    This is probably the best explanation regarding the issue of emotional eating I have ever heard. It makes so much sense. Now I can keep the Barbarians at the door out with some better organizing, and diligence.

    I'm very happy Dr. Lisle finally touched on the issue of eating disorders.
    History: 20 years anorexic, ate what i thought was healthy to gain weight and gain energy. I knew nothing. Of course i got about 20 pounds overweight, got even worse pain, energy and mobility issues, quickly realized my mistake and went on a quest for a healthy diet i could maintain. Found Dr. McDougall. Lost it all again quickly.
    My biggest problem at the moment is, i think i'm losing too much weight again and it's mainly caused by not getting enough callories because i basically hate eating... with a passion. If i could take a pill and never have to eat again, i would take it. The more plant based type of things not being very palatable, isn't helping. I'm wondering what could be considered safe to add to my diet to give me just that little bit more callories to not fall into the same trap again. Starve and go for the fastfood. I know it is mainly geared towards losing weight lately. I just want to maintain a healthy diet to keep myself in good shape with enough energy because one thing never changed, i hate eating. I do 'graze' a lot of raw veg in my vegetable garden during the day.
    I just can't get it down, or not enough anyway. Currently sitting here with a marvellous potato/zuccini/shitake/miso soup...like... excellent. But bleeh.... I take about an hour for every meal, not including prep. I just sit there staring at it, heat it up at least twice and force it down. Must be something wonky in the psyche going on. It's not crappy cooking by the way. cooked the same thing for my neighbor last week and she was quick to stuff the leftovers in her freezer. She had a blob of soup on her cheek the next day, saw that! Got her to try vegan things and she likes it! Win win win! 80 years old ;) Cooked her a 3 course meal fit for a queen. She didn't 'miss anything'. First she said she wanted to bake an egg or a sausage to go with it. "You know... i might not like it, is it ok if i shove it aside if i don't? Are there weird things in there? ...or i get hungry! No fat? what? None? Not even cheese in the whole thing? No cream... ok... What's this? vegan yoghurt? noooo... this IS yoghurt... right? fresh blueberries and raspberries... fancy" She left half her dessert... for later, with a hand on her struggling full stomach. Haha! The next day she mentioned eating a vegan burger instead of meat. What? ;)

      Food is really basic. You love salt, sugar, water, and some spices.
      Use sugar, add sugar to your oats add 100g 200g however much is tasty to you, use organic sugar.
      Salt is risky and bulks you up becaide it makes your muscle attract more water.
      I really don't know why you hate eating so much, get some fruit in your system. Starch and complex carbs are great but high quality fruit is the best thing ever

    Dr. Lisle just gave me the answer to my problem. I'm that woman who is eating an all plant based diet, no junk food or oil, but am still 20lbs overweight. I think I've been eating too much cooked food. Breakfast is porridge with fruit, lunch is potatoes with cooked veggies, and dinner is rice with stir-fried vegetables. Initially I lost weight, but now am stuck at my current weight. I will try eating raw food for breakfast and lunch, then cooked starches only at dinner.

      Just skip breakfast & eat brunch & dinner. I lost more weight this way.
      I also lost another 12 pounds by getting all flour products out of my diet!

    Someone should tell Dr. Lisle that i for example eat pass the point of satitation no matter what i eat, 2 months no overt fats, vegan, enough calories, no junk food. Did good till i started to get frustrated with life in general and what did i do, i started to binge, cause i cope with food. What now?

    • @feelingoffbalance
      @feelingoffbalance 8 лет назад +1

      Same here, I just stuff my face with a mountain of patatoes. So what I am doing now is reducing starches and upping veg and tofu/beans as well as adding small amounts of over fat. I have noticed that when I have introduced some fat (1 teaspoonful per meal) I feel more satiated with a smaller portion of food.

      See the McDougall info here facebook.com/Reversing-disease-losing-weight-with-sugar-1613596555531276/
      See if you need treatment for possible h-pylori infection also. Aside from lack of appetite (low B12 caused by the h-pylori - research B12deficiency.info before action) it can cause a gnawing sensation in the stomach which is relieved by eating.

