    The tips of my Peace Lily were turning brown. I water them with 3 day old tap water. I sat the watering can in a sink of hot water to warm it. New leaves are growing with no brown tips. They don't like cold water.

    Another common cause of brown tips is the accumulation of salts from hard water. If your water is (hard) full of natural salts, flush the soil every few weeks by running water through the pot for several minutes to dissolve accumulated salts and wash them through the soil and out the bottom of the pot.

    • @ayyubfaiyaz3368
      @ayyubfaiyaz3368 3 года назад +3

      @@bridgetmunoz4646 greatness! That means no salts from your water but the fertilizer can leave salt build up from when the soil dries up more than often. If this happens I usually give a good flush but only if your soil provides enough drainage where you don't cause over watering.
      In my nursery over watery doesn't exist. Water just flows right through giving the roots a good rinse.
      If none of this works then you need to get enzymes. I add beneficial bacterias to my soil because enzymes are constantly breaking down dead roots, other organic matter, and unused nutrients. They transform them into materials that your plants use for vigorous growth.

      What kind of water do you flush the soil with?

    • @californiadreamer5968
      @californiadreamer5968 2 года назад +1

      @@autumn5852 I use tap water. Salts dissolve in water and run through the soil and out the drain holes. If you’re watering just enough to moisten the soil (and not make a mess on your furniture) then the salts from water, soil, and fertilizer just accumulate because they aren’t being dissolved and washed away as they would in nature (or in Ayyub Faiyaz’ nursery from earlier comment.)

    Yep, I’m guilty of all these plant care crimes. I moved house in winter 2023 so my patio containers were the last thing on my mind. The weeds took hold on the soil surface, plus I stopped watering because we had a wet winter. But, I now really the roots weren’t getting enough water. Then, when they began to look sad in late spring I decided to repot them. Thats when they went into repot shock, and the leaves started falling. Now I notice the remaining leaves which are plenty are turning brown. So I’m feeding and watering regularly and hoping they will begin to thrive once more - and I’m forgiven for tree neglect 😬
    Thank you great tips! Update; my two trees are looking good, no leaf fall for three days 😅🙏😁👍

Powdered milk, either pre-mixed in soil or dissolved in water---->plants. ✓School Chalk, lrg plant~2 sticks, sm plant~1 stk... ✓eggshells, dried 3 days blended to a powder + water --->plant, Save water from boiled eggs, let cool~~~>plants.

    Sir, thank you for taking a scientific approach to gardening and helping us learn. I recently got into gardening and one of the plants I got was Brahma Kamal (Epiphyllum). I water it for every two days and the drainage and fertilizer are fine as well, but I can see burnt edges. Would you suggest cutting that part of the leave as it seems to have lost its pigment or do you think making some changes such as watering schedule would revive the leaves and get it back to normal? Thank you for the informative video.

    • @satyadivyach4544
      @satyadivyach4544 3 года назад

      @@srivanidesai5347 I think consistent watering (but make sure not to overwater) might help with diluting the fertilizer. Use a slow release fertilizer from next time. If you think the damage is already too much then it would be better to repot. But be careful because plants sometimes cannot take the stress of repotting and might shed leaves or go dormant, but be patient, hopefully everything will be okay.

More cocopeat compared to garden soil because the garden soil gets clayey and paste like and water doesn't penetrate all the way to the bottom. I added one morsal of vermicompost in the top layer and watered it.
    The weather here in northern India is very dry and hot. Summer has just started.

    Hi, my plant shivered up, it’s new leaf tips burnt to a crunch, the other mature leaves curled and wilted after being in the hot sun in the car for a few by mistake. It’s a Bird of Paradise Streliza. She’s not too bad but I’m very sad my new leaves that recently opened are damaged now from the Texas heat.
    How can I revive her? Not sure if I should use the peroxide method on the soil and spray on leaves or what… I currently have her out of sunlight in a shaded area. Please help! A new plant mom here and I was doing so well 😞

      Thank you for your advice. Your video was very informative. Is the peroxide method ok to use for soil and spray on leaves? How long to keep in shaded area?
      I think it’s a chemical burn as well, as I had neem oil residue on leaves from the week prior from a treatment. Now the sun burn, plant suffocated in car. 2 new leaves burnt to a crisp.

    is this the same for bonsai plants. I got 4 twigs off a site and they rooted great. I planted them with their soil and after a little while, the leaves are turning brown and yellow. I'm not sure why because the soil is so moist esp on the top. However, I don't water them at the same time everyday. I also have them in a tray and the water drains out the bottom and i leave it sit there till i have to drain it so it doesn't over flow over the tray. I'm not sure what to do, I don't want to lose them.

    If we are using organic fertilizers then is there any objection to use chemical fertilizers? Can we use both ? please anwer.

    • @organicgardening
      @organicgardening  Год назад

      Dear ma'am,
      We can use both together and there is no problem.
      The only difference is that chemical fertilizers are in ready form that plants can absorb quick also it impact on soil microbes and they slowly start decaying.
      Organic fertilizers slowly release nutrients after consuming by soil microbes and it enhances microbes activities.
      Better to use any one at one time so that soil microbes would active.

    Three leaves are dry and discoloring at the side. I really want to understand the roots to resolve. She (my plant) was just put in a new pot. Not repotted. Will it harm the plant if i keep taking her out to examine the roots and get to know them? I need to only take her out of pot twice. Once to clean and study the roots then put her back in same soil, same pot. Two if problem continues, i take her to her nursery for them to look at her roots.
