Terry Jacks is a Canadian singer songwriter. He was part of the "Chessman" back in the 60's in my hometown of Vancouver B.C. Later Terry & his wife Susan formed "The Poppy Family". They had several hits in Canada & internationally. Their biggest was "Which Way You Goin' Billy?" Terry recorded "Seasons In The Sun" in 1973. He had some other songs such as "If You Go Away" & "Rock 'N' Roll (I Gave You the Best Years of My Life)". He wrote & recorded a number of other songs & went on to produce for many well known artists.

Did you know Terry. to me he was always so underrated. Another 2 greats songs to mention is Concrete Sea by Terry and Where Evil Grows the poppy Family.

Terry Jacks is Canadian and he was also in the group the Poppy Family. Africa check out the song Where Evil Grows. You will like it.

When I was a kid I used to get Terry Jacks "Seasons in the Sun" mixed up with "Hooked on a Feeling" by Blue Swede, perhaps because both songs were popular in the same year and the radio station my parents listened to played them back to back leaving me with the mistaken impression.

Off The Top Of My Head (???) ... A Childhood Friend Of Terry's Died Of Cancer (19 years Old???) .... He Told Terry That He Was Dying Before Telling His Own Sister And Father ... Which He Was About To Do ... Hence The Lyrics Of This Song ...

Think it's a cover of the Jacques Brel? It sounds French their text chanson song genre were musical ability isn't the piont - but whether you mean it. Yes a doomy lyric their culture is introverted not extrovert the home of the loners. Snobs in the Parisain village who despise the Anglo world! Remember laughing about this one years ago ( I was the black sheep of the family) 😂 Amsterdam / Gimme Danger was covered by Iggy and the Stooges on the greatest Rock Album of all time - Raw Power 1973. A song about paying for sex and a certain infection that's well known. Quite a few covers by others over the years.
