So in DnD there are metallic dragons (gold, silver, brass etc) and chromatic (blue, red, black, white and green). The metallic are generally the good ones (at least not actively eating people) and the chromatic pretty much see humanity as a buffet but are usually too self-centered and mistrusting to work together which why this is basically worst case scenario for Emon.
More to that, in the Exandrian pantheon, using the non WotC copyright names, exists the Platinum Dragon (Bahamet, lawful good) and the Mother of Dragons(Tiamat, Chaotic Evil). The platinum Dragon was on the same side as the Everlight and the Dawn Father when the gods fought.

Welcome to the Chroma Conclave arc. They are Vorugal the Frigid Doom (the white dragon with ice breath), Umbrasyl the Hope Devourer (the black dragon with acid breath), Raishan the Diseased Deceiver (the green dragon with poison breath), and Thordak the Cinder King (the giant red dragon with fire breath and a gem in his chest). Together with Brimscythe the Iron Storm (the blue dragon with lightning breath from the beginning of the show) they form the Chroma Conclave, an alliance of the 5 evil types of dragons in the world. Brimscythe was a young adult dragon, the other 4 are ancients. Dragons grow more and more powerful with age and these are among the most powerful beings in the entire world. The "Fabled Lance of Dragon Slaying" is a reference to a famous D&D campaign setting, as well as series of novels based on it, Dragonlance. Both Matt (Silas Briarwood/Umbrasyl - the acid dragon) and Liam (Vax/Vorugal - the ice dragon) are old school D&D fans, and love the Dragonlance series, so they included that as an homage. And the voice of the poison dragon, Raishan, is Cree Summer. She's best known these days for her huge library of voice work, but she got started as a regular on the 90's series, A Perfect World, which was a spin-off of the Cosby Show.

so yeah, Chroma Conclave. 4 dragons, all really old and thus big, scary, and powerful. used to be 5 with the blue dragon from the start of last season, but that one was clearly the weakest of the bunch. i saw someone joke once that Brimscythe was essentially the intern of the group, sent ahead to scout and weaken the defenses of the area before the big boys show up and steal the show. if you're ever having trouble telling apart which dragon is which, they are each different colors(though that's harder to see cause all the dark dramatic lighting) with different horns and wing shapes and stuff, but you can always tell who's doing what by their powers. we also heard each of their names at least once this episode. Vorugal is white, does ice and stuff. Raishan is green, did all that poisonous smoke (and thus killed Sovereign Uriel.) Umbrasyl is black, all of the acid melting things. Thordak is the big leader one. You mentioned you were happy the shop keep didn't get killed off. In the actual campaign, he almost died. If they'd gotten to him any later, he'd have actually died. I *think* Matt said he had a timer going and they had to get to him before it went off.
I know you'll see this late, but the green poison dragon is she/her. The others are he/him. (The white one may be a he/it? Unconfirmed, but referenced that way.)

