- The STJC Do a terrific job on King Oliver's West End Blues at the Spotted Cat on Frenchmen Street in New Orleans. In a city with countless Jazz clubs, the Spotted Cat is one of the best. With Music every night, usually 4 bands, from about 6:00 PM until 2:00 AM, this is a place not to be missed. The Smoking Time Jazz Club can be found most afternoons on Royal St., and often at night in the clubs. They also have 2 CD's available. Don't miss them. They are great! Recorded April 19, 2011.
Smoking Time is Sarah Peterson vocals, Christopher Johnson alto saxophone, Diesel Dan Ostreicher bass saxophone, Jack Pritchett trumpet, Colin Myers trombone, John Joyce bass, Jason King guitar, Mike Volker drums.
Fell asleep listening to this and dreamt I woke up back in New Orleans. Sat outside a cafe and had breakfast, walked around the french quarter. Watched people paint, play instruments, and at night saw the cats in the quarter, the freaks on bourbon, and France in America. Greatest city in the USA, hands down.

i been to new Orleans,this past march for Mardi gras and we didn't see them! Believe me if I had seen this stuff before we would have sought them out! they are freaking great! I've been sitting here listenening to these guys for an hour!

I really love the way these guys are playing and Sarah is singing. I have seen several video's playing on the streets and fortunately now Sarah was singing by microphone. Thanks for sharing this video and greetings from the Netherlands.

Is that alto sax player blind?
"West End Blues". Normally the introduction of this piece is made in the trumpet. I would have wanted to hear it by the trumpeter. Would he have equal Louis Armstrong's version in 1928 ? I have doubts !!!
