    Recovery Dharma is a program that utilizes the principles and practices of Buddhism to help people recover and find freedom from the suffering of addiction. Recovery Dharma uses the Buddhist practices of meditation, self-inquiry, wisdom, compassion, and community as tools for recovery and healing. Recovery Dharma welcomes anyone who is looking to find freedom from suffering, whether it's caused by substance use or process addictions like codependency, sex, gambling, eating disorders, shopping, work, technology, or any obsessive or habitual pattern. Recovery Dharma approaches recovery from a place of individual and collective empowerment. For more information about Recovery Dharma, to locate local meetings in your area or online Recovery Dharma meetings, please go to their website 👉 recoverydharma.org.

      Recovery dharma is my main program. It reaches the parts of my life that always felt like something was "missing." I didnt fit into NA very well. RD has changed my view on addiction and recovery

      I've been working the Recovery Dharma program for over a year now and it is my main program in my sobriety. The program makes sense to me more than AA did. RD felt welcoming, serene and non-judgmental while helping me to investigate the reasons behind my addiction. I'm very thankful to this program and feel that if others are looking for alternatives to AA to explore Recovery Dharma for themselves and see if it may be a fit for them.

    RD offers mentors (like sponsors) as well as wise friends, people to reach out to for support. There are also a series of inquiry questions, which can be worked through on your own or with a mentor or wise friend. NA got me on track, but in a way that felt rigid, unyielding, and with something that was created by someone else for someone else. For me personally, the 12steps didnt work for me. Meditation is just observing, so if you're tapping your leg a bunch during meditation, just be aware of that. Be aware of what your shaking leg feels like when you take an in breath, or an out breath. Just being aware of the present moment is in itself meditation. Having the discipline to sit through uncomfortable meditations, helps me see that if I hang tight and don't just react toeverything, everything will eventually pass. Including urges and desires. Thanks for this video!

      Hi Elias - Thanks for the info. It will help many. I love RD and would like to attend more meetings at some point. I have had a similar experience to yours, but with AA. Thanks again for sharing your experience.

    I align fully with the Recovery Dharma belief system considering myself a Buddhist for some years. However I have found for myself that to stay sober I do need to integrate 12 step meetings as well in my recovery. Took me some time to integrate using both because they are different belief systems. Glad you said “in addition too.” I’m in to attend a meeting when you start a meeting. 🙏. Thank you KJ!

    Great videos Dr Foster thank you.. I have been in Recovery Dharma since 7-17, well at first it was Refuge Recovery. I do a study group on Tuesday morning and we use Kevin Griffin's Buddhism and the 12 Steps. But I still feel awkward in traditional AA. I am grateful and also I love AA Secular Recovery Group.

    Wow, thank you for sharing! I’ve never heard of this, but I find my beliefs align very closely with Buddhist beliefs and practices, so I’m definitely interested in this. I checked out meetings in my local area and luckily there are meetings close by on Friday! I will definitely be attending. Thanks again for sharing, I feel like this might be life changing as I have now decided to pursue recovery.

    • @DRKJFOSTER
      @DRKJFOSTER  3 года назад +1

      See previous answer. I recommended SMART, but Dharma is also one of my favorites. It just depends on your beliefs and what is readily available in terms of meetings, resources, etc. I know SMART has a lot of free resources and online meetings.
