- A tribute to this memorable gentleman. Originally from Mitsuteru Yokoyama's Mars manga where he goes unnamed, he later goes by Gil, Elint, and Shocking Alberto / Alberto the Impact.
The versions showcased are:
- Elint from Shinseikiden Mars (2002 to 2003)
- Gil from Mars (1994)
- Alberto the Impact from Giant Robo: The Animation (1992 to 1998)
Alberto appears again in Giant Robo: The Day the Earth Burned, a manga roughly inspired by Giant Robo: The Animation. Fans might also notice Ivan the Terrible and Old Man Kawarazaki's origins in Mars.

If he weren't forced to retreat after two turns, he could actually *kill* Sachiel. His strongest attack does just enough damage to break the AT Field, and Sachiel will always have a 0% hit chance no matter what.

Your friend has a good eye. Slayer is often believed to be inspired by Shocking Alberto as well as Silent Chujo from Giant Robo: The Animation.
It's especially obvious in the win animation where he teleports by walking into his cape, which matches Shocking Alberto entering Ko-Enshaku's cape; they even perform the same hand gesture.
Love the video, you should do more on the the origins of other Giant Robo characters, the only other place online I’ve seen that catalogs them all is the Japanese Wikipedia page for the OVA, which is very hard to read just using google translate.
That wouldn't be a bad project. A lot of the characters in Giant Robo are characters from Chinese history and folklore, so their names are in old Japanese approximations of Chinese names, which might make machine translation difficult. Wikipedia also lists characters who appear in other sources such as Newtype 100% Comics Giant Robo, The Day the Earth Burned, and the novelization of the OVA.

If they make another thing with Alberto in it i think they should let him do wuxia stuff no matter what. Like, even if the actual show isnt wuxia at all, he should still be able to run like a car and jump on helicopters and shoot lasers. I think it would enhance the viewing experience. It certainly ehnanced mine when i saw Giant Robo for the first time. I didnt expect an "evil ambassador" type character to pull stuff like that lol
