Ferrari's New V-12-Powered Flagship

- Ferrari's new front-engined flagship, coming this summer, is perfectly proportioned and refreshingly different, yet 100 percent true to the brand and oozing Italianità through every pore of its lavishly appointed interior. The striking two-seater was designed in-house by maestro Flavio Manzoni and his team, and it is such an obvious tribute to the legendary 365GTB/4 that it should be badged Daytona-which won't happen, because Ferrari already wasted that coveted name on the limited-edition mid-engined Daytona SP3. “All 12 cylinders are in there.” Wow, brilliant car commentary.
That will be 10 million sir.
that's what she said.
@@pjbiggleswerth8903 12* one million for each cylinder
I think he was being comical eluding to how small they even managed to make a V12
I only found 4 of my 12 in my car
You usually find only 10 of the 12 but looks like we have all 12 in there this time … thank goodness pheww 😅
a 10cyl ferrari does sound interesting tho
@@Infamous.07 agree and in todays world anything more than 4 we should appreciate brother. Once electrification scales it’s going to hit hard.
He reminds me of the Inside the Actors Studio host that Will Farrel made fun of on SNL.
I was kind of hoping the lost 2 cylinders
And if you mod it to a 10 cylinder Ferrari will ask you by letter to revert it back.. otherwise SUE YOU! Only exhaust and wheels pretty much. Can't even call it like herrari like the youtuber does
Guess you better buy a supra and swap in a v8 and do what you want with out harassment
Thank goodness those wheels are milled we wouldn't want them to be forged which make them both stronger and lighter
Not necessarily. I expect you're thinking of forged vs cast wheels. These milled wheels though will presumably be milled from a forged block. Now, true, milling will cut the grains of the block, which would be inferior to a forged wheel with unbroken grains. But on the other hand, you'll have much more flexibility in terms of designing the shape, so I wouldn't be at all surprised if a stronger and/or lighter wheel could be achieved. (In fact I'd be surprised if that weren't the case, because Ferrari isn't stupid, and otherwise they wouldn't do it.) I'm sure they're ridiculously expensive though.
But then they wouldn't cost 75k for a set of 4
There's pros and cons. I mean it is a small v12 car I can imagine it isn't all that heavy in the back so the traction and stability has to go somewhere 🤷🏻♂️ (for this car to be the size of a newer supra I mean cmon)
@@user-kd5cu7qf3f There are cons to every method but forging, that's accurate. It's ok, i don't expect everyone to know about metalcraft. If you have the option, always go forged. You will have less durability breakdown than other methods. Sure, there's a weight increase, but forged wheels are less likely to crack on holes and stuff in the road.
The reason it is stronger is you pound the metal down when it's hot (and a LOT less hot than it needs to be for melting and casting. this is less not fun for the workers). The layers of grain in it are more tightly-packed. Density equals strength and strength equals durability. Anvils and the tools used to work metal will always be forged. Unless the smith is trying to be cheap... but it's not that cheap to replace cast things multiple times compared to one life for a forged
@@jwillwork3683 I wish Ferrari would consider the average consumer!! the family man!!

They would lose money and prestigé. and i hate Ferrari's pretentious ass views on "commoners" but yeah they would lose a Large majority of their buyers. or a their whales
For wheels milled from a single block of aluminum, you'd think they'd look better.
With today's technology I don't think there are any advantages from that. They gonna be more expensive and that's all
They look stunning. Completely match the exterior design language.

@@gustavoflorio5383 The car looks like shite
@@gustavoflorio5383 they do look good on the car but you wouldnt give them a second thought. and for cnc milled wheels you can go wild otherwise as how everyone say that design is easily made with forging which would be better for performance.
Apparently sometimes the engineers forget to put a few cylinders in the engine, but thankfully they're all in there
That's that Italian build quality
I agree they should have called it the Daytona. Thanks.
You’re welcome

George Kacher has been in the game of auto journalism long enough to have perspective and gravitas. The fact that Ferrari stuck with a NA V12 in this boosted/hybrid age is the point he was making. Lost on many people who commented.
I listened to this in my car without the visuals and was even more entertained, brilliant!!!!!
This is a lovely introduction to the 12Cilindri from Mr Karcher. 👌🏻
Good to see Georg again. Missed his wry and witty writing when Automobile Magazine was shuttered several years ago.
Yes it is good to see him about, enjoyed his stuff when he was writing for Car back in the 80's
You two have taken the words right out of my mouth. Agree 👌
It took me half the video to realize it wasn’t a voiceover and he was in fact saying the words I was hearing lol
So nice to see this legend of an automotive journalist again.
I must’ve read thousands of words written by this guy over the years. He knows the industry inside and out.
George delivers this so well. No hand waving, no shouting, no attention seeking, just telling you like it is, cool as you like.
Plus he says Purosangue just right 👌
When you have that voice and accent, anything you say will sound profound and awe inspiring. It could literally be toilet commentary and people will go, “ahhh yes, that is quite insightful and very profoundly stated. Bravo ol’chap 👏” (I assume they’re also British, because…)
A 12 cylinder with all 12 cylinders in there?! Wow, Ferrari has outdone themselves this time. But really I thought Ferrari wasn't going to make 12 cylinder cars anymore.
If you pay only 1 gagillion dollars you get 11

This guy is a great commentator/voice. As good as the car!
Are you a bot?
Has to be a bot.
When you have other car manufacturers advertising that their car has 12 cylinders, when it really only has 8, or advertising 8 cylinders when it has 4. It’s sad, but understandable when you have to state that all 12 cylinders are in there.
"We've only listened to it on tape." Beautiful car, but if it isn't driven, I don't see the point.
Some items are meant to be collected, not used
I think he point about the 12 cylinders was that they are in the front, not the rear
Perhaps his comment was in reference to the amount of the engine that wasn't visible?
@@haroldjackman2010 that makes sense too 👍🏻
The important thing here is that the engine sits back in the car, behind the front axle, for better weight distribution. 51/49 I think.
Technically it is a front mid engine car .
@@Rasscasseyes exactly, I think that’s why he pointed out the 12 cylinders were there (instead of in the rear as one might expect) 👊🏻
George makes the point that all 12 cylinders are in there because they are not all visible, because the engine is set back so that it sits behind her front axle.
This is done for reasons of weight distribution and handling .
Technically this is a front mid engine car .
The 6.5L V12 Ferraris sound as good as anything out there! The FF, 812, GT4C Lusso... Throw in a Novitec exhaust system and nothing touches it (LFA doesn't count)

F12 Berlinetta maybe, definitely not 812, a tremendously ugly car, it's like among the worst examples of mid-generation facelift🤮
Been on the Ferrari website, the car looks great in red and looks even more like the original Daytona 365 than you see here. The Daytona sp3 looks more like a Testarossa from the 80s rather than an original Daytona 365. Not a massive fan of modern Ferraris in the looks department, but really like the look of this one.