4:07 lol girl don't even, he died in the campaign and he was white. Man's time was up. They just hired Khary so made Uriel black, (I'm not complaining).
5:05 I hate to be the "it's better in the manga" guy, but that bit is handled better in the live series. that's the Raven Queen, Matron Of Death.... basically, the Grim Reaper. the party had heard of her as 'Vesh', Kashaw's mate, back in episode 20 of the live stream, during the Trial Of The Take. *because* of that mission, is that the party *by now* should know about the Slayer's Take, the hunters guild of Vasselheim, which sends them to find the Deathwalker's Ward in the Sunken Tomb. Vax eventually gets the Ward and becomes a paladin of the Raven Queen. they're condensing a third of an arc that took place intercut with the Briarwoods arc during season 1. by the time of the dinner at Uriel's during season 1, when we meet the Briarwoods, they've already met Zahra and Kashaw, as well as Lyra, Thorbir, Vanessa and Mertin, all members of the Take, and also Lilith, Zahra's cousin, who shows up during the fight at the palace gardens, where Percy shoots the Briarwoods' servant. we'll meet the Take down the line from here. also, AT that fight in season 1, they should have Tyberius with them, but they cut the character from the story... and, back in episode 20, it is the half-party of Tyberius, Vax, Thorbir, Kashaw and Keyleth that accidentally burns the party's flying carpet during a failed roll, which they had been relying on up to that point, for tactical displacement. *from that fail* and loss of mobility, is that Vexahlia ends up getting the flying broom from Gern (a Dragonborn merchant) and becomes the long-range scout of the group. we'll get that broom here from Gilmore's shop instead of Gern. the other half-party (Vex, Percy, Lyra, Grog and Zahra) go to the mountains to fight Rimefang, an ice dragon, so *by this point* Vex should have an armor with cold resistance and some armor piercing arrows, and Grog should have the belt, but being unable to make it work. *AND* parallel to all of that, Pike is on her 'spiritual journey' via Skype, on and off the series, during much of the Briarwoods arc. also, I don't remember if it was at this point or further down the line, but Gilmore being rescued in bad shape out of Emon should feature Sherry, his shop assistant, and it's at that point that we see both his and her magic powers in combat, and Gilmore is still badass enough as he is then, to take down three armed thugs. Up until that point both of them had been rather unassuming. all of this to put you in context of how they're cutting and splicing things together.
Kashaw's mate Vesh was a different entity. A lesser dark deity but The Raven Queen was the one that appeared because they were in the tomb of her champion.
Just a note to you guys: Pay attention to the little girl with the vibrant green eyes Grog was talking to. Let’s just say she’s gonna be key in later events in season 2.
So Spoiler: The family of Uriel survives in the game. I hope they survive in the series. As did Alaura(The blonde elf mage) and Lady Kima(Red Headed Drawf woman with a hammer)
As someone who watched the live play version of this episode live... the voice direction is just bad. Matt somehow created 4 unique dragons with distinct voices that read as dragons in game. Half of the conclave sounds like just regular people. And they got top-notch VAs to fill those shoes, so it's gotta be a direction thing, but there is no belieable scale to the size of em. Think Benedict Cumberbatch as Smaug the voice fit the size and scope of the creature... the Conclave just.... falls flat (I also really don't like the animation they're using for the dragons and bigger creatures, but that's just a taste thing so it's not a real issue with the show, just adds to it being meh for me). And a good portion of VMs dialog just sounds like they're reading lines in a booth. It's better than S1, but still. ... at least they're starting to show Grog, Scanlan, and Vax as being more than just cardboard characters of their original personalities.
Yeah, I agree they should have made the dragons voices a little bit deeper and slower to emphasize their size. They talked completely normally like every other character in the show , except for Vorugal who does have a very deep voice, and so it doesn't hit the same how MASSIVE they are.
So in DnD there are metallic dragons (gold, silver, brass etc) and chromatic (blue, red, black, white and green).
Spoiler warnings, please
Kashaw's mate Vesh was a different entity. A lesser dark deity but The Raven Queen was the one that appeared because they were in the tomb of her champion.
@@BionicDirector117 yes, but at the time they thought it was the same entity.
@@kathrynrowland5165 dude, the live stream has been uploaded for 5 years already.
but it’s still spoilers for people who are new to the story and experiencing it via the animated series
Never understand reactors who talk all the time, you are not watching if your always talking, they tend to miss a lot as well.
Just a note to you guys: Pay attention to the little girl with the vibrant green eyes Grog was talking to. Let’s just say she’s gonna be key in later events in season 2.
So Spoiler:
The family of Uriel survives in the game. I hope they survive in the series.
As did Alaura(The blonde elf mage) and Lady Kima(Red Headed Drawf woman with a hammer)
Kima is a Halfling
We started with 4 dragons, but only 3 took off at the end. Where's the 4th?
SPOILER I know...shhh
