We had a couple of jersey cows as house cows, in the late 60s my Father used to milk them by hand, all the surplus Milk would be put through a hand cranked milk cream separator (Centrifuge) it was really hard to turn till you got it turning. The cream was then salted, and once a week Father used an electric churn to make the Butter. Then a final rinse or two and he used wooden paddles to make 1lb pats of butter.

Ah nice I’m sure you had some very creamy milk! One of the big plus points of our Jerseys is the butterfat content.