  • @LindseyDara
    @LindseyDara 7 лет назад +2

    I tried to eat a lot of starches and no nuts or avocados. I thought I had found what I needed was the starch type diet. I had been vegan before but included lots of nuts. When I tried to go without nuts or avos, I found myself like feeling hypoglycemic and starving for more food. I have been eating lots of peanut butter and when I try to stop eating it, no matter if I'm eating WFPB starchy with beans and veggies, I can be physically full but still feel starving almost. It is do strange. Can't focus, and low energy. So people say that women need more fat than men. Is that true? Or why am I feeling hungry after eating healthy food? It's gotten so bad, that I wake up hungry at night. I don't know if I need to eat more fat, or am I just suppose to push through?

    • @lh2481

      Lindsey LaVida I've tried everything and while I love Dr McDougall I would go insane without at least 30% fat in my diet. My hair falls out, I get low blood sugar, always starving. Listen to your body

    • @Tam438
      @Tam438 6 лет назад +1

      Sounds like blood sugar issues/ insulin resistance to me...have you thought about trying the low fat raw vegan or 80 10 10 diet? Some people really don't do well on starches...you need to eat lots of greens with the fruit on the raw diet, it works! Good luck, I understand your frustrations!

    • @lf8238

  • @salbers

    Dr Lisle is very enlightening in pointing out that daily water variation misleads dieters. +5 pounds per day can be attributed arbitrary weight variant from retained fluids and solids. He needs to supply a tool for filtering out these confusing variations. The Trend Weight Indicator does this.

    • @NLR759
      @NLR759 6 лет назад

      Also eliminating salt (or greatly reducing) makes the amount of water in your body very stable. Also if you weigh yourself first thing in the morning, after emptying the bladder. I found by doing this, my weight does not fluctuate unless I have actually lost fat.

      +Solitary Reaper Better eat bananas alone as a special meal (6 are ok) not too much because too much simple sugars they will come as pimples to your face also fruit combining with starches = fermentation and gas.

    • @SolitaryReaper666
      @SolitaryReaper666 8 лет назад +1

      is this a joke or do you really believe this? fruit is the most underconsumed food in the usa. Nobody should ever worry about simple sugars in fruit, they are perfectly balanced by the fiber. As to food combining, it's unscientific nonsense and has not been confirmed.

    What if i have been following Mc.dougals weight loss plan to the core for the past 2 months and 2 weeks and i maybe have lost 3lbs since and I've cut out all oils, fats, plant fats, sugar, and salt since then and my weight doesn't want to seem to drop much or at all what could be the reason? Previously the past year i tried eating a fruit diet and cooked meals at night but in large portions and i gained 10lbs within the course of that year. Now i am hoping the starch solution will help me like it has for every one else, but can i get advice on what i am doing wrong?... Right now i have about 2-3med potatoes + 2 small potatoes along side steamed mixed carrots, corn and peas and a med bowl of Kale, Spinach for 3 meals a day for the last month and im still stuck at my current weight. Im 5'3 weighing 156lbs, and i want to lose 35-40lbs to be at my healthiest weight. Please help.

    Does weight lifting help losing fat and activating metabolism?

    • @velo1337
      @velo1337 8 лет назад

      +Random Thoughts your body is designed to move (a lot)... the word activating metabolism is just another word for burning calories. studies have shown that up to 90 minutes of exercise per day is good for you (there arent any studies over 2 hrs since nobody yet was willing to do so)

    • @randomthoughts5870
      @randomthoughts5870 8 лет назад

      very interesting. I read the same thing you are talking about in Greger's book. My question was poorly formulated. What I really wanted to ask is this. Would it be better for those who have a hard time losing weight (assuming that they are following a plant based diet) to lift light weights instead of doing aerobics? Maybe they can begin to accumulate muscle-capital in order to burn more fat. But thanks for your comment.

    • @randomthoughts5870

    • @randomthoughts5870
      @randomthoughts5870 8 лет назад

      Thanks again! Personally, I don't enjoy calisthenics or any other form of strength training. So I will just lift light weights in machines with lots and lots of repetitions. Just to create some muscle.

I am trying intermittent fasting. Monday, Wednesday, Friday, I do a water fast. I will try adding exercise on the days I eat also.
