As a result you find here a small number of tools every watch collector should know.

My big recommendation for a tool, possibly more important than any of the ones you kindly showed us is ... a magnifying lamp on an arm. I have a _Lumeno Series 851X 152mm LED Magnifier._ So I can light the work area and see all the very small things, all while keeping both hands free to do the task. It has been invaluable for changing straps, adjusting bracelets and other non watch delicate work. And it helps avoid scratching your work piece. It also serves as a handy desk light for general use.

Tim, it is important to qualify the statement regarding the cost of tools and the necessity for high quality screwdrivers. For high-end pieces, the tolerances can be very, very small and therefore extreme precision is required. You are simply not getting this from Amazon tools. Bergeon are expensive, but the first time you scratch your Rolex or Omega bracelet or mar the screwhead because the driver doesn't fit perfectly, you will wish you had spent the extra money on a higher quality tool.

The radio timekeeping Casio watches make great regulators. These days I tend to wear a mechanical watch on my right wrist and one of these Casios on my left wrist.Crazy?Perhaps,or maybe just sad,but I have far too many watches so at least I'll get through a few more this way................................

For brushing, specifically on Lorier watches, their websites specifies the exact 3m “sandpaper” with the grit and everything that they use to brush it, and say you can rejuvenate brushed surfaces using that material

Hi Tim, it must be fun to be able to make modifications and repairs to the watches one owns. Unfortunately, my manual clumsiness limits me to only changing NATO straps when one color gets boring. That level of intervention seems minuscule, but as we say in these latitudes, "Algo es algo; peor es mascar lauchas." Regards from Chile!

The brush contains fibreglass filaments, I call it a fibreglass pen, they have been used on electrical components for over 100 years.

You should always get the highest quality tools you can afford. Low quality tools often have bad fitment or they are made of soft metal. Not only will they not work, they can ruin your watches, as they e.g. slip the notches in your case back or bugger up screw heads.

Takes an extra minute but I always put electrical tape on my lugs first and have never scratched the case. 👍
