@@Lafv not completely American cities don't have huge interchanges inn the cbd they have ugly highways in trenches that the city is desperate to cover up we'll in Philadelphias case at least there trying to cover up the highways
Eric Horowitz yeah they’re trying to cover them up now, so that’s good. they still have a couple interchanges in Philly, but they’re not huge. but if you look at Los Angeles, or especially Dallas, they have highways and big interchanges all over downtown.
One idea for the interchange at downtown (though I admit it borrows for a city with notoriously gridlocked traffic) ... There's an interchange just north of downtown Los Angeles (*red flag*), where the 101 and 110 freeways intersect. It's immediately north of the Chandler Pavilion, when looking at Google Maps, at the northern edge of the main downtown skyline. There, where those two freeways intersect, there is a secondary/combined interchange providing access to Hope Street and N Grand Avenue, major entry points into the downtown core. In your city, it could work similarly, with the road you built in this episode coming off downtown/the IT cluster extended so it's flowing straight into the highway heading out of downtown (away/'north' from the waterfront, i.e., taking the place of the 110 in the LA example); the existing highway which comes from across the harbor tunnel would be in place of the 101 in the LA analogue. The secondary intersection might be especially helpful here (unlike in LA), too, by giving drivers yet another option to enter the growing downtown core of your city. Just a somewhat simpler, less-spaghetti-fied option, in case this proves a little unwieldy with the merging and diverging setup! I've had VERY mixed results. The downtown though is coming together spectacularly! Excited for the next one!
Hahaha hence the HEAVY use of caveats and strong suggestion of modifying the layout -- a template, not something to recreate or directly emulate. The same goes for my Bay Area-based equivalent (having driven through and hated both 101/110 and 80/880/580 up here, the merging nightmare at the Bay Bridge approach heading into San Francisco). I think the 101/110 basic layout might be a starting point -- if the ramps were moved further to the outside of the interchange, with much longer merge spans and much, much longer approaches (that is, people would have to turn off a few city blocks' worth of distance ahead of the interchange from all directions, so traffic doesn't pile up and switching lanes doesn't have to be as rushed) -- *might* work in James's city only because the traffic load would be so much lighter than in actual LA, but you *definitely* raise a good point about still-difficult navigability. It'd be tough no matter. And ... I think the cartoon people of CS are, somehow, actually far, far worse than real people in terms of their navigating abilities, after all, at least without really detailed lane management through mods. I'm still not convinced that what's been built by the end of EP 25 here would be much better, though it's almost certainly not much worse, either? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ We'll have to see until things are built out, which is usually when JT goes back and revises/improves major interchanges as it is haha. :o) Fingers crossed, in any case!
Maybe a idea ❓Can u build a island in the middle on the bay, only connected with the ferry, and build a national on the island. People will use (problably 😁😁) the ferry a bit more
Honestly, instead of a "welcome" sign at the beginning of the city there should be a sign that says "Good luck." It's pretty ominous, but I think everybody would understand once they'd see the roads :D
I really like the way you spread out the density and had a bunch of high-density housing to reflect what a city of that size should look like. Even more than Sedona perhaps, well done : )
Awesome, always get excited to see new stuff. I dub the interchange Spaghetti Junction but perhaps a Diverging Diamond Interchange could neaten up the highway area?
the military airport that just got unlocked looks interesting..no CS streamer has ever built one of that yet..perhaps you'll be the first one to do so..can you build one for us?
Please make the area between the housing in the new area and the highway a big park... It's literally calling out for it and would look amazing as a beginning to the downtown area. Also! Please make the downtown super super leisure and tourist based. The town is literally in a bay and irl it would be an AMAZING holiday destination! I see it so much more like that (especially with the zoo and monorail) than a real high density downtown.
Wow the city is getting on well. Great video James! Also I have a video suggestion if you don't mind, I think that you should play 'The Movie's ' again! I'm rewatching your old series and it's so much fun. Keep up the great work!
I'm glad I don't have to life in one of Flabalikis cities and use his Spagetti interchanges because it would be crazy confusing to orient on those, for sure a lot of trial an error required till you actually figure out the right turnoffs that actually lead to the places were you want to go :D …...
You should place the stadium in that area you just built, between the highway, the access road and the ramps. It's already loud anyway to put any buildings.
I feel you over engineered the byway, perhaps a tad redundant even after you add new connections for the downtown around it. Also if you don't have enough room to go over you can go under, small linking tunnels to get to the other-side of the road or even lowering the main highway itself to give your above roads more room and a bit sleeker look.
Not sure if this would work in Skylines, but maybe a park and ride near the a highway entrance area? Have a parking lot a shuttle bus to into the CBD near a transit hub type of area.
James! Check 31:54 You already have another left line ramp and I'm thinking, there's easier way to make left line connecting, than what you actually did, the new ramp between all :D
that interchange looked nice before. now it looks like an absolute mess of urban planning that was created in the 60s and takes up way too much downtown real estate. can you just make a normal four way interchange?
Hey James. Have you ever thought about doing a City that is completely eco friendly ? (or, at least as eco friendly as a city can be in this game) I bet that it would be quite a challenge, especially at first =9
Big highway roundabouts is more better I think.. I don't really see a single roundabout in your city right now.. So it's time to build it for your highway
btw i’m good if you just end sedona now, it seems like you’ve kinda run out of things to do in it. can we just get a first person tour and ride all the train lines? that’d be sicc
two days in a row hell yes
When your interchange is the size of your CBD 👌👌
caitlin louise how to build an american city ^

Theres like a lonely house in the middle of all middle high rises in the new residential area, I suggest you change them to high density
I think you can add one of the water based landmark building near the globe, maybe even an opera house since it's a tourist area anyway.

but Flab's build is 3 expressway + 1 local road...

