Hey Ash, thanks for the video. One question. You recommend to disconnect the battery even for popping out. Why? Because of the horn noise? I don't want to remove the airbag, just pop it out and to check something below, still disconnecting the battery? Again, I will not remove the airbag (cables). Thx.
Well, to advise you that removing or popping out the airbag without disconnecting the battery would be bad advice, however, they only go off if a voltage is sent to them and that'll only happen if the crash sensors get hit 😉
Hi Ash, great work. I have done the same with my XFR after watching your video; however, the software is my issue as JLR won't do it as they know it cannot justify their charge. Where did you get your software?
I got a laptop with it already installed complete with the cable from eBay, if you search for it you should find it. You can buy the software and cable from there separately but I know many people who have had lots of trouble installing it so buying it complete like I did is your best option
Hello mate, I’ve fitted a wheel, programmed it on SDD, it’s now showing as fitted in the CCF but the icon won’t show up on the display? You don’t have any ideas as to why??
Hi James.... erm.... I haven't got a clue I'm afraid, what you'll have to do is traull through eBay for the listings under the search "XF Steering Wheel" and look for one with the metal rings on the back.
Hi Ash I'm trying to install sdd to activate my steering wheel after watching your blog. After trying to use it it comes up with it needs active x. What browser are you using please. Dave
Ah, you need to use Internet Explorer, or at least load the page in Internet Explorer Compatibility Mode, you can do this in Microsoft Edge, click on the drop down menu at the top right hand side and select Run In Internet Explorer Mode, or something like that
Hi Dave, you need to modify the CCF file which can be done using the functions menu. I can't think off the top of my head which one it is but you'll need to be running in Internet Explorer Compatibility mode with service mode unlocked in the SDD software, and don't forget to connect a battery support unit.
@@AshRowland what battery support unit are you using? I want to add AHB as well as the heated steering. Already have the mirror, just need to wire in two wires and then program it in.
I normally just borrow the industrial one from my mate's garage to be honest, but if you search online for a 50a battery support unit you should be able to find one.
Great video but I have to say 'I hate you!' Obviously, I don't really but l, you have given me the idea but, can I find a heated steering wheel anywhere other than for an X260 or an XJ? Nope, I need one for an X250 2012 model!! I have found the module, just not the steering wheel! Oh well, the search continues!
I'm not gonna lie, it took me a while to find one... go on eBay and type in XF steering wheel. Then from the 500 odd results look at the photos and find one with the correct switch version on the front and the metal rings for the heated element on the back. Thats how I found mine, it came from America and took about a month to turn up. Well worth it though!
@@AshRowland Exactly what I am currently doing! Might have found one but it looks grey in the photo so I have just asked the seller to confirm the colour! I will keep searching and do this upgrade if it kills me!
Just wanted to say thanks for a great video. Leaving in the mistakes with comments about what to avoid makes it even more useful! Thanks, fella.
No problem, glad it was useful

@@benm4903 have you tried to pry it off with a screwdriver or something like that? I'll have a look at mine tomorrow 👍

I wonder if it maybe a good idea to do a tutorial on how to program power windows and heated steering wheel on the jar sdd software?? Just a thought!!
I've thought about doing this but I'm worried people won't use an approved battery backup power supply and completely kill their cars lol

Sir, any chance you still have the laptop and can I pay you a fee to plug in and activate my heated steering wheel?
Great Job 👍🏼
Thanks! 👍

Mmm... sorry buddy, I'm not sure, thats all I changed on mine
Hi.
What version of SDD do you use?
Can you explain how to get in to where the changes can be made?
The best place to ask is the Jaguar forums, its been a while since I used the software to be honest
I think it would be good.
👍
Have you got the part number for the heated steering wheel please? I can’t find it!

If you search for "how to use CCF Editor in SDD" on RUclips, you'll find a really useful video :)

You just flick the metal clip with a little flat head.
