First!
From the one and only!
.
It is so beautiful. You make it look too easy. I’m not crazy about the pulls. However, I have no suggestions. Thy just remind me of some old wooden filing cabinet in a dingy factory office. The piece is too beautiful for that. Thank you for sharing.

The nightstand looks great! I'll say it for the hundredth time... You have proven that you do not need expensive boutique brand paints to get a high quality finish on furniture.
Thanks!! You got that right! Some of those prices are just outrageous...
Just check with them, for a 2k.thing they will ask at least 40-50k, extracting charges of RUclips, model even their office AC bills
I never thought of lacquer over a dark paint color. Thanks for that. The table looks better with the update.
Thanks!
You got a very nice finish on there. Black glossy handles do show up on the black but SATIN finished wood. I probably would have used some brushed silver/stainless steel handles of the same shape just for increased pop, but the black on black is a more masculine look. Nice job all around.
Love this makeover.
Wow. I absolutely love that.
Thanks Heather :)
wow! great transformation.. looks really classy.
Thank you!! glad you liked it
Pretty finish. Very professional look.

Wow!! Nice work!! Admire the outcome also how thorough you are doing the job!!!
Thank you Joanne :)
Super clean. Looks like a totally different piece.
The nightstand looks great! I might have gone with a contrasting handle in chrome, maybe, but the black handles look really good.

This was very timely! I have two bedside tables which I had previously painted black, but am planning to re-paint as the paint has chipped. This time I will sand between coats.
Yes, sanding will help the paint adhere better to each surface, reducing the chance of it chipping off. Plus it makes a pro smooth finish. To prevent chipping in the paint apply multiple thin layers of a topcoat finish, 3-4 or more for ultimate durability. I use lacquer but it's pretty toxic so be careful of that. There are other choices to use such as various polys, they are popular. Spray on topcoats in spray cans are easy because you don't have to worry about getting it into each crack with a brush or rag. But you need to make sure you apply many coats. Good luck!
Yes all your tips will help me do a better job, thank you.
It beautiful and you make the job easy to do.