Driving in this city would be a nightmare
patriziapie if you have ever been to Atlanta Georgia the roads are like this
@@roxiejaye8982 never been and knowing this, I might never visit
Put the airport on a island and have a ferry and a monorail connections as a hub/ transfer
download a road sign that says good luck and put it at the entrance to the interchange.
The Globe is awesome
Just make that interchange a four-way flyover. They are the most efficient interchanges and quite aesthetic, and they aren't too confusing.
I love the art deco buildings, I think they add a lot of interest to the city without being too out of place. And it's a great style in general
Build a lake.
I think you should take the monorail to the downtown before there is no room.
Why don’t you make that intersection a diamond crossing or a big highway roundabout ? Looks a lot neater I think
tom se yeah a round about would be nice, it looks so shoddy atm
It actually looks good because it looks realistic because of how messy it is, especially the added on road, and it just flows nicely
You should have just made a cloverleaf interchange
Maybe a idea ❓Can u build a island in the middle on the bay, only connected with the ferry, and build a national on the island. People will use (problably 😁😁) the ferry a bit more

I like the Kathleen Street Interchange. It's unique and custom-built for this city. It's like adding a sprinkle on a donut!
I just litteraly done watching your video last day.. and then you just uploaded again.. im amaze 😂
Dapree LMAO me too
I really like the way you spread out the density and had a bunch of high-density housing to reflect what a city of that size should look like. Even more than Sedona perhaps, well done : )
I’m living for these regular uploads!

Hey guys! Flabaliki here today and welcome back to Spaghetti junctions!
18:42 the red car drives into oblivion
i already know it is gonna be good with a title like that :P
ikr

Tunnel! Tunnel! Tunnel! for the last connection at that massive interchange
Wow the city is getting on well. Great video James!
Also
I have a video suggestion if you don't mind, I think that you should play 'The Movie's ' again! I'm rewatching your old series and it's so much fun.
Keep up the great work!
Nice video again!! Love this series

Thanks for doing two in a row James!
I really liked the look of that downtown three way interchange before. Now it looks just so wonky and unrealistic imo
18:44 is it normal for cars to be off-roading like that lmao
Are you going to be doing planet coaster again
Park Life is really similar to Planet Coaster, just within Cities: Skylines.
Dam the waterfalls and make a nature reservation park around the artificial lake!!
My man coming in clutch with the vid
You should place the stadium in that area you just built, between the highway, the access road and the ramps. It's already loud anyway to put any buildings.
I couldn’t wait for this

Back to back episodes, FLABS IS BACK!
Please can you build the international airport in the next video ?
Since all the parks are named after Australian parks, it'd be fitting it have the opera house somewhere
You should put the Sydney Opera house near/in the CBD
Edit: and make a park/ botanical gardens behind it
Hail Vooperia!
clover shaped junction could be perfect
how do you find a blind man in a nude colony?
its not hard
You should use subways as the downtown public transportation
Not sure if this would work in Skylines, but maybe a park and ride near the a highway entrance area? Have a parking lot a shuttle bus to into the CBD near a transit hub type of area.
With a 4 way major highway interchange don't be so opposed to an underpass.
Good driver XDD
How about remake the interchange like the M3 Inner City Bypass & Clem7, Bowen Hills in Brisbane?
Two episodes in two days. I'm I dreaming?
I’m waiting for the airport!😄
You used the globe in the same way it is used in front of the old Trump Hotel in Columbus Circle
Hey James. Have you ever thought about doing a City that is completely eco friendly ? (or, at least as eco friendly as a city can be in this game) I bet that it would be quite a challenge, especially at first =9
good luck to google maps explaining that interchange
Please make a touristy beach along the front of the higher density area somewhat like magaluf or other touristy cities
James, I would so not want to ride on the roads you build. XD They seem complicated as hell looking at it from above.
Place a stadium in the middle of the cbd that should be awesome
Big highway roundabouts is more better I think.. I don't really see a single roundabout in your city right now.. So it's time to build it for your highway
Maybe you could add a University? That feels like a good step soon
Emily Conway he has a university on seven mile beach
TWO DAYS I A ROW!!!! SHELLL YES!! I love turtles! im subbed!!
I love it!
I don’t think the old buildings suit this city I think it would be nice if it was just modern buildings.
12:38 Flatearthers want to know your location.
This interchange looks like the one my city is building
I swear if I were driving on that interchange I would be confused af
you should exchange every bridge to roundabout
btw i’m good if you just end sedona now, it seems like you’ve kinda run out of things to do in it. can we just get a first person tour and ride all the train lines? that’d be sicc
You don't care about pillars, do you? Flyover segments are just hanging in mid air.
yeay
one of the wierdest episodes ever
You should get the Sydney opera house??
Kraken Interchange.
Guys, how do you change the Tweeter to look like flabalikis, or at least something other than the standard ones.
You should name a district alamaden or shadowbrook
You need to redo that interchange
add a metro in downtown area to airport
Chirpcoin: Buy the dip.
Why don’t you use roundabouts instead of spaghetti mess?
