Love this!! I live in the United States and "Cool Hand Luke" was certainly part of our ABC stations' themes. But in earlier years, it was another theme - look up "007 Theme" by composer John Barry. Great report!!!
BBC went way lateral in 1998, breaking with all the stereotypes to try out dance music. And over the next decade or two, you could see other UK networks, then other countries, following suit.
Ask the likes of Roland, Trioli or O'Brien and the will tell you the trumpeting news theme music is to herald their pending appearance on our TV screens. They conduct themselves like celebrities and the content is just commentary, people really just tune in to see them perform. I can't bring myself to watch ABC24 until noon when the news really starts. Thank you Fauziah Ibrahim, Roz Childs and Tamara Oudyn for your news reading. I wish ABC would screen it's breakfast program on ABC alone and leave News24 for the news. If that happened, ratings for the morning show would plummet. No doubt this sincere yet long winded rant will be censored by the ABC gestapo.
this is very specific to an interest of mine (news themes of Australia) so am I glad this video exists
There’s nothing like the BBC breaking news head bopping beat
Eyewitness news and nbc are my favorite

2:08 is by far and away the best theme. Why the abc changed it and ruined everything is beyond me.
Great video. Didn't know the Cool Hand Luke connection.
Where's the Pendulum Remix?
Not really relevant since the 2010 and 2017 versions start from a different theme. Pendulum matches the 1990s and 2005 theme only.
Check out the WHDH 7 News Boston theme for News at Noon
british new wabe band opened with a "teletype sound by a musical instrument in the mix.
Stephen Arnold and Frank Gari
Very good job
BBC News: 🅱️EEP
Fact: Nine Network is pretending to be ABC in America. Either from the theme nor the look
Anyway, Anyone wants to compose a news theme out of Rickroll?
