I mean it's the beginning of the song that goes, "THE HILLS ARE ALIVE WITH THE SOUND OF MUSIC!!!!!" I'm not sure if that section (0:00-0:40) is in the movie with Julie Andrews, but it is definitely in the stage adaptation. I hope that made sense :) I'm sorry if my last comment wasn't clear.

Except that it's the stage version that's the original, and the film that is the adaptation! They simply dropped the verse of the song for the movie, jumping straight to the famous chorus, so as to do the dramatic camera swoop in on Julie Andrews as Maria. In the original musical, the song is more reflective and relaxed (and there's a brief opening scene at the convent before we're introduced to Maria out in the countryside).

@@brianajacobson684 He starts with the verse of "The Sound of Music." Many people appear to be unaware of this opening portion of the song, since it was dropped from the movie. I believe that in the original stage production, the lights came up on Maria (Mary Martin) sitting in a tree; the title song was much more pensive and reflective than the grandly expansive rendition by Julie Andrews in the film.

A musical written by two jewish american songwriters Richard Rogers and Oscar Hammerstein the second..and set during the time before the aunchluss the joining of austria to germany and the Capt chosing not to join the German navy and getting his family out of austria.im sure both had family in austria and they I'm sure they knew what their relatives faced in austria.
