      Question for you please TGB. Looking at an fz1, 03. 40k miles, 2,900e. Good price you reckon? You rode one? Know you had the fz6 for yonks. Any big issues to look out for? Thanks man, love the SRAD,well wear.

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  3 года назад +1

      @@explorationmoss1015 it's a good price provided it's fairly clean. Same basic layout so they're comfy. Treat the metals and engine with gt85 or somthing like it a lot as they can flake if not looked after, but a bit of care keeps them as new like my one. I know the fz1 has some issue on the stator side I think, not uncommon but that was it.
      I have ridden one and they're a monster. Brilliant bike.
      Thanks :)

      @@TheGorillaBiker Thanks man, any reservations about 40k miles?. You see the reason im looking for a new bike is two italian bikes Rst1000 (sold) and guzzi (at mechanic for months) have near broken my heart and i want a flawless(reliable) runner.

    • @TheGorillaBiker

      @@explorationmoss1015 Ahhhh those Italians. 40k miles for that 1000cc should be nothing if it's been cared for. My 600cc had nearly that and was/is still running flawlessly :)

    Back in the day the SRAD was the king. Makes me happy to see one still tearing up the roads. Re: setting the height, there is a special tool for that with adjustable widths and heights for using on different carbs. Got one at work...very cool tool to have

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  3 года назад +1

      Yup. It was an animal when it was released :) I'll be hanging on to this one forever anyway. I don't think I'd ever be able to sell it.

    I could tell by the sound of your voice that you are happy with the outcome. This is why you ride. The enjoyment that motorcycling brings. There's nothing more satisfying than the raw sound a carbureted engine makes when ya wind it up. Can't wait to see the final product, but the joy is in the journey.

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  3 года назад

      Happy is an understatement even. :) It is indeed, and it's why I like working on bikes so much! Very few things as rewarding as that feeling :) There really isn't, and the fact I can visualise everything happening in there in it's mechanical magic is cool too :) We're not far off at all :) Thanks! :)

    The SRAD is a great bike! Also very reliable once you get everything sorted out. They are reasonably comfortable too, just did a 300km plus ride on my 96 last week (and im 48). In real world on-road riding the SRAD will keep up with most modern bikes, and is great fun to ride! Looking forward to the next video!

    • @TheGorillaBiker
      @TheGorillaBiker  Год назад

      Not at all! Glad it may prove useful, that's why I make them :) Let me know do you get it sorted! Definitely sounds like a float issue, could also be your needles aren't actually closing off the fuel flow, they might need replacing physically if they have worn a groove in that stops them working correctly. Lastly double check you have the right fuel pump in there if you changed it, a fuel pump designed for injectors will over power the needles and floats :)

    • @bigmike3443
      @bigmike3443 Год назад

      @@TheGorillaBiker Well I took them off the car last night, the float cut offs were set massively too high, all dropped down now so I'm sure that will sort it. And yes the car has a Fuel Pressure regulator fitted set to about 3psi, it runs great otherwise and has been set up on a rolling road etc about 12 months ago. Thanks again mate, keep up the great vids!

    Nice work 😃
    As a tip for headers i got k5 1000 headers on my srad with a k3 1000 linkpipe but without the exhaustflap and a endcan similar to the one you got,
    No jetting needed i have dynoed it🙂 it was all stock before got a nice power curve a bit linear maby so the powerkick at high revs is smoothed out but i got 120hp at the weel with k&n airfilter about 1hp less all the way with oem filter. I could adjust it a little bit leaner but no need to 🙂 But I miss the power kick a bit but it feels safer on track when accelerating in curves 😁👍
