In the 1930s my great aunt was postmaster in her combination restaurant/post office down the road in Nichols. My great uncle was sherriff and on Saturday nights his brother would get drunk and ride through town on his horse blazing away with his six shooters!
So I hear! I'll have to do an episode on that.
Do a video on the usage of Bows and Arrows in the Wild West. Love the content, also from Arizona and lover of the west
Great suggestion!
Very interesting i never knew when stamps began an actual mail service started.
England had it before us, though.
@@ArizonaGhostriders I also did not know that thank u sir an happy labor day.
Splendid Ghost🤗! Thanks🤣
You're welcome!
Santee,
What was the typical dinner for a family or single persons in the old west? What about the common restaurant menu?
I have some videos on old west food that show restaurant fare and what pioneers ate. I'll do more.
Hey santee, if you have red dead online or ps plus, could you see how historical accurate the clothing items are?
I've mentioned it in the console game in two videos. I might do more in the future. They did a great job with clothing in the game.
"...risking life and limb, riding across a dangerous landscape..." Or filming a video with Dirty Dan.
Pause the video at 1:14 and look at the times involved. The stage wasn't that fast, averaging 4-5 mph, which is slightly faster than a jog. I bet people were glad to see the SP come through.
I was told once that mileage signs on the highway derive from the distance between the main post office in each city, as they rarely move, but city limits often do. Anyone know if this is true?
I'll look that up! Interesting.
Oh no 😲😲😲😲 how could dirty Harry be so cruel !! i hope he didn't injure you Santee😉😉😉. You need to *Return To Sender* to Dirty Harry 😂😂😂😂
Very informative episode Santee.
Peace and blessings. Stay safe
Thank you!
As always great information and a good historylesson Santee :) Yeeehawww :)
Thank you, stor jägare i skandinavien!
Howz about a tribute to Old Tucson, it will be missed. Loved the Steampunk Conventions!
Well, it's not gone. The county took it over, and we don't know yet what they want to do with it. Pretty sure it will come back after the pandemic!
If you go to Arizona they have part of the Butterfield trail marked, you can hike it. (at least you could when I was younger).
The question we all want to know: Did the road agents really say "throw down the box"?
(or was that Wells Fargo?)
It's my understanding they said something to that effect. 'Stand and Deliver' was another one.
@@ArizonaGhostriders Thanks!
No video arcade? Man what did the kids do for fun?
Play marbles and try not to die from Cholera or Dysentery, etc. !
@@ArizonaGhostriders ah poor things
I will see you down the trail
Yes!
I love how all of these videos can be summed up as "Murica'" 🤠🇺🇸
Why thank yuh!
Where I live there are some towns where people don't have a mailbox and they are forced to go and have a post office box which is not cheap. What's up with that? Thanks for the information always love your videos. ❤️❤️
Right??? You're welcome.
Very cool content . We loved it
Thank you!
Do you one on musical instruments in the old west
When I get some footage.
@@ArizonaGhostriders Perhaps you could locate someone who has a collection, or better yet someone who plays those instruments.
@@ArizonaGhostriders I've seen great movie footage of Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys playing in saloons but I suspect drumsets, trombones, trumpets and clarinets were actually rare in old West saloons!
@@alswann2702 Maybe. I'll look into it.
"Less than the priceof a glass of whiskey," eh? So what was the price of a glass of whiskey?
Five to ten cents...unless it was a boom town. Those could go over a dollar a glass.
Hey santee
Could you do an episode on watches and clocks in the old west the styles, types and how they were carried
Did one on watches!
Hey Santee, you've done videos on tobacco in the old west, cigars, and pipes..how about a vid on how to light them and the kind of matches available in the Old West?
Certainly. Match safes as well.
@@ArizonaGhostriders Awesome, you see them in plenty of old west movies, particularly the strike anywhere type like in For a Few Dollars More when Mortimer strikes his match to try and light his pipe off of a guy's suspender straps while Eastwood uses one of the wooden pillars in the saloon to light his cigar.
@@ShinKyuubi ....and Jack Palance lights his off his jaw in City Slickers
@@ShinKyuubi I can strike them off a tooth, and with a fingernail. My skin is too oily I guess for that one
@@ArizonaGhostriders I can't really risk it on the teeth..my top teeth are implants..bad day and a big bill for me if I screw them up trying to be fancy. I got a pretty scruffy face a day after shaving though so I might be able to do it that way, I've seen people do it with their fingernails and I ALMOST got it that way..but the stick broke.
Hey Santee. You think you could do a episode on jobs/the average working man? Maybe options as a young adult on the frontier to make due. Thanks.
Great episode as usual 🤠👍🏻
Certainly
I love mail
Yes, me too.
Hey Santee, how about one on train cars of the old west?
Yeeeaaah!
Mornin Santee & Dirty Dan ☕️.... Take it easy on him Dan 😂
LOL
hey santee would you do a video (or 2) on the historical accuracy and historical wrongness of the rdr2 clothing, weapons and towns
I did 2 videos on some of the things they got right and wrong.
@@ArizonaGhostriders i know but i want to see some on the towns i dont think you mentioned towns/citys in those videos
