I lived on DEFIANT for many years at Canvey Island , cruising up and down the Thames. She was a real war hero too, what a shame to see her sunk. In the time I owned her she rescued many a stranded pleasure boat, and she got me home safely once with waves breaking well over the bow. She used to glide through the water at a steady pace and leave no wake behind her whatsoever. A real shame , but hopefully she will give interest to divers for a long time to come.
Sorry you've had to wait two years for the response, but part of the Defiants life involved being an escape boat. Quote from Stoney Cove website: The tugboat “DEFIANT” is a pretty Dutch tug with interesting war history, folklore has it that she was brought to England by two men escaping the Germans during WW2.

It's not folklore it's true.
