Ellen, you bear such a strong resemblance to your Dad. This song was afavorite of mine when I was just 13. RIP ruclips.net/video/fBTT3VPriV8/видео.html
That is so very cool. You and your family will always have a piece of rock history to call your own thanks to your dad. And with artists like Tom Petty and others covering this song, his music will live on.
Absolutely!! I really can't think of who else would and could take on that 1966 piece of rock gold. It was GROUNDBREAKING!! When I heard it on radio, I was 11 years old and a I'd never heard anything like it! All I wanted to do was MOVE!! We were 60's music freaks from moment of British Invasion!
Make sure you give respect as well to Stan Lynch his vocals are absolutely Wicked!❤️🔥 I think the song is even better. They definitely did it justice!
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers proving beyond a doubt that they are the world's greatest rock and roll cover band. Whenever they perform another artist's song in concert they always give us the definitive live version.
andyinoregon Having heard this repetitiously upon its release in 67?, it's hard to say as I listen to this now, that a band could stay so close to the original, and not be the playing their own song. They slayed a few Dylan tunes and went flying off with Roger mcGuinn on one of his original post Byrd tunes too around the time of this concert,,,I think. Too high to recall,,,,,,, Just damn good music.
Tom Petty & Heartbreakers did justice to any song they put out. Love & miss them RIP Tom Petty one of thee greatest song writer & guitarist of all time.
a man of vision i carnt sing dance or play the drums they scarce to loud thank u jesus he is one of ours i was wrong but we just forgive each other prase jesus
This is so great! I remember how much I loved Psychotic Reaction by the Count Five back in 1966. It was pretty radical to hear on A.M. radio way back then. Tom Petty is pretty entertaining introducing the song. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers were so great!
I was 10 years old in ‘66 - this was a big hit back then. In those days we would buy 45s, or if we had a lot of money we’d buy the LP. One thing that is missed from that era is the liner notes and fotos inside the album. Great to see Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers play this beautiful composition.
When this song came out ,it was the US answer the Yardbirds I’m a man. I was in eight grade and was so knocked out by it ,then shortly came Spence Davis with steve winwood and Gimme some loving and then the show stopper Im a Man .Not the same song but a killer version every radio and dance played with the killer Hammond B3 sound ! Music was in such good form then !
A psychedelic dragon!!LMFAO I love it and the Psychedelic harmonica love my Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers!... wonder where he came up with this??🤣🤣 I've never seen this before and cannot stop laughing!!
They were really on point with this song down to the last note tom was having a blast performing to this its was almost nostalgic to the point that they put themselves. Back in time and place to perform this song and they nailed it and had a blast doin so
Teresa here from Omaha Ne Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers are the soundtrack of so many of our life's. Still missing them in 2024. Don't forget on Sunday 10/ 20 Tom Petty would have been 74. LET'S wish Tom a very happy birthday 🎉. There will Never be such a greai band. Rip Tom.
I was an elementary school kid when “Psychotic Reaction” came out. I liked it even though I had no idea what the lyrics were. I had a low-fi AM radio, ha-ha!
Oh my gosh ! They totally pulled this one off ! So Amazing ! Thats a 60's tune ! I love this one so much more ! The Drums and the Harmonica ! Thank you ill love you you forever !🎸🥁🎶
Just saw the original on a live tv show performance 2 days ago. The 60's were crossing into bizarre and cool-effective psychedelic guitar/amp effects. The guitarist had his fingers way past the frets for an effect and then the lyrics, harmonica, etc.
This was so much fun to watch. On the 40th anniversary tour they didn't do any covers, at least not the night I saw them. I always loved the covers they did. PS, saw them 6 times over the years.
Love it!! I won a dance contest to this back (by the Count Five) in the 60's..Great job Tom Petty's band did with this. First time I saw their version.🤪
Rip Tom petty, I did see them live in the cuse , upstate new york, they played for the fans their entire career, have to hand it to RUclips they have every song you can think of, I remember the count 5 s hit psychotic reaction as a boy and I just used it as a comment for a channel, do you remember, it's been decades, it just proves music is timeless , great tribute to the original hit , new york

I remember the first time I heard this song by the Five Count. I bought this CD called garage rock. Like this song, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, they do a good too. Think they do the justice. Like both versions.
John Byrne singer and song writer of Psychotic Reaction for the Count five in 1966. Love and miss you Dad!

Would love to see the pictures.

