longer races (ranked, got to gold 3):
      - Add a few clicks (2 to 8 or so) of downforce to each wing if possible. This will push the car a bit more into the ground, stopping the tyres from sliding as much, causing less tyre wear and a more consistent lap time over the course of the entire race. This will also help provide some stability for the first stint of your race if you're newer to longer races because you might not be used to the weight of the extra fuel needed for a longer race (the car will be much heavier).
      - TT tyre pressures are probably the least useable part of a TT setup for races because temperature and tyre wear doesn't matter in TT. People set tyre pressures purely for grip and speed in TT. You can look up some tyre pressures for certain tracks, but ultimately tyre pressure will come down to a careful balance between getting the optimal temps for the tyre's operating window and the optimal temps for how you drive naturally. As an example, lots of people like me tend to naturally "over" drive their car, so our tyres tend to run hotter than others. That means I tend to set my pressures a bit lower because I know they'll creep up into the operating window fast just by how I drive.
      - You can maybe loosen your suspension a click or two for some comfort and added stability over the course of a longer race.
      - Fuel becomes a big factor in your strategy for longer races. If you're starting from the back and you think there might be safety cars, setting a more aggressive fuel load (less fuel) might be a good way to keep your car lighter and faster with the chance to save fuel during a safety car or while following the leader. If you're the leader, you might want to be flat out the whole race, so you could try putting a bit more fuel in initially. It really will depend on how you think you can get the most out of the least amount of total fuel.
      I wonder how much of this is actually wrong, given that I'm only learning naturally and this has just been from my own experience. I would love to know how much someone like Brendon could add to this conversation!

    Great tutorial, was very easy to follow and know what area adjusts which characteristics of the car.
    The main problem I find when I try changing setups is focusing and critiquing my own driving too much before making changes, (mainly in 1 lap pace) I’ll find myself understeering, locking up or losing traction and I usually refuse to change setup and try to improve my own driving aspect.
    For someone like you for example who competes in esports and the 2 most competitive leagues, there’s simply little to zero mistakes in your driving so any blips in your lap or certain parts of the track like understeer you can simply know that it’s an issue in setup while for me who is still around 1-1.5s slower than the esport guys in most tracks (0.5 being my best delta) I constantly have to think “was that my fault on throttle that I lost traction/locked up, or is the car not balanced enough”
    I feel like you could possibly delve into the mental side of things for a short time in your intermediate or advanced version of the tutorials as everyone has a driving style but when for example may I have to change it?
    Overall very informative and looking forward for more.

    Nice vid, I would also add that aerodynamic over/understeer depends on difference between rear and front wing level.
    Less rear wing and more front wing -) oversteer
    More rear wing and less front wing -) understeer
    Anti-roll bars are also crucial for adjusting mechanical over/understeer of the car (works similarly as suspension stifness).

    First of all: THANK YOU💯 because of your videos i am starting to know where to look for to improve. At most tracks im like 1.3s off WR in TT. Lets say i want to improve the rotation of the car, what is the order of adjusting? You explained multiple corner types ofcourse, but some of them can be adjusted by 2 different settings, how do i know which one to adjust first?

    I have a question: Besides lowering the front height, would raising the rear height also be helpful?😮

    Hi @brendonleigh can you talk about changing the diff and bb during the race? Also i noticed 'high' toe in/out. All the setups I found online usual have almost no toe

    • @Michaelknight79
      @Michaelknight79 4 месяца назад

      I noticed that. I add a little toe to see if it can help with lap times

  • @rz5090
    @rz5090 4 месяца назад +2

    Do you ever change the differential during a lap? I know for example on Bahrain I use 56% brake bias, maybe 57 once rear tires drop off in three turns, the rest are f the track I use 54 or 55%. Just curious if esports guys do that with differential. (I default to Bahrain because it’s my best track, I ran for months on it trying different set ups, until I bought set ups from sim racing center. Get a safe and an esport( sometimes updated) 100 bucks for all tracks). Was a good deal for me so I can focus on driving, but I do play with them sometimes to try and see diffences from changes.

      look at Jarno Opmeer's latest VOD on Twitch around Mexico, WOR. He had his camera off and it shows him making multiple adjustments to both bias and diff each lap

    • @BrendonLeigh
      @BrendonLeigh  4 месяца назад +4

      I do change the setting during the lap yeah, that’s the final few % of performance and if you can manage mentally to stay focused while changing stuff you’ll find performance for sure

    • @rz5090
      @rz5090 4 месяца назад

      @@BrendonLeigh yeah not ready for that yet but I was curious, I still use drs assist and lines in the corners, I just started switching the brake around but only on Bahrain. I will implement it on other tracks as I learn them better.
      Only other question for now would be on the fuel mix, what would be a reason to switch it to lean off of default, just from a curiosity perspective.

    I'm relatively new to f1 23... I still haven't found the explanation for the mdf differential setting...what does that do? In the preset there are off throttle and on throttle, which makes sense... What does the mdf setting do? Thank you to anyone who can tell me this.

    • @jonase86
      @jonase86 4 месяца назад +1

      I dont know if you got your answer yet, but the MDF Differential changes the "ON THROTTLE" diff. Usefull to maybe push a few clicks up for a better start of the line and then lower it again to the choosen value. A pro tip from Brendon himself to me on F1 22. Or if your tyres gets worn out, try to lower it. ( If I remember right :D )

      @@jonase86 thank you for this!

    • @jonase86
      @jonase86 4 месяца назад

      @@blwm9206 I think I remember it right. If you put it higher in the start, both wheel will spin at the same speed = better traction of the line. And if your tyres gets worn out fast, its beacuse they slide/bounce when turning. Like this ruclips.net/video/j5TRyPPKSJo/видео.html it has 100% locked diff beacuse he has a welded the diff. But you get the point I guess :D
