When I was 16 years old I read Zen Mind Beginner's Mind, and it changed my life. Thank you for sharing this peek into the mind of such a wonderful teacher!
Thanks for sharing this. I've been reading his book over and over and never saw his face or heart his voice. He just makes me laugh, such a peacefull wise little man. Greetings from Argentina.
Very poignant. Seeing my old temple where I stayed '72-74. I only heard a couple of his talks in 1971. He was dying of cancer at the time but as a new student I didn't know it. Thanks to my ZCSF dharma brothers and sisters who posted this.
This is to share & remind all that the World & its people have a long journey to move forward besides all the technological advances that only serves temporarily in our lives & of which is not permanent.
Fascinating to know Meiji was so antagonistic towards Buddhism whole promoting Shinto as part of its fascist-nationalism. Similar thing happened in China in the past, makes perfect sense.
The idea of a soul is a form of delusion, what the Buddha referred to as the delusion of eternalism. There is no separate, eternal, fixed self. Seeing that clearly is at the core of waking up.

I know people who want to learn and do Zazen practice. But are too afraid of what might happen.
One of the greatest teachers of Zen. His book opened me up to Zen and had helped better my life. Thanks for sharing these important talks.

When you bow at the gate you think there is something ''different '' to bow to.
Has he been concerned with the matter of the individual soul having a purpose in life? I am trying to figure out all these things and it takes time!

I wouldn’t mind being disturbed by Bridget and Bridget coming right if you know what I mean
Beginner's Mind is engaging attention like a beginner paying attention, thus deactivating the Default Mode Network . This leads to Samadhi and Jhana.
