I absolutely adore your videos, but I feel like I’ve. Burnt myself out due to year 10 and I want some tips for motivation as I want to get good in my English. Also what did you get for your GCSEs sir ?
Win or lose pick a side GCSEs are a battle royal to the death pick to win and live or die
@@vvsvcnt thank you so so much I keep overthinking about It 🙁
Hi, I am struggling with english a lot. I am getting a 3 in lit and 4 in lang. Please help.
Hey man,
I’m a student like you on target for 8s in both englishes. My tips would be three things-
1. Attend regular helpdesks at school with your teacher, or hire a private tutor to help fill the gaps.
2. Read some of the exemplar essays the exam board post, and read the examiner’s reports on them to see what the people who are getting better grades are doing differently to you, and right.
3. Practice papers. What I’ve found is sometimes just writing as much as physically possible (even if perhaps the quality is a bit lower) is a good way to boost your OTFs. For example, you might remember in the literature paper there is a 20 marker at the start about an unseen poem. Last year, a student’s response to it was posted by the exam board for being ‘good but very short’. That answer was one and a half pages in half an hour. So just writing a lot can help you move up the grade boundaries.
This is just what is working for me so let me know when you read this and if you have any other questions. You got this bro
trust me watch this guy's videos you'll do absolutely amazing
hey, year 11 student here with bad memory, im really bad at subjects like psychology and english lit, do you any tips for recall or any way of remembering quotes, poems and psychology stuff?
(if anyone else has any tips, please let me know, im struggling so much to find motivation to revise for these subjects because i dont remember the important stuff)
Memrise is a really good app for memorising quotes and key notes! It works a bit like Duolingo :)
i don’t do psychology but for english lit quotes. put the keyword of a quote on one side of the flash card and the quote on the other. or if you don’t wanna do flash cards another way to memorise stuff is to remember the first letter of each word of each quote and match it up to the idek what i’m talking about anymore
i dont do psychology but for english lit personally i like to do mind maps for themes and characters and for learning quotes i use flash cards, i put the quotation on one side and then on the other i have the quote with the analysis so i can learn the analysis and the quote, sometimes i ask people to test me on them too but it also works if your on your own, i try to do minimum 7 quotes per character (try and keep them short) and for each theme minimum 10 quotes! for poems i do a mix of mind maps (i include the context of the poem, the structure and form, key themes and what other poems to compare it to on each of my poem mind maps) and i also use flashcards to learn the specific quotes and analysis for each of the quotes. hope this helps!!
@@royanne.deleoz oooohhh, I'll try these, thank you so much
@@purplepronglefish gotcha! I'll have a try and see what works, thank you again
How can i improve to grade 5
Thanks lad ❤
Sir, I am pretty sure you had a video on ‘The Tyger’ by William Blake. Did you delete it by chance? If possible can you re-upload it or refer to the video for me? I tried searching for it but your video doesn’t show up
No I’ve never had a video on that I’m afraid.
im really struggling with English I don’t have a great teacher and im getting 5 in lang and 6 in lit and I really want 7s in both . In literature I understand the text and everything but I just don’t know how to structure my answers to get marks with language I just don’t get it at all do u still think I would be able to still get the 7s…?
Same with me, structuring and writing stuff in a condensed but detailed form, I just can’t get right.
Absolutely! Take a look at mrbruff.com/success for hundreds of inspiring stories
@@mrbruff thanks but I want to learn how to get those grades any idea
Watch Mr Everthing English's video on explaining the effect and for writing paragraphs look at model answers and break down what they did correctly compared to yours @@zegingercat7345
watch all of his videos !! i got an 8+ in my power and conflict poetry just from watching the 5 min videos :)@@chelseaaa_xo
Thanks for the thoughtful video. Side question: Will we ever be asked about Banquo for Macbeth? I do AQA
I can't remember what year but they did once .
its not as likely as getting the witches or macbeth or lady macbeth but you probably still can, hes still an important character and he links with tons of other themes so its helpful to revise him! hope this helps! :)
13th of may is my birthday btw guys
