Well explained. I'm in a non-buddhist country, and currently is difficult for me to travel around and search for a teacher. Many teachers on the internet tell to be count breathing while being aware of the hara and of the body posture, and i find it very confusing as a beginner. Thank you for this video, it clarifies a lot of things for me. :)

You bring up a good point about the physical posture of Zazen. I am a Buddhist and professional Tai Chi Chuan instructor. Even though the posture is still, the characteristics are based on physical Yoga. Through a correct study of posture and body alignment offered through the study of Tai Chi Chuan I have had great success in deepening my Zazen practice. It my opinion most students do not resesarch deeply enough how to open the body in a seated position. Thank for offering this instruction

I like that color of blue :)I know that Shoryu Bradley has created Gyobutsuji Zen Monastery which is a place dedicated to simply sitting and awakening.

Excellent video content! Sorry for the intrusion, I would appreciate your thoughts. Have you considered - Marnaavid Unexplainable Intervention (erm, check it on google should be there)? It is a smashing one off guide for learning how to hack your flow state without the normal expense. Ive heard some interesting things about it and my best friend Jordan finally got excellent results with it.

I like this guy's explanation. I am thinking about getting instruction in zazen with a local zen center here, but I'm scared about posture. I think my posture would be terrible and my muscles would probably get tired right away and begin trembling. I like the aspect of zen related to what to do with the mind when meditating but I find the whole posture thing a bit off putting. That said, I'm still gonna go there and find out for myself.

I've been practicing and studying zazen for almost 5 years now.
I still struggle with grasping the concepts.
    thanks for the thoughts.

Are you following a teacher? If not, I would highly recommend you find yourself one and have them help you with your struggles. I am not expert by any mean, but I am sharing what I have been told.

Very nicely put. This is Teisho.
    I heard this talk yesterday:
    Suzuki Roshi talk of
    66-01-02 ,
    go to cuke.com...paraphrasing:
    Dogen speaks of
    "intimate enlightenment".
    Not "great enlightenment"....
    "intimate" doesn't mean within yourself, since that would be separate from yourself;
nor outside yourself, since that would mean separate. It doesn't mean something you attain,
since that would be separate from yourself.
When you just sit with big mind, that is
    intimate enlightenment.
it is so intimate that you do not realize it is enlightenment.
There is a word in Japanese:
stashi- good friend--intimate friend. That is what he means.