I'd never heard anything like it! All I wanted to do was MOVE!! We were 60's music freaks from moment of British Invasion!
Not really. Not really good at all. Particularly the drummer. His vocals were OK.
Make sure you give respect as well to Stan Lynch his vocals are absolutely Wicked!❤️🔥 I think the song is even better. They definitely did it justice!
Not only could he sing, Stan was one heck of a drummer!
Still is…
He didnt have the chops to explode out of the instrumental break like the drummer in the original. SORRY
Stan Lynch had a bit of an inflated ego imo
Did you listen to any of his interviews, I mean you do like his name.😅 No offence
What a great tribute. I've never heard or seen another band do that song . I saw The Count Five as a teenager
The Cramps did it!
Marty Stuart did this a few years ago in California. Video on you tube. A good cover.
Look at the Cramps
There should be more than a generic LIKE button for a performance like this! Love this
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers proving beyond a doubt that they are the world's greatest rock and roll cover band. Whenever they perform another artist's song in concert they always give us the definitive live version.
You said it andy. Bliss.
andyinoregon damn right!! This one rocks!!!

Totally agree
@@spydarebel you kinda nutsy yah
Still love this video every time I see it!😂❤ and damn Stan Lynch can sing!
Of course every true Tom Petty Heartbreaker fan knows this!😊
What a great band. Gone too soon. Mike Campbell is the most underrated guitarist in rock.
Underrated is the most overrated comment on RUclips.
@@billnaylor518 Underrated comment.
@@meadish Yeah, I'm not bothering to rate it.
What rubbish. Mike Campbell is a musician's musician.
He’s frickin amazing…love his new band MC and the Dirty Knobs
The Heartbreakers ft. Tom Petty on harmonica!!
Tightest band ever!

I did not know this existed until today. What a discovery! Thank you.
The world will miss you, Tom Petty. Rock Legend and musical genius. The nicest man I ever met back in 1990.
Never knew Petty's stage show was so elaborate. Never saw him live. Good rendition of Count Five tune.
He was awesome in concert!
This tour was the only time he did something this. It was amazing.
@@jonasbassock1864 Yeah, I saw TP & the HB's 5 times including this one, this was easily the best show.

They were really on point with this song down to the last note tom was having a blast performing to this its was almost nostalgic to the point that they put themselves. Back in time and place to perform this song and they nailed it and had a blast doin so
I was around to hear Count 5 play Psychotic Reaction and have adult sons who got Tom Petty's version. Now that's family history!
OMG - they look like they are having more fun than the audience!! So awesome! I thought I heard ALL their songs and covers- love their energy!!
The best "Cover" of the "Count Five Classic! Caught Tom in a Rare Moment"!!!!!Excellent!
Damn this is outstanding 👏 I love this song and Tom Petty and the band just kicked some ass
Stan Lynch, great voice and drummer! This band can not be beat. Ty Tom. rip
The original drummer for the Count Five, Craig Atkinson, passed away in '98 and at the time was a Delta Air Line Captain.

I've always loved the original version of this song, but Tom, Stan, and Mike kicked ass with their version. ❤
I like TP and the HB better…and they have so much fun. Does Mike Campbell kick ass or what???

I absolutely LOVE how they perform this song!! : )
That’s what I call rock n roll. Rip Tom
Love petty's presentation before starting the song. Great song to cover. Petty's original stuff is legend. RIP bud.
Great cover, R.I.P. Tom Petty.
Mike Campbell so grossly underrated in the annals of rock n roll guitar.
Totally knocked it out of the park! As a brother harmonica player enjoyed his playing too.

Doesn't get any better than this.
Petty was underrated asf,man i wish i could have seen him. But I've seen the who and the stones. But i love toms music, he was awesome
This is awesome and does justice to this song .
This is a great spin-off of many mid sixties recordings that were pursuing a lot of the same ideas. These songs get me revved!
What a great version. I can't believe that so few people have taken a listen.
Vocal was perfect. Yes, they have it go`n on!
Always love to hear Stan at the helm. Greatest Rock & Roll drummer ever!! Thank you for this tbengard13
That was AMAZING !!!! 😊

Nicely done reboot. A nod to a very good song from the 60's
I miss you Tom
Excellent version of this song!!!!
Great cover, Love the intro.

@ Well, ol Jimma did do one good thing as president when he deregulated the airlines.
The rhythm guitar in this song was always the main thing to me. Count Five comes alive in this great TP & the H’s cover and vocal by Stan Lynch.
