Tissot is killing it! I am a happy owner of Tissot Seastar 2000 Professional Powermatic 80, incredible watch, punching above it's price. This also seems like a perfect afordable "daytona", really awesome piece and instantly on my radar for possible purchase.
Yep, the price is just crazy for such an amazing watch. Had recently a client who was looking for a handwound chronograph - while searching i just understood how litle the choice is. In this case, glad Tissot did it!
Thank you very much for the review, I'll be swapping my old T-Touch (2006) with the PR516 because they told me (Swatch Group/Tissot) that the T touch doesn't have spare parts anymore, so they are giving me a loyalty discount and I could choose any model so I chose this one! I'm excited and looks fun. I was looking for a new chronograph, I like the idea of not going all the way on spending the amount for a Speedmaster or El Primero, this looks like a bargain and the Quality seems pretty good. Thanks
Hello Fuzzy, interesting question indeed. This depends on the barrel and espacially on the lenght/strenght of the spring inside the barrel. Usually it is 20 - 40 times...
Great review! You have a new subscriber. Only correction, the bezel ring is unfortunately listed by Tissot as mineral, not sapphire. This appears to be the case for both the quartz and automatic variants.
Welcome on board! :) I think this is not well said in the video and leads to confusion as i see. What "...complemented by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal dome" means is the sapphire crystal on the case and not the bezel.
@@LesAmbassadeurs-Watches thank you! Appreciate the response - that makes sense…was confusing as the video was highlighting the bezel at that point. Look forward to more of your content!
Great choice, was the best Tissot release this year in my opinion. Watch is incredible comfortable and really looks dope does not matter what you are wearing 👍
I saw this watch scrolling through IG and it was love at first sight! I recently purchased a Tissot PRX Chrono which I absolutely love, I just now need to think of a way to find funds to purchase this new release!
Congrats! The PRX was a huge thing and seems like this one is one the same path...can't wait to see how this one will do in the future. I think it has for sure the attributes to become a hit..
Because collectors want to keep the original movement that came with the watch. With the powermatic 80 movement, they replace the whole thing with a movement that they fixed previously. So it won't be your movement, it will be from someone else's@@imovieperson
No, this movement is the base of the Valjoux 7753 which does not containt any plastic parts - unless you buy it in toys r us ;-) If you have any questions, let me know at any time.
I mean, should not be a problem since manual winding watches are in general built a bit more robust. This movement is also a bit bigger in size...nevertheless there is no yes or no answer :)
Since this is a manual winding, it means at some point after the spring is fully wound you will feel the pressure and not be able to wind anymore. Therefore, once you will the pressure stop winding or you will break the spring :)
The quartz version runs of battery power, with no need to wind the watch. The mechanical version needs to be hand wound as it uses a mainspring to send power through gears to make the watch run. Hope that helps!
@@joelbrunzellHi would like to know for this mechanical version of the Tissot chronograph if the watch is wind 20 turns and worn for 8hrs do you need to wind it again the next day if going to wear again?
Our series, called 'Masterclass,' breaks down the mechanics of a watch, which might help you better understand how a mechanical watch works. You can check it out here: www.youtube.com/@LesAmbassadeurs-Watches/videos As mentioned earlier, a quartz watch runs on a battery and doesn’t need winding. While maintenance is generally cheaper than for a mechanical watch, once you understand how a mechanical watch operates, you’ll never trade the experience for the convenience of a less expensive quartz watch."
I understand your concern about it being more prone to breaking, but I really love both the look and feel of it. The mineral bezel gives it a touch of elegance that feels more high-end to me.
I think Moto GP is the best & ultimate racing chronograph Tissot have ever presented. However, they no longer made with 7750 based movement. What a shame.
I think the price is about right, there are very few swiss mechanical chronos for less than £1800. The Hamilton Intramatic Chrono is sometimes on sale around £1500. I suspect the second hand market will be a challenge, don't expect Tissot will manage to sell too many.
@@MrShoryuken1Good point, the brands on Tissot level are not really much cheaper which means the price is quite fair. I agree but i think whoever buys a Tissot, Hamilton or for example a Longines will not buy it to resell it...
It is much more than the second hand. The experience watching a mechanical movement do his duty is unique. It's like hearing a Mustang V8 engine roaring ;-)
The design is pretty good. For the movement removing the automatic winder mechanism will reduce the thickness. But 1)on a mechanical point of view, I am not a fan of automatic movement transformation to pass in manual. On atomatic the manual winding is not as robust, because the atomatic winding is most use and put less stress on the gear, the main spring slide can prevent overwinding but do not overwinding it too much in manual, you will wear it faster. I hope that the mechanical modification go further that just remove the autmatic Wonder and put a plate ( with is nice, it is a luxury product of course) 2) The main interested on mechanical chronograph is to see the chronograph gears, lever and so one and a mechanical column wheel is perfect for that, but the valjoux 7750 serie is not à column wheel one. Every thing is hide by the plate. The 7750 is a robust and good, but "cheap" movement. Why not make a new modern movement base on a Venus 175 for example. The quality of the video is awesome.
Nah, come on :) A racing watch has some features and also some aesthetic which are typical. To be honest did not think for a second about the Daytona when i first saw this. I think the closest that comes stylewise to a Daytona is the Zenith Chronomaster. .
The watch would have been thick as a subway sandwich. The first model from 1970 was also a handwound, that is why the used the handwound movement to pay homage ;-)
Come on :) Speedmaster is an icon and Omega probably within the top 5 brands of all time 🙏😊 Nevertheless, i think the PR516 in its price range seems to be unbeatable! 😍

What is the lug to lug distance?
48mm

Tissot, world travel. Amazing production!

I just bought this one how do u know when to stop winding!
I do believe it maintains the clutch in the main spring stopping it from over winding, as this movement was modified from the automatic valljoue.
Since this is a manual winding, it means at some point after the spring is fully wound you will feel the pressure and not be able to wind anymore. Therefore, once you will the pressure stop winding or you will break the spring :)
Does the small seconds hand stop when you pull the crown out, or is this watch not hackable?
Yes, it does stop when pulling the crown ✅
Whats the lug to lug since i have a six inch wrist?
48mm
Can you breakdown the differences between mechanical version and the quartz version. Price delta is significant
The quartz version runs of battery power, with no need to wind the watch. The mechanical version needs to be hand wound as it uses a mainspring to send power through gears to make the watch run. Hope that helps!
The quartz version has a significantly different (and significantly uglier) dial.

What do you exactly mean by that?
That mineral glass bezel is quite a bummer. Otherwise its a great watch.

At this price point, it should be a ceramic bezel, not mineral... Even the PRS 516 Quartz had a ceramic bezel!

You’re right, ceramic would be amazing, but at this price point it seems like we'll have to be happy with the mineral glass.

@@aesric nope. But we can agree to disagree.
If only the hands were more elegant. I really don’t like the syringe hands but that‘s just my taste

Why do i feel roley sub / Tudor style?
Funny, everyone sees some similarities to other watches and always compare it different models 😂
The 70s version was much better looking. The new logo does not work on sporty models like this. An applied T logo would suit the watch perfectly..
