    People saying its easy. Please go down for the day to test yourself, as you got to carry weights, followed by a dummy who weighs the same as a person, then run 4 hose rails down the other side, then role back up. This is just a small part of what you do for the fire service as you have to be physically fit

    I did this yesterday for Berkshire entry. I've done 3 full Ironman races in the past few years, doing Manchester marathon in a few weeks. I found it a very hard test (completed in 9min 55s) and was blowing hard after a few minutes. Probably easier if you are more of a cross fit person..

    For all the people saying this is super easy and belittling her. You do realise she’s a comms officer right? Not operational and she put herself in the firing line infront of all of you and on the fireground to give something out of her wheelhouse a go and if nothing else this shows humility and a good character to put this out here so you all have the info and can be inspired to work on your weaknesses (which we all have). Part of joining the service is our core values too I’d recommend you look them up before making derogatory comments about a stranger online trying her best.

    ruclips.net/video/stjLLAxsft4/видео.html this video says it all she struggles to pull a hose reel in ambient temperature wearing B.A in a straight line then has to have a break to pick up a simulated casualty (35kg). As a fire fighter of 10 years it's alot more difficult to pull a hose reel around a building when u can't see and the temperature in the building has increased to 100s of degrees more than ambient temperature out side, considering the avarage weight of a person in the UK is between 70-83kg (women-men) struggling to be able to drag a 35kg sand bag says it all. When in reality u could potentially have to pull a 16 stone person out witch is no easy task. The standards for fire fighters is dropping and it's putting people at risk to accommodate equality. Got nothing against women joining but that should have to beable to do the physical side of it based more reality cuase when there on a real job it's there life and the life of the person theyv been tasked to save on the line.

    • @scoobz007
      @scoobz007 2 года назад +2

      Totally agree, I’d actually say the average weight of people in the UK these days is in excess of 85kg, both men and women. We’re fatter as a nation and the fire service really needs to take that into account.

      It is hard enough for 2 strong full grown men to pull a 90kg person out a house fire, 2 women couldn't do it, people would die fact.It's a joke but that's the world we live in, they should have to carry a 90kg dummy in full BA for 25 metres to pass imo

      Each Fire Service differs. Some want a bleep test and others a treadmill test. The bleep test is not as easy as it first appears as the turning in it really takes it out of you in the higher levels.

      The British Fire Service has no upper age limit. However this may only apply to on call Firefighters as that is what I'm looking at. Years ago it used to be 35 or below. However, that appears to have now been dropped. Common sense would say anything over 40 is perhaps too late due to the physical aspect of the job.

    I’m a retired fighter. We did that all the time back in the day. We didn’t say it was hard, we just got on with it.

      pointless pointing but sexist pal, you’d be surprised how hard you’ll find it if you’ve got that sort of attitude. I passed all tests and it took more from me than I thought. You’ll be taken aback I’m sure. Good luck.

      pointless pointing again, not necessary correct and there would definitely be exceptions such as Elijah Wood competing in similar against Jessica Ennis.. plus, this is not an accurate representation of the actual assessment as I said.

      pointless pointing brother you don’t need to explain that to me, everyone understands that on a baseline, men outcompete physically.. Being ignorant that that is not always the case however is part and parcel of what outlines sexism. Believing that you can do this because a woman can who believe it or not would not have passed this part of the assessment here, is a ridiculous pedestal to stand on if you’re really looking at this to see if you can achieve it. All I’m saying is, you won’t even get to this stage in the selection if you’re that ignorant of variables. This is the last part of selection. You won’t make it through the psychometrics or interview if this is how you think. Understand?
