- Trails And Ales race, 31 December 2022, organised by Mad Bull Events. 7 miles, 1300 ft elevation addends Rivington Gardens, Pigeon Tower, Rivington Pike, Two Lads Hill.
Brilliant day to finish the year with. With pies, beer and life music at the pub after the race.

I love so much about this, the bagpipes, the scenery, the mud (I know, but just makes it more fun imo) and the fact that it’s on new years 😂🎉 so awesome Olga!! Great video!!
Great way to round off the year and set your sights on 2023. All that wonderful mud - the ground is so waterlogged at the moment. Good footage.
Waterlogged but that also means that all the streams and waterfalls are more prominent, which makes it more beautiful.

This was me today. Lazing around all day. After the race we also had a wild New Year's Party celebration until early hour in the morning. Have a wonderful new year too, David.

A new year's eve race is a such a great way to finish the year, congrats on taking part! It looked rather challenging, between the hills, the muddy patches and the gates! Looked like a great way to end the year. Roll on 2023 with more trail races. I’m looking forward to the muddy shoes race, it’s a great event.
When is Muddy Shoes on? Is it somewhere in the Forest of Bowland or Calder Vale?
@@OlgasBritishFells yes it’s in Caldervale trough of bowland near chipping. It’s on 4 February with 5 mile or 11 mile. Great race and there’s food at the finish.

@@OlgasBritishFells yes you can navigate or follow everyone else, that’s what a lot do. You do get a free map of the course and it’s easy to follow and there’s plenty marshals on route. It’s a fun race everyone says they enjoyed it.

I notice there are plenty of joggers out on the streets. New Years resolutions to go running? I wonder how many will keep it up?
It's always like this every year in the beginning of January. They set their resolutions and try to stick to them for a bit. I don't see the point of goals or resolutions. I just do whatever I feel like doing in life, why have a resolution for it. I never understood them.

Trails 'n' Ales. How come I haven't heard of this race yet? Think Ales THEN Trails would be more interesting though.
It's first time I've found out about this race too. I think it's only third time it's been held. About switching the order, I once did a Calderdale Way fell Relay Leg 3 and one year they were giving people free beer to drink while running past this family brewery.

Olga, do you know the definition of a gentleman.? It's someone who can play the bag pipes but doesn't.
I've looked it up. Oscar Wilde apparently said it as a joke. But I can't find any more detailed explanation as to what exactly he was referring to. Maybe I should research more into it and then make a video on my Book Quotes channel. (I couldn't even find anything on You Tube.) Thank you for introducing me to this saying.
@@OlgasBritishFells he meant the bag pipes are a wretched excuse for a musical instrument. I always think in Scotland there is a pipers mafia and an event of any sort cannot go ahead without employing one of them. I see they have spread to England and over here in Ireland too. Those samba bands are equally as annoying, just my view. I would nearly prefer the screaming hordes at the new York marathon and that's saying something. Down with that sort of ting as Ted and dougal might say. By the way I love your videos and you got this latest one up very quick. Have a great new year yourself and family and all at Preston harriers.