Think I’ll be going by goodwill to looks for a night stand...
Whenever I find a nightstand at a thrift store I just want to paint it black now! LOL So easy but so classy looking.
Your "After" looks a zillion times better than the "Before." 👍
Thank you!!
@@FurnitureFlippa Well, I was just stating the obvious! LOL!!!
No kidding....You did a fantastic job, and your result is stunning!
Just keepin' it 💯!!!
Beautiful! Black furniture is my favorite!
❤
That looks so good !! I wanted to paint mine so you know about how much everything was all together?
Looks great! I want to paint my bed black do you think I can use this method?
Nice video. Two clues to your location. The "odour" warning on the paint and your pronunciation of "out." I've loved my trips to Canada.
👍👍👍
Definitely have been thinking about retouching a coffee table and a night stand in black. Any suggestion on how much paint/lacquer?
Also the night stand has a wood on wood slides on both sides of each of the two drawers. One side of one of the drawers has worn sot hat it sits a bit uneven. Is there a cheap, easy, and quick way to fix that? Like the wood that the drawer slots over is fine, but where the weight of the drawer is held it has worn.
A quart of paint would be plenty for a coffee table! For a topcoat, you can use lacquer, but you can also use furniture wax or water-based polyurethane. If using a spray can I would say 2 minimum and for wax, you'd have to buy the typical size can which lasts for a very long time.
The drawers you can add wax to see if they slide better or you may need to replace the slider, which starts to get into some woodworking more than painting/refinishing haha good luck!
WELL DONE 🤗😉😷🌏🌎🌍BE SAFE BE WELL
Thanks Vanessa!
Looks very professional 👌!!@
Thanks Angela!!
I have watched a few videos and I love the care you take in refinishing the projects! Impressive. How much would that flip for?
Thank you! I sold this piece for $135
Mineral spirits coats, it does not clean your surfaces. You need to use even dawn dish soap at minimum with a quick clean water damp cloth rinse. …Every step matters. But cleaning most of all. Though better cleaning products would be better. If you use TSP then mineral spirits will neutralize the cleaner, though I do TSP, clean water wipe down, then mineral spirits.
The term, “Well begun is half done!” Comes to mind. Looks great at the end though. Well done.
Ok so your just painting on wood but jeez it's gotta be said, you do a damn fine job of it, and with sanding sheets too, EVERYBODY HATES SANDING but outcome is absolutely perfect. Gotta a new subscriber..👍👍🧑🎨🧑🎨
well thank you very much!
What’s the mineral thing you’re using with the cloth? I didn’t see it listed in the links… thanks!! Great video!
How easily you painted your drawer. I am currently repainting my window from blue to white. I applied the paint without sanding first as i didnt have equipments or sand paper. Done 2 coats still looks messy.
Hi. Love the paint job. What paint brush did you use?
Do you sand between coats of the lacquer?
How are there no brush strokes showing? Looks great.
Thank you for this video, how long did you let it dry?
Can I do this with kitchen cabinets too?
Curious as to why you didn't use a sealer before painting?
Like the names and where did u get it from
How much time do you wait in between coats to sand then paint again?
When we sprayed the lacquer, it did not dry fast and seemed white. I did this spray outside so do you think that there was dirt from outside? Windy? I wiped it down and took it in to dry but I think it dried quickly and smeary. I waited 30 minutes between sprays. Please let me know.
Hi
Thank you 🙏
But can you list all the materials you used please
How did you get your satin finish so consistent? I'm having a hell of a time variations in the finish.
Hi firstly thank for your detailed video
I like the transformation
What product should be used for black stain?
And can we use the same process for staining ?
You can get classic black woodstain or ebony. When staining you don't have to sand after applying stain. Same process with the finish!
whats were you doing before the painting? Removing the brown paint?
what did you use to hold the furniture up?
I’m restoring an old antique trunk. The piece is so beat up it’s almost not worth restoring but it’s got sentimental value. My plan is to use 60 grit light sand. Clean. 150 grit light sand. Clean. 220 grit light sand. Clean. Primer. 220 grit sand clean. Primer. 220 grit sand and clean. Bottom layer black not sure which want glossy clean smooth mirror Finish. So 1st paint layer. Sand with 600 clean. 2nd layer of paint. Light sand something between 600 thousand. Light sand clean. 3rd layer black paint. 1000 grit sand clean. Poly coat for finsish sand 1200 clean. Poly coat 1200 sand clean. Poly coat done. I’ll have a white stencil to cover trunk In white that will go on after black base and finish is complete. I’ll probably follow similar steps with white stencil part. It doesn’t need primer again right? Also once I get to plug steps ills wet sand in between layers. White stencil art will be less of a high gloss finish as I want the look at more flat where the Louis Vuitton monogram will be painted on. It’s just going over the black paint. Or do I leave the poly coats off till the pattern is placed on the do the finishing coats once the stencil has been added? It’s my first project so if you could help me with my plan that would be great
Can you please tell me the first kind of sand paper to use?
Yeah I did the same thing to a cheap 3 drawer dresser I had a couple of years ago. Sanded it, painted it and waited a couple days before I started using it again but I noticed whenever I would set anything on it and picked it back up the object would stick to the dresser. Not only that if I ran my thumbnail over it the paint would just peel up, so my question is how well has yours lasted since you put a clear coat on it?
I sell my pieces so I don't always see the longer term results. However, I follow proper practices to prevent such damages in the future. If the surface is not cleaned from all grease it is likely to chip and peel off faster. Sanding and prep work is needed when painting furniture for long-lasting results. Also, cheaper paints peel off furniture easier too.
Adding multiple clear coats over paint definitely help it last longer, but only if it has been prepped, sanded, primed properly. The clear coat will reduce that sticky feel to paint and help prevent chips and peels.
If you are having these issues, first try degreasing using a degreasing product like Krud Kutter, then make sure to sand until no more glossy areas. Then use a primer, spray or use shellac-based BIN primer. Choose a furniture paint, I like Fusion MIneral Paint. These steps you should help you get a strong painted piece! Good luck
@@FurnitureFlippa wow, I wasn’t expecting such a long reply! I appreciate the help dude, I’ve got another dresser/nightstand to do so I’ll use your advice.
Can I ask how many cans of laquar it took for one of these . I’m planning on doing two bedside tables . Two side tables, and a dining room table.
omg amazing! where can I buy your stuff?!
